Final 2018 Basketball COMPOSITE Rankings

Final 2018 Basketball COMPOSITE Rankings

Submitted by SailingNomad on April 19th, 2018 at 10:46 PM

As noted by a couple of users in the 247 rankings thread, the composite was updated this afternoon now that Rivals, ESPN, and 247 have all released their final 2018 rankings.  There are a couple of small changes from earlier today (and one large drop for Nunez):

Ignas Brazdeikis: 36th / 4-star

Brandon Johns: 65th / 4-star

David DeJulius: 98th / 4-star

Colin Castleton: 117th / 4-star

Adrien Nunez: 291st(!) / 3-star

Not sure what happened with the Nunez composite ranking - earlier today he was at 216.  Regarless, we end up with 1 Top 50 recruit and 3 total in the Top 100.  Four 4-star recruits and one 3-star recruit.

For those interested, Taylor Currie ended up at as a 3-star at 191. Also, Indiana still has a chance to bring the Big 10 it's lone Top 10 recruit if they can sign Romeo Langford (6th in the composite).  He would join Jalen Smith (14th in the composite / signed with Maryland) as the lone 5-star recruits in the B1G for 2018.

Potential basketball transfers. Out of the running for Matt Mooney, but in for Dachon Burke?

Potential basketball transfers. Out of the running for Matt Mooney, but in for Dachon Burke?

LINK for Matt Mooney

On Monday, he indicated he’d narrowed the choices for his next school down to Texas Tech, Creighton, Arizona State, Northwestern and Utah State.

With Ibi Watson transferring, and Wagner going pro, Michigan has 1 available scholarship and he seemed like the perfect option.

LINK predicting Dachon Burke (he would have to sit out a year).  Dachon Burke STATS

Has anyone else heard any other names as potential transfers (grad or not)?

Why John Beilein is 1st on Michigan's basketball Mt. Rushmore

I recall a post 4 or 5 years ago ranking Michigan basketball coaches.  Everyone agreed that Beilein was up there, but some thought that Fisher, Orr or Strack (all great coaches) had done as much or more.  As someone who has had tickets since the late 90s I think that this article does an excellent job of summarizing how far we've come.  The 2009 tournament bid was a revelation (Crisler was half full for the televised announcement), and back then the idea that we'd be finalists twice in 5 years was something that no one would've thought possible.

In any case, this article puts what Beilein has accomplished in the last decade in outstanding perspective and I think is worth a read:

If Moe Should Go

Where should Moe go, you know?

Ok, I apologize for that. But, what would your pick be for the NBA landing place for our favorite Berliner?

I'll take the easy one, and let someone more savvy think of something smart. Golden State, with all the shooting that they already have, could provide a unique opportunity: can you imagine the pick and pop, and probably offensive sets specific to the talent of that personnel set?

Ok, what else do you have for me?

I watched the World team beat the US squad at the Nike Hoops Summit yesterday. Ignas Brazdeikis had a line of 9 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast, 1 steal. Iggy can get to the rim and finish, proof positive was a drive & finish over Bol Bol. I was torn between DeJulius and Iggy, but I think Iggy will have a bigger impact next season. What say you?

Per Jeff Goodman

Siena, which is located in Albany, accepted the resgnation of Jimmy Patsos today. Patsos is probably best known as the coach who double teamed Steph Curry the whole game while he was at Loyola Maryland. They lost that game by 30.

Did Graham Couch write a good article?

Did Graham Couch write a good article?

So, it looks like Graham Couch has now “turned” on Izzo/MSU. In the article he seems to realize that this is not a bunch of isolated incidents and that maybe there was some substance to the ESPN reports.

“If the school’s counselors aren’t believing victims of sexual assault and, instead, are protecting their alleged perpetrators, beloved athletes in this case, MSU is sicker than we realized.”

I think Izzo said after he lost to eleven seeded Syracuse that “You’re not breaking me, I know that.” Well if his biggest slappies and supporters in the media are turning on him too, what will break him? Is there going to have to be two, three, four more stories like this for something to happen?

I know people will say we post to much about MSU and I don’t care about them. Thought it was relevant after he wrote some stupid s*** after the ESPN report first broke. Just seems to be seeing everything in a different light now that more info/more cases are out there.
