Sunday Evening Meetup in San Antonio - Extra Tickets (sold)

First off, GO BLUE!   This is a knock-on-wood type post, but if we advance tomorrow I will post details about a HomeSure Lending Sponsored MGoBlog meetup at a bar in San Antonio. First beer on me.

Secondarily, Go Blue!  Our group ended up with 4 extra seats all games, upper-end zone, bottom third. I would prefer selling them to someone who hates Ted Valentine as much as I do. Priced below market, since StubHub is a greedy monster who takes it on both ends.  Email me mgoblog (a) homesurelending.com if interested.

Is it Saturday yet????

Beilein vs Switching

Beilein vs Switching

I'm ready for some basketball.

So, the scouting stuff continues to pour out of major media outlets, some of which is well-covered in the main page's UV.

I have a question: It has been the case most of the season that Michigan's vulnerability has been switches. We don't seem to have the ball-handling to punish those kinds of mismatches well.

Loyola and Villanova both switch big-time.

What adjustments are we going to see Michigan make? How did they combat this in the B1G tournament (facing switch-factories Nebraska and Purdue) and will it work this weekend?

Bring on the basketball.

NY Times Loyola op-ed

NY Times Loyola op-ed

[Apologies if this has been posted but I haven't seen it here.]

Earlier this week, the New York Times carried an opinion piece by a Loyola professor contrasting education (i.e., Loyola) and "big-money" schools (i.e., Michigan).

A good education means knowing the importance of evidence. Yet this champion of education neglected to note that 4 of Michigan's top players made All Academic Big Ten. In addition, he ignored Michigan's international reputation for academics. (It's also harder to get into than Loyola: UM's 29% acceptance rate vs. L-C's 60%).

Moe Wagner articles on being hated by opposing fans & playing Spurs at 17 yrs old

Thought these were both interesting articles.  The first talks about how Wagner matches up to Krutwig, and how he embraces being hated by opposing fans.  The 2nd is from a local San Antonio site and talks about he got to play the Spurs with his club team as a 17 year old when they travelled to Germany, which would have to have been an incredible experience in high school.

Final Four in Charleston SC - Bar Recommendations

Final Four in Charleston SC - Bar Recommendations

I'll be in SC for the game - hoping someone can suggest an establishment to watch with fellow Wolverines. I've looked online and found two recommendations - one from an old Reddit post which claims the Carolina Ale House downtown, and a Facebook group claiming Southern Roots BBQ in West Ashley. After looking at Google photos from inside both bars, I have yet to see a block M anywhere. Hoping someone from the MGoCommunity can help find the ideal viewing location. Go Blue!

We are now down to the wire; Wolverines are gathering in San Antonio to cheer on this marvelous group of young men. Michigan is so blessed to have John Beilein for a coach - to show how (in this unsettling time for college basketball) things can be done the right way. As a coach, as a teacher, and as a man he will lead the Wolverines to victory on Saturday with class and style. Go Blue!!

They are on ESPN2 right now.

Katelyn Flaherty of Michigan is shooting in women’s three point competition. She also participated in a team shots challenge a few minutes ago.

Edit: Flaherty wins the womens’s competition and then comes up short against the men’s champion from William’s and Mary.
