Maybe it's just me, but this whole thing is a bit weird.

Chugging beer off a catfish?

Encouraging your little kid to chug?  (Albeit water)

I don't know, maybe I've finally reached the "get off my lawn" age.

Is it, "ideal" no, but nobody expects ideal behavior from Lewan.  Enjoy it for what it is, a proud father showing his kid that they're appreciated and worthy.  There's a lot better things in life to kick off your yard than a kid and their dad having a positive memory she'll remember forever.

Maybe it's me but I doubt we would see something similar from Brady.

Kids emulate parental behavior.  I'm sure my kids did their fair share of downing one too many while students at Michigan and we often had a beer or shot of Scotch together, but not when they were seven and not in excess.

Taylor Lewan is clearly trying to get attention any way that he can. Between trying to goad Jalen Milroe into a clickbaity quote and a whole news story about getting into a chugging contest with his daughter, it’s just a matter of time until he reaches [name redacted] level of hot takes.

Everything I hear about this guy is against my will. If he ever does anything nice or supportive or mature, please post that and I’ll duly upvote. Until then, can we treat him like any other person who obviously hasn’t matured since middle school?

Lewan's interview with Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards was weird, especially the part with BC towards the end. BC shrugged it off like a pro.

Reminds me of an MLB situation.

There was a “journalist” who apparently decided that his schtick was going to be “getting confrontational and insulting towards people”, and decided to make Marcus Thames his next victim.

Problem was, Marcus Thames was (maybe is?) one of the nicest, quietest, gentlest (unless you were a hanging curveball) players in the league, and once word got around, people prepared for this “journalist”, basically either refusing to engage or throwing it right back in his face.

Lewan isn’t going to get many more interviews if word gets around that he tries to trick people into saying things that aren’t in their best interests.

Well the ones that hung up in the zone frequently made it past the center field fence.

The curveballs that actually curved made it into the catcher’s mitt, idly glancing up at the shadow of a bat passing harmlessly over them en route.

For those who don't know that was a Major League reference:

and FWIW Jesus was famous for hitting curve balls.  In Mark 12 (I had to look it up) the Pharisees and Herodians try to catch Jesus in his words by asking him if they should pay taxes to Caesar.

15 Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16 They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

His interview during 2022 spring practice with Harbaugh was so weird. Harbaugh rarely sat down to give interviews outside of required media appearances (aside from the first few seasons of his tenure). So to get an opportunity like that and use it to ask him if was a "meat peeker" in the locker room and shower? Harbaugh was obviously super weirded out and awkward in response to the question. Like grow the fuck up. This isn't the 8th grade anymore.

It seems like it was a lifetime memory for his daughter, happy to know that she will always have that memory with her Dad.

Preds fans throwing Catfish on the ice has always felt lame to me.  I mean, I get it, it was started by folks in Nashville in direct reponse to Red Wings fans, but it's a blatant rip-off of the octupi.

Get your own thing Preds.  And go Canucks tomorrow night, end this series (they should have ended it the other night, but blew it).

I, as Preds fan, would strongly argue that they should be up.  But Boeser played like his hair was on fire for the last 3 minutes of game 4.  I would also like to point out that in appearance the Preds are looking better each game and Vancouver seems to be wilting.  We shall see what they do tomorrow night though.

Yes that makes sense, condition your child to adore the chants of 25k people to chug her drink. That couldn’t backfire at all. Nahhhh

Most deaths related to water intoxication in healthy individuals have resulted from water-drinking contests.

Lewan was a good player but wish he came in under a coach like Carr or Harbaugh who I think would have ameliorated his butthole behavior a bit.   Remember he clocked a OSU fan at a bar then denied it.  And indirectly threatened the woman involved with Gibbons.

I was at the Women's Football Academy when he was on the team and I sat with him and Patrick Omameh at lunch. He was personable in that venue. I told him I had lived in Scottsdale for a few years in middle school and had I stayed, I would've gone to the same high school as him, so that sparked some good conversation. Obviously, there were some other things that happened while he was at Michigan, but during this event, he was likable and friendly.

Lewan’s dad was seated right behind me at The Game this past year.
He was an incredibly nice and funny guy. Couple OSU guys were giving him shit about Rich Rod and he said “if not for Rich Rod, I don’t know if my son would have had the future he now has”

As the kids would say, the comments in this thread does not pass the vibe check.

Jesus, people here are weirdly uptight regarding select former players - even if the player did some shitty stuff back in the day - to the point that they are finding issue with this video or using any reference to the player to air their hatred of them a decade after the fact.

While the prude in me who didn't really drink before freshman year of college wants to shame Lewan for his unhealthy attitude towards drinking and the potential effect it might have on his daughters development, I can't.  Chugging a beer is stupid, but not much more stupid than seeing who can pee farther, the one chip challenge, feats of strength and all of the other things that give life a little zest.  Carpe Diem.
