One reason I think Walton's toe is obviously a significant part is that he (at least in a feelingsball way, because I don't have the data) seemed to finish much better last year at or near the rim. And we know he's at the very least not less-strong than last year after another year in the S&C program. So the explanation has to be the injury is killing his explosion both in driving and jumping?

Walton is just starting to look close to right again. Spike needs surgery. AndvI think when Irvin took that hit in the Syracuse game it caused enough to affect his form so he's been off. Injuries are part of the game, but them happening early when the freshmen weren't as ready to step in was bad timing.

I wouldn't expect guys who have been decided/committed for a while (like Rosen) to listen at this late point, but a TE that isn't decided and had been considering Michigan before? You'd have to be nuts not to at least listen considering Stanford's record of putting TEs in the league that Harbaugh played and/or recruited there, particularly Fleener, Ertz and Toilolo

The Bears aren't going to pay him the 7-8 million he'd command. They're the least of my worries as far as competition with Michigan, and I'm a Bears fan. I mean, only a week or two ago everyone figured Trestman was safe because the Bears owners are cheap and wouldn't want to let Trestman go with multiple years left on his deal, but their hand has been forced by the team pretty obviously quitting on him.

Yeah, we all know our owners are too cheap to go after Harbaugh anyway.

Sightline-wise, it's one of the best in the NFL. In their attempt to try to keep the historic colonnades (they lost their National Register designation anyway), they were forced to build the stadium within the old stadium. This makes the stadium steeper than many, but also means that even seats toward the top are not super-far away from the field horizontally so I think they end up with the best cheaper seats in the league. It's also not a big stadium by capacity.
I'm not even sure you'll have to worry about jerky fans much either. You run into them everywhere in the league really, but with the team pretty much having quit, lots of fans will sell their tickets or just not go, and those that do show up will probably not really give a crap or will be there as much to boo as anything.

Unlike some other years, this Kentucky team is ridiculous. So much talent, if anyone isn't playing up to snuff they have multiple options to take his spot. Duke and maybe Arizona are even close. Obviously in the tourney a team could shoot the lights out on them but this Kentucky team looks even stronger than the Brow/MKG/et al squad that won it a few years ago

And Latos is headed to the Marlins. By process of elimination (Tigers don't have the prospects to get Cueto, Reds are trying to cut salary so it won't be a cheap pre-arb guy like Cingrani, Leake is likely to be in the 9 million range in arb) it's almost certainly Leake that the Tigers are close to getting.

Same issue with Narduzzi - the DC of a defense coach, how much of it is the DC, or is it Saban/Dantonio that makes the defense go?

I guess he's a risk, but at the same time, what's the risk? Frankly, the program isn't even mediocre right now. What's he going to do, miss a bowl game? Oh, right. Guy can clearly coach, and he's an ace recruiter. I suppose the other risk is he's young enough that he could go supernova and go to the NFL. If he does that, it means we've been in the playoff probably more than once. Sign me up for that problem!
And the old crabby down in front crowd will LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mensa thing.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I don't think you have to||
I don't think you have to worry about the Bears regardless. Everyone assumes that Trestman will be back because the Bears are cheap and never fire coaches so quickly. Even if they do fire Trestman, they (read: ownership) do not show any inclination to spend the 8 million or whatever it would cost for Harbaugh.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||They were just shooting an||
They were just shooting an ungodly percentage. I mean, one of them was a stepback 3 with Walton draped all over him. Another one was from like 30 feet. They hit a running floater from 7, 8 feet out with our best defender (Caris) practically in his shorts AND Doyle getting over to challenge. Sometimes they just can't miss.
The defensive problems were more in regards to them getting in the lane at will for a while. The D tightened up on that and then everything they threw up there went in anyway.

Ole Miss is not the same thing as Mississippi State. That's like saying "well, Michigan draws recruits and Michigan State has great facilities so MIchigan State can do the same thing." Granted, Ole Miss is not exactly comparable to Michigan as a historical program, but Michigan State also has way more credibility historically than their MSU counterpart. But within Mississippi, Ole Miss is the "big brother".
And both of them are pretty much permanently behind Bama, Auburn, LSU and aTm in recruiting pecking order.

Being the offensive coordinator for the Broncos right now is similar to Josh McDaniels being Tom Brady's quarterback coach. Peyton Manning coordinates that offense. I'm not even sure how much the OC even calls the plays, particularly since Peyton can just change them anyway.

He doesn't want to speak for the next coach, but yeah, Mattison came to coach under Brady, and I'm pretty sure he even said he wouldn't have done it for someone else. So he's probably retiring, or maybe headed back to the NFL eventually if he wants to still coach, but he's not going to be sticking around.

Bill Martin got the department from fiscal problems to a fiscal powerhouse running a surplus every year (before the BTN and other money cannons were truly going), got many of the upgrades and renovations going for our facilities, and frankly, hired a good football coach that just didn't work out. We could do a hell of a lot worse than another Bill Martin.
Like Goss and Brandon, actually.
