Trey Townsend picks Arizona hoops

Oakland transfer Trey Townsend, the Horizon League player of the year, has committed to Arizona, he told ESPN.

Townsend was a breakout NCAA tournament star, helping No. 14 seed Oakland upset Kentucky, and scoring 30 points vs N.C. State.

He picked Arizona over OSU. The guy will be a big plus for Arizona.

OSU not taking Coach May (thankfully)  and sticking with Diebler in this new NCAA world was a mistake.

Arizona owns Michigan in basketball.  Arizona has had our number going back to 1995. The Fab Five almost even lost to UCLA in the second round on Arizona's floor.  We need to break the cycle at some point.

Weird, maybe, but I can remember lot of painful losses to 'zona.

And they cheated, too! (Not sure how much under Olson, but obviously often under Sean Miller, who never once reached the Final Four with them in twelve years.)

Good luck to him.  Hopefully he's getting paid and he's going to a successful program.  I don't know that I would describe Tucson as paradise but hey it's not Columbus or East Lansing.

I'm fine with it. From what I understand, he had a short visit here and we didn't want/couldn't match his price tag.

But too small to play center and from what it seems, posting up a 4-man in a black hole esque offense doesn't appear to align with May's philosophy. Much more intrigued with potentially 3 years of Walters and 2 years of Wolf at that spot.
