Former UM DL Chris Rock Walks On at OSU

Former UM DL Chris Rock Walks On at OSU

Submitted by DGDestroys on March 26th, 2013 at 6:48 PM

Just as title says..

Former Michigan DL Chris Rock is now a walk-on at Ohio State. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

— Tony Gerdeman (@GerdOzone) March 26, 2013

As a refresher, here's what Brian had to say when he left...

Rock hadn't played yet (obviously) and didn't make much impact in spring, so the departure shouldn't affect Michigan's projected performance in 2012 unless things get ugly at the three-tech spot. And since there are a couple of large incoming freshmen who may have beaten Rock out, this could be a writing on the wall type of scenario. Rock's star fell precipitously after his commitment to Michigan, something his recruiting profile acknowledged. He was a developmental guy, and if he wasn't developing meaningful wink wink ellipsis goes here…

And Magnus...

Word in the offseason was that he had bulked up significantly from when he arrived and the coaches were toying with moving him from strongside end to 3-tech defensive tackle, but the potential move seems not to have mattered much.  As you can tell from my May 2010 commitment post, I was never a fan of Rock's abilities; his TTB Rating of 58 meant he looked like a below average starter or a decent backup.  It's odd that I compared him to Anthony Lalota at the time of his commitment, because neither one lasted long at Michigan.  Lalota, of course, transferred to Rutgers and then didn't last long there, either

UConn adding 2000 seats for Michigan game

"The University of Connecticut plans to add more than 2,000 temporary seats to its 40,000-seat football stadium for September’s game against Michigan." I stumbled across this article and it made me think, why are they adding "temporary" seating instead of permanent? Their stadium has been 90% full the last four years. I understand that their conference situation is up in the air but they must still have aspirations of building their football program. It seems like a small expansion would be a step in that direction. Maybe I just don't comprehend the cost of 2000 temporary vs 2000 permanent. http://www.registercitizen.com/articles/2013/03/15/sports/doc5143a9cfa2…

I'll begin by throwing out the obligatory "sorry if this is too OT, mods delete" statement.  Anyway, I'm in grad school at NMU in Marquette and am perusing the class list for the fall semester and happened across a Weight Training and Conditioning course taught by former WR Marcus Knight (who happens to be the WR coach up here, for those wondering why he's at NMU).  I'm debating taking the course for laughs 'n giggles, since I go to the gym regularly anyway, and was wondering if it was bad form to take the course simply because it's Marcus Knight and/or to talk to him about his Michigan days.

Something tells me it seems like a bad idea, but I thought I'd get the crowds opinion on this.  I don't plan on being obnoxious or anything, just thought it'd be cool to say I've taken a class with him and maybe pick his brain a little bit.

Didn't see any reference to this on the MGoBoard, but the details of GMat's contract extension are out:

Mattison, entering the final year of a deal that pays him $750,000 annually, signed the three-year extension earlier this month. The new terms call for him to make $835,000 in the first year in 2014, $875,000 in 2015, then $915,000 in 2016.

Money well spent.

Was just searching youtube for some highlights for an upcoming video on my channel, and I found this which was from during the week after the 58-57 win over state.

Devin & Trey were in studio and Denard called in. Interesting that Burke said Jalen Rose is a mentor to him.
