2013 Football Schedule - Wallpaper

2013 Football Schedule - Wallpaper

Submitted by TruBluMich on April 22nd, 2013 at 7:11 PM

I had a basketball wallpaper and couldn't find any football wallpapers with the full schedule for the upcoming season, so I made one.  I normally don't post these online, so this is a first.  If people like them I'll share them more often.

When I first decided to make this, I wanted something clean and I definitely wanted the picture of Braxton Miller lying on the ground after the hit by Clark.  After I was done with the Block M, it needed a background so I added Lewan and the term "Those who stay, will be champions."  I was going to put the schedule on the left but all of my icons are on that side, so I moved the schedule to the bottom.  I refuse to look at the Ohio State logo so, I just simply typed in "The Game".

Hope you all like it.

I am sure this makes many of you happy but as a kid whose tickets were going to have excellent senior standing next year and who always makes it before kickoff, I am really angry.

GA is just chaos

(Edit: As a poster pointed out below, tickets are also way more expensive)

(Second Edit: To those thinking you will get good seats just for showing up before kick, you are wrong. Now that there is a reason to go early, we will have our own mini-Paternoville. For good games, you will have to be there 2 hours early. I love Michigan football, but as a grad student who also remembers pregames as the best part of being an undergrad, I really think this could kill some of the Saturday fun.)

What it says in the title. Sure, an E-Book preview of Hockey and Basketball would be sweet, but there are definitely a few problems with E-Books. E-Books don't fit on the shelf all awesome letting people know that you get your analysis from MGoBlog. E-Books are way more expensive to throw down in disgust when you disagree with the analysis.

Basketball is coming off the best season since...? (1989?) Hockey is starting a new era with the B1G Hockey conference. I'd rather have those captured in print than just in bytes. There's a week left in the Kickstarter, if you haven't bought yours yet, go for it and let's get the print copies of the Hockey/Basketball preview made.

Just your friendly MGoBoard reminder that this weekend many of our Wolverines will not hear their names called in the NFL draft. And that's OK. There are 120ish D1 programs or approximately 13,800 "jobs" for  people to play college football. In the NFL there are 1590 jobs (on the "active roster, which doesn't mean you'll get to suit up on Sundays).

Many of our favorite Wolverines are done with Football. Some might become NFL stars, long-time special-teamers, have a cup of coffee, make practice squads, play arena league, or somewhere in between. And that's all awesome. How many people do you know that took a year or two off after graduation? Some travelled the world, some just bummed around, some saved up money for grad school, etc. Making a practice squad is nothing to sneeze at. None of these kids are failures, even if they don't get drafted.

Here's hoping that all of our Wolverines have great football experiences going forward. Go Blue.

I wouldn't create this type of thread if either Football or Basketball were in season, but since it's the slow period, I feel like it's okay.

That said, are your more following Michigan players in the draft or do you have a team? Who do you want your team to draft? Where do you think Michigan's players will be drafted?

Any and all discussion is welcome...

I was looking at Minnesota's spring info a little bit (as well as their recruiting. Only 1 2014 guy so far, but he's a 4-star RB with a really nice highlight real. That's all we need is for Minny to go back to the school of no name guys with an RB that owns everyone). Anyhow, I came across this little gem through their twitter feed. Sometimes, it makes me regret that Michigan has such a huge fanbase that things like this are impossible.

Kill just screamed to bring all 200/300 fans at practice on to the field to put "pressure" on the FG unit. Classic twitter.com/NSandell/statu…

Joe Rexrode ‏@joerexrode 5m
More Dantonio on that: "If they’re in the conference with us, that’s their problem. Right? They’re the ones that have to deal with it.”    Is this like laying in the weeds and haven't we been in the same conference as them since 1950?

For all of you Mgoblog uniformz afficionados out there.  This is the helmet UConn will be wearing when they play us. It features the new Husky logo on the front. Thoughts?  I kinda like the front. The back, not so much. The actual uni is pretty straight forward. The The Uconn Blog does not like.  Hopefully our AD does not see this as a direct challenge to his WOW-factoring that requires a quick call to Adidas...

EDSBS.com says:

YOU CRAZY DIAMONDS. Shine on, UConn. You have taken bizarre uniforms to the next level and we firmly believe this is just the beginning. Can you incorporate actual taxidermy into these somehow? There's only one way to find out!

30 Year Return on Student Athletes

30 Year Return on Student Athletes

I was on Irish Envy just now (laughing at their comments about Jabrill Peppers)and ran across a spreadsheet that one of their mods put together. The spreadsheet appears to cover african american student athletes at major colleges over a 30 year period, and covers the returns the colleges get for those athletes. I'm apparently not smart enough to figure out how one would get this information. That being said, I was hoping you fine folks on Mgoblog could explain it. I find it hard to believe that Michigan would rank so lowly on a list such as this.

Here's the original source as well.
