Friday Night BBQ, Beverage and How the [Expletive] Do You Post a Picture Thread
Mates,
Later start than usual, but we haven't had one of these in quite a while. Of course, what is or was on your plate, your BBQ, and in your cup?
Second, are you going to be at the Big House tomorrow?
Third, I see that I am not the only one who no longer has the ability to post pictures and gifs. However, I see that a few of you do, and I'm jealous.
Can one of you big brain folks teach a small brain like myself how to post a picture/gif? Would be greatly appreciated.
Hope you are well. Spring is here. Big meteor shower tomorrow night if you're in a clear place.

I used to work at a great BBQ joint and one of my great joys was pulling the pork shoulder apart by hand. (Eating said pork was another, natch.)
okay, so i've done it twice now. incredibly counter-intuitive, but hopefully will get better at it, or it'll get fixed in the backroom of mgoblog
Two Meeeechigan Wolverine legends and two of my all-time favorites 🏈

Right, any well-designed site that has the Embed Code easily available to copy will work. YouTube videos also have this feature available.
My dog seems to always misbehave on Friday so we call it Bad Boy Fridays. Today, he rolled in cat shit on his evening walk so we had to give him a bath. Now he's licking my arm as I try to drink a vodka soda.
I'm bringing my wife to her first spring game tomorrow and she invited her Spartan dad in an effort to convert him. It should be a fun day!
kap, avatar and dog comment at odds. head 'splode.
convert that sparty and have fun tomorrow.
Drinking Busch heavy tonight. One of my closer uncles passed away last night unexpectedly in his sleep. Busch was his beer or choice and tonight they are going down just fine.
My condolences to you and your family.🙏
Have a Busch heavy for me 🍺
Condolences BlueMetal.

Sorry to hear about that, BlueMetal. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Evening, XM et al.
The ol' photo feature--where you click the mountain pic--has been broken for a week or so. Management has been notified. (I was going to go on a little riff about Picture Pages, but then I remembered who came up with that. Damn catchy ditty, though.)
Tonight's beverage of choice is Natty Light, which is of couse the only Natty there is. I'm no purist when it comes to beer, but I am one where language is concerned. UM has never won a Natty, but I bought 12 of 'em.
I spent the last couple of months reading "The Stand." Then I watched the 2020 miniseries (terrible), and I'm just finishing the 1994 miniseries (even more terrible). I have no freaking idea how to post a pic anymore.
wendy, last i heard your son was working with an MLB team (cubs?). without getting too detailed, what is he up to now?
April 19th, 2024 at 10:03 PM ^
He's in Kodak, TN with the Cubs AA team, the Smokies. We tune in on MILB TV and see him in the bullpen, which is the weirdest thing ever! He loves it -- it's like living Bull Durham.

Proud Mom brag!!👍

Yes indeed! To be honest, my husband and I still can't believe it. Like, is that really the kid who spent all his free time in high school gaming in the basement?

how fun is that. good on you and son (and dad). just keep susan sarandon away from him....

gratuitous post of a gif just so i could practice the awkward, non-sensical pain in the keester method we now have to post them. and apparently only giphy, no other method/source.

Michigan baseball shut out Ohio State today 4-0 getting its first shutout win since 2022!! Gratuitous funny baseball GIF
Love the book. The 1994 is tolerable if you go into it knowing it was a made for tv series, at least in my opinion. Have you read the Dark Tower series? Highly recommend.
April 20th, 2024 at 10:48 AM ^
I haven't but will probably tackle it this summer. I read King's original unedited version of The Stand. Almost 1200 pages. That was a big commitment.
So is the Dark Tower series. It’s the best writing and storytelling of King’s career.
Threw a small slab of back ribs in the oven early this afternoon as I had to take my father to the doctor (in preparation for moving him into memory care next week) and I wasn't sure how long that might take. Not as good as on the grill, but they were tasty, and they are a favorite food of my Dad. Oven roasted some potato wedges while the ribs rested, microwaved a head of broccoli. Good dinner. Then went to the assisted living facility where I recently moved my mother-in-law, to sit with her for a couple hours as I do morning and evening.
Just got home, and lack the energy to pour myself a drink (have some Big Hearted out in the garage--maybe tomorrow) before falling into bed--as soon as I can get my Dad into his for the night: sometimes he gets up two or three or five times after I think he is tucked in. He has often said the growing old ain't for sissies; I can add that taking care of a 90-year-old who has moderate dementia and memory loss ain't for sissies either.
Tomorrow I get to go out to The Farm to plant more things that will not grow--fence posts for my deer D-fence, so that I may grow things that I want to both grow and eventually be able to harvest. Therefore I shall not be making the trek from the East Landfill area for the spring game, nor will I be watching it. Please, everybody, learn to attach gifs and pictures so you can post them about the game and so I can enjoy all the highlights after the fact!
living some of that with you, rendezvous. gave FIL haircut and a shave today. sponge bath. clean shirt. then fed him what little he would eat. last stage parkinsons. every morning i expect to wake with a missed call that he's gone. praying for mercy for him. MIL is the one with memory issues but still fairly functional. for now.

My heart goes out to both of you Rendezvous and XM. I won't be going to the spring game as my family will be with my Dad at Washtenong on the 4th anniversary of my Mom's passing, which was from dementia. She really passed a few years before that when the dementia took hold . Just an awful disease for the patient and those around them. Total respect for those of you caretakers.

We just put my mother in a senior living place. Still independent living but after spending a lot of time with her during this process, I realized she's been pulling one over on us. Dementia has definitely set in. So I've taken over bill paying and managing all her stuff. I'm hoping that making life simpler will keep her independent longer.
Having been the only child (of four) willing to care for and protect my mother and father over the course of about 10 years? You each have my absolute sympathies, understanding, and huge respect. It's heart breaking work --- that has to be done.
The end, when it comes, is not a bang, it's more of an exhausted whimper. Again, sorry!
Twenty BW3 dry rub lemon Pepper flats with Blue Cheese and two Miller Lights.
April 19th, 2024 at 10:19 PM ^
What's your flat technique? I'm more of a drum guy.
April 20th, 2024 at 10:15 AM ^
At BW3 shrinkflation has taken hold of the drums. I typically like a mix but a really like their dry rub lemon pepper.
For the flats I just heavy dip and stuff half long ways in my mouth bite down and pull. Flip around do the same to other side and then clean it all up. Heavy Blue Cheese.
Grabbed a burger from Culver’s, dispatched a couple Miller Lites and looking forward to crashing. At least there is a spring game to look forward to.

Got an 8th of Gary Payton and just watched the CFP Championship game for the <insert ridiculously large number> time. Good times.

I’ve watched the Bama semifinal more times than the CFP championship game.
Ditto.

Same for me, I watched that Thursday night. Nothing I would change about the Rose Bowl, it was perfect.
