1) First, the AD won't really be subsidizing road trips. Rather, they will help provide a vehicle through which to organize along with easier access to tickets and transportation. Second, we are really intending this to be a group for student season ticket holders but we're open to possibilites down the road. 2) We have not talked directly with any of these groups. However, we have looked in to some of the stuff they do just to get ideas. 3) This is definitely something we have talked about and the athletic department doesn't have any issues with it. Hopefully we can even point out opposing players with dirty mullets and porno moustaches. |

Along with Child of Yost, I'm the other guy trying to get this group off the ground. One of the first things we mentioned to the Athletic Department in our meetings was that we do not want to be used as a means to police the student section. Subsequently, they have never once suggested that we help change or curtail cheers. Even they are hesitant about getting too involved; surely they do not want to be associated with us too much when cheers are criticized. We realize the tradition and spontaneity of Yost are what make it so special. Because of that we have no desire to change or coordinate cheers. A lot of what we want to do involves activities outside Yost such as away games, pre-game tailgates, and things such as hockey night at a UM Baseball game (Maize Rage has done this). Obviously the Athletic Department has more resources which we can use. Working with the Dekers is certainly a great idea, and one we will hopefully pursue. We really appreciate all the feedback; we want to make sure this can be a group for all student hockey fans to come and voice ideas. |
