I'm not so sure that this is not going to not work out well. Or not.
|14 hours 33 min ago||You lose nothing by asking||
You lose nothing by asking for an evaluation and you get some input as to what NBA scouts think you need to improve. If you are at all a potentially draftable prospect, I don't see why you wouldn't take advantage of that.

He would have been nuts to leave, this doesn't really have much to do with Izzo convincing guys to stay longer. MAYBE he goes in the 2nd round if he left, but a guy with wing size with neither a jumper nor the ability to break guys down off the dribble doesn't really have anywhere to play in the NBA.

Would anyone be that surprised if he ended up at an Ivy for his grad year?
|1 week 6 days ago||He's got the right height for||
He's got the right height for the NBA, could play some point when needed (and someone might even draft him with the idea of making him a point), rebounds exceptionally well for a guy as skinny as he is, and a pretty good defender who always drew the toughest assignments. And he'll be a sophomore by age. If he puts on a little more muscle to help him finish in traffic and continues his development elsewhere, I think he's in the lottery, and who knows how high he could go.

It actually sounds like Cal realized that calling plays too much was getting in the way of the talent and he's basically just told Andrew Harrison to run the offense. There frankly aren't that many coaches that would both recognize it and actually actively take less control over the game. Lots of coaches are crazy control freaks.
He's still probably dirtier than dirt in a dirt sandwich though.

Maclin blew his ACL last July and sat out all of last year as a result

State rode on adrenaline probably from not wanting to go 0-fer-3 against their rival and built a lead, and that was that. The second half in particular was terrible basketball.

I should note that those getting rejected with those scores are almost certainly applying to Illinois' engineering or business schools, which are both some of the best in the country. You can get into their equivalent of LSA with a lower score in all likelihood. There was something like a 10 point difference in ACT median between engineering and the CAS back when I graduated high school some 20 years ago. I'm sure competition for spots in engineering and business has only gotten more difficult.

That play-in 11 sits several spots higher than Michigan on KenPom, so I wouldn't exactly consider that an easy one should Michigan get past Texas and should Tennessee get past Mercer.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||I don't know if I want to be||
I don't know if I want to be in a world where a team coached by Rick Barnes beats Beilein. It can't happen. KenPom therefore must be correct, KenPom be praised.
I should note that potential Sweet 16 opponent Tennessee is actually even higher on KenPom than Duke. Which, yikes. Yeah, they and Iowa really didn't belong in a play-in game.

So hard to bet this year's tournament. Michigan could obliterate any team in the tournament with a performance like they had against Illinois or Nebraska 2 (or last year's Florida tournament game). Do we know other teams that play a Wisco-style pack line defense?
I'd definitely be on money lines for individual games.

The one tweak I would make is to allow the people or groups with "Superfan" status to pick where they want to be. Not everyone wants to be in the very front. I thought you got better views of the game from around row 25-30 or so.

Rookie receivers rarely make a big impact unless they're the Moss/Megatron level. So as a Bears fan, by all means trade several picks for a guy who will probably not even help that much this year!

Depending on the game time and living in Chicago, Amtrak isn't a bad option getting up there either.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Hey, if he can make it back||
Hey, if he can make it back to be there if either 1) both Morgan and Horford get in foul trouble, or 2) if the team clearly needs an energy boost and Beilein feels like sending in the Berserker to shake things up, it'd only help. I'd trust the staff to not put him in too much, he'd obviously be in no shape to play anything resembling significant minutes, and Morgan has frankly earned the right to start. But it would be nice to have him available even if he could only play 5-10 minutes, a few small bursts of energy to give the others a rest and cause some chaos as he usually does.

Has there ever been a game like Nebraska/Wisconsin this weekend where so many people want to see Nebraska win? I mean, everyone can't stand Wisconsin basketball, and anyone who doesn't want to see Nebraska make the tournament is a blackhearted evil jackwagon. And it's even in the Crapper Flatscreen Center, where Nebraska has been damn near unbeatable*
*does not apply to Michigan
|6 weeks 13 hours ago||Indiana needed to beat||
Indiana needed to beat Nebraska, beat Michigan, and then probably win at least two games in the BTT to have a shot at an at-large. They lost to Nebraska. Their path to the tourney now rests on winning the BTT, making this game pretty much meaningless for them, so I wouldn't be surprised if Vonleh sat out again.

They'll have it down to 5 or so by the break, and I see them roaring out in the second half. Too many good shooters on Michigan, and the Johnson brothers aren't going to play out of their mind the entire way.
