According to @_ARHoops on Twitter, potential Witichita State transfer Austin Reaves will not be visiting Michigan this weekend. I would like to think this means someone else has quietly taken his potential spot. Please embed for the board (damn paywall!)
Reading up this morning on the GOAT debate over at ESPN, and was just curious to which camp you are all in? It maybe a generation thing, but I think MJ's path to success was more....."un-artficial"
MJ didn't have "decisions" and hop around to teams to chase championships. He made his teamates better, not his situation better. What do you all think?
Great long-form piece about Mo Bamba's NBA draft prep over at the Ringer: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/5/10/17337970/mo-bamba-nba-draft-lot…
Interesting bits on Greer Love, the Michigan MBA who is sort of his manager/butler/best friend.
Jerry Meyer, Director of Basketball Scouting for 247, just put in a CB for Jalen Wilson to Michigan last night after Wilson released his top 6. This is obviously an important CB to receive and is a good sign for us. Jalen Wilson is 5*, #15 player overall according to 247 and a 4*, #28 player and the highest ranked 4* in the 247 composite rankings.
Elite 2019 SF prospect from TX, ranked #28 in 247's composite rankings. Michigan has one of the three Crystal Ball picks so far. Other finalists are Baylor, Kansas, Marquette, Oklahoma State, and UCLA. He is supposed to be visiting this coming weekend, according to reporting from late last month.
And then There were 6.....
According to this list from Yahoo Sports, it appears that Charles Matthews didn't receive a combine invite, which goes against what was previously reported.
Obviously this bodes well for his chances of returning. Interestingly enough MSU's Nick Ward, IU's Juwan Morgan and Purdue's Carsen Edwards also didn't get invites, so they also will most likely be back
Who knows if either will end up happening, but it's the offseason so I thought it was interesting.
2019 5 star PG Tyrese Maxey has Michigan in final 5, announces May 9
So Michigan probably has a VERY VERY slim chance of landing him, BUT we are in his top 5 so can't rule it out all together. Kentucky looks like the heavy favorite.
Maxey told Prep Circuit that all of his finalist schools have told him there is a scholarship available for him should he reclassify to 2018.
Thought that last quote was interesting because we do have an open spot for 18'.
Reaves is a 6'5" guard from Wichita State who shot 43% from 3 with about 4 attempts/game.
According to Arkansas Hoops on Twitter, Reaves had been contacted by the Wolverines shortly after announcing his intentions to transfer in April.
Reaves averaged 8.1 points per game in 21.5 minutes during the 2017-18 season. Mostly a bench player, he had started 11 games for the Shockers during the season.
Michigan will face George Washington and Providence will play South Carolina in the first round of the 2018 Hall-of-Fame Tip Off at Mohegan Sun, per a source.
South Carolina is already a scheduled home game for later in the year, so we could play them twice.
