It has been a recent trend on twitter to post your favorite players of all time for individual sports. Eric Upchurch tweaked this trend on twitter and posted a list that included his favorite michigan football players at each position. Following his lead, I recorded my own list and would love to see what others have. Feel free to copy, paste, and edit the list!

QB - Denard Robinson

RB - Chris Perry

WR - Mario Manningham

TE - Jake Butt

OL - Jake Long

DL - Brandon Graham

LB - Devin Bush

CB - Jourdan Lewis

MGoFish: Best Guess Recruiting Class

MGoFish: Best Guess Recruiting Class

Submitted by JonnyHintz on June 1st, 2018 at 8:13 AM
Sorry for the format, I’m posting this from my phone. It’s only June 1st, so a lot can change with the names on this list. But MGoFish posted his post-spring best guess recruiting class list last night. http://mgofish.com/2019-best-guess-michigan-football-recruiting-class-l… With players ranked as they currently are, this class would give Michigan a score of 262.43. Michigan currently has the #5 class in the country with 193.72. But if they were to finish with this score, it would’ve given them the 13th best class in 2018 and the 9th best class in 2017. Now obviously things will change. Players will continue to jump up in the rankings and players will fall in the rankings. Names on this list will disappear and new names will appear as the summer camp circuit starts up and interest comes and goes. But this gives us a general idea on where we stand with some of our top targets and a rough idea where our class is looking to rank nationally. As it stands now, and with a few commits looking like they’re candidates for a rankings bump, this has the makings of a top 10 class, and if the cards fall right it could push for a top 5 class.

While at the "Jourdan Lewis WR vs. DB Skills Camp" in Detroit this past weekend, Chris Evans fielded a few questions.

OT: Pretty good article on Ole Miss scandal

OT: Pretty good article on Ole Miss scandal

I just came across a new article over at SB Nation that gives a pretty good look into the Ole Miss football scandal.  Not really too much new information for those of us who have been following it for the past few years, but it's a very well-written, engaging read. In the end, it's good to know that Ole Miss' lack of integrity (along with its stealing Laquon Treadwell from U of M) might actually benefit Michigan by helping us land a gifted QB right when we need him the most.

EDIT: Changed title from "Excellent" to "Pretty good" article.  There's a definite Ole Miss slant to it (I wasn't aware the author was an Ole Miss alum), but I still liked the criticisms he throws at the NCAA and the way it operates throughout the piece, which I thought were pretty on-point.

I vaguely remember Biff Poggi (father of Henry) being an assistant under Harbaugh for a year then returning to Baltimore to coach HS football.  I just never quite knew he was a wealthy money manager who bankrolls the H.S. football team at a prep school.

Apparently his teams have been steamrolling everyone in the Baltimore area to the point that no one wants them on the schedule anymore.

Not passing judgment - sounds like he's helping kids who would otherwise not be able to get a quality education...they just happen to be rhino sized.

OT: recommended football for 8 year old?

OT: recommended football for 8 year old?

Now that my two boys are 8 and 10 years old, I figure it's time to update the late 1960's pigskin that my dad got for me as a kid (the cloth laces are nearly completely decayed away, not to mention the worn out leather that's peeled back at both ends).

So, what football brand/size/make/model would you recommend I buy for them and why?  Leather or composite?  Etc.

Thank you!!

What can a history of 5-star QB transfers tell us about Shea Patterson at Michigan? (SBNation)

What can a history of 5-star QB transfers tell us about Shea Patterson at Michigan? (SBNation)

Answer: it indicates that chances for success are good. Check this (link) for the full story. The article's specific takeaways:

  1. 5 star transfers usually perform well
  2. Offensive fit matters a great deal
  3. Immediate improvement over the previous QB and general production is possible

It's a pretty small sample size, and a more granular review from Brian will be more helpful, but I think this article is reason for some cautious optimism from a non-OL perspective.

What's your record prediction for Michigan in 2018?

What's your record prediction for Michigan in 2018?

For me it's 9-3 (7-2):

L - @ND

W - WMU

W - SMU

W - Nebraska

W - @NW

W - Maryland

L - Wisconsin

W - @MSU

W - PSU

W - @Rutgers

W - Indiana

L - @OSU

I'd code @ND, Wisconsin, @MSU and PSU as "high level of uncertainty" games. So we could go 4-0 across that stretch or 0-4, but I don't see either as very likely. More likely we go 3-1, 2-2 or 1-3. Nebraska is another one that would be tricky, if it was a road game, but it's at home so I'm not too worried.
