Villanova about to go down to Penn.  Not the pedos, the Ivy leaguers.  They actually just had a last shot to tie it with 1 second left...but a tough shot missed.  So down the go again (although Furman looks tough).

To add a conversation piece on a slow sports night (more of a legal and litigious night!)....ESPN just aired the Bobby Knight 30 for 30.  What a y'alls opinion on ehat happened back in 2000 and his removal/firing from Indiana and thoughts on his legacy.  I grew up with him as IU coach and know/remember what went down but....what say you?!

Michigan emerged as a 1 seed in Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology. Also of note: Big Ten has 10(!) teams in the bracketology. Obviously, way too early for any of this.

Michigan *should* be 14-0 heading into the IU game.

Intro

I was poking around on Bart Torvik and found some truly remarkable stats that made me think that Michigan would be better off lowering Charles Matthews' usage and giving it primarily to Jordan Poole.

Appropriately passed Virginia - but Tennessee leaped over us, and somehow Gonzaga stayed ahead of us, despite this loss and looking mediocre against Washington at home.

The sports press are dolts.  Can't admit when they have it wrong at the start of the season, and are always underestimating us.

The NET Raking, the ranking system that NCAA created, has Michigan at #1 right now. That was BEFORE Gonzaga lost tonight.

Can't remember when Michigan was ranked #1 in basketball in any official capacity.

Afternoon game thread

Not sure if a thread for the afternoon of games is worthwhile, but I'm bored.

Kentucky - Seton Hall was an incredibly entertaining game.  Myles Powell of SH lit it up from everywhere in the 2H.

Indiana - Louisville up next.  And others.

Other than Poole, seeing any great performances elsewhere today?

I didn’t watch the tape of the NW game. I saw it live so from memory.... The game was almost lost when Simpson went on a stretch of missed threes and two missed alley oops that almost cost his team the game. He was pulled and Eli brought us over the finish line.

Points:

zavier can make three pointers.

Will Iggy’s role as a starter/contributor immediately begin to help our recruiting? I know the big knock for top talent is that every player has to wait their turn and learn the system no matter how talented (McGary only really got going in the trounament at the end of the year). Top talent definitely would slot nicely into Beileins system, especially ones with the athelticism to defend and shoot the three. Will this development help us finally start getting elite basketball recruits?
