I remember the word on the street being that the restaurant was on the crappy side. Drove past it on several occasions but could never get the wife to stop. Was surprised that Bo had his name on it. Always assumed someone just snatched "Bo" and used it anyway, trying to play off his name.

1. Bo loved helmet stickers. Rick Leach and Little Gordy Bell looked great with helmet stickers. I love helmet stickers.
2. I love maize. I love the new uniforms.
3. I love the dark blue. I love the skinny M. I've never owned any hat other than the skinny M.
Yep, I'm an old fart, but I do love the Bo era 70's stuff. Can't help it, grew up on it.

I've assumed they would suck this year. If anyone does think Maryland is any good, then yes, they are overrated. I see them as a .500 team at best. They have middling talent and even less impressive coaching.
Have to agree on MSU. Next year will be the overrated year. As stated above, a 5th yr senior QB and a talented OL can make up for a lot of sins. Send Cook and Conklin to the NFL, and graduate Allen and a couple of receivers/TEs, and things get dicey for the Spartans.

from the Golden Goofballs since Kill took over. The guy is a solid coach. They seem to win when they should, lose when they should, and pick up an upset here and there. I just think they are well coached. That being said, the scheduling difference in the crossovers between Minny and Wisky will keep them from even being close, as you point out.

Also love the Dennis Franklin reference.
Given that Harbaugh and I are nearly the same age, probably not a huge surprise that road whites are cool with me.

I have really enjoyed getting to know more about players that I'm not familiar with. This recap was very well done.
As was stated above by someone (I'm too lazy to scroll back and find the person), I'm starting to think PSU might be pretty damn good if the OL can be even mediocre. It feels like they have a lot of pieces in place to make life tough for the top teams. Maybe I'm just buying into the hype too much, I certainly hope that is the case.

the best athlete in the MSU secondary with Nicholson. He did look out of position in the Cotton Bowl while at CB. He will need to have made some big strides in the spring and this fall to even be a decent CB. No doubt that MSU's secondary will be their weak spot. They will really need their DL to apply pressure quickly to keep the secondary from getting exposed.

Or did Vicious Vic's team seem to be in motion on every play? Couldn't believe the movement on his O line wasn't drawing more flags.
That being said, I love Vic's physicality. You've seen a ton of guys at Stanford play like this in recent times. He'll be on the field somewhere for Harbaugh.

New QB in Foles is a solid pickup.
Always been a Jeff Fisher fan.

The crew does a great job recapping a bunch of players you may have only heard about, or some younger guys who are coming into prominence. Good stuff.

SEC QB play? It's not good. B1G QBs are overall better.
Jack Conklin was one of the top 5 OL in the B1G last year. Expect he and Decker from OSU are the top two this year. He did a great job on Bosa and only gave up one sack to Oakman. Dude is a beast and athletic as hell. He put a hurtin' on an Oregon CB who made a pick in last year's game. Geiger had a hip injury all last year which affected his accuracy and distance immensely. Expect a return to his freshman form. Punter is a huge question mark as Hartbarger has a massive leg but is very inconsistent.
Nicholson is a beast at S. If he matures quickly, the secondary will automatically be better regardless of who is at corner. He's a faster, bigger version of Drummond.
If Sparty can get past Oregon at home, the real showdown is in Columbus on November 21st. I do expect the Maize and Blue to actually show up this year after two years of absolutely embarrassing performances in EL (I still cannot believe those were MEEECHIGAN teams), but Harbaugh will need some time to turn things around.
One thing about Sparty - they are consistent as hell. I'll give them 11-2.

Maryland's stadium is like three totally different stadiums morphed into one, with none of them being good. Northwestern's stadium is outclassed by several Texas HS stadiums - feel free to drop a few bucks on improvements, Wildkittens. Spartan Stadium has zero charm - it feels like a WWII bunker with all that cement. Hollis keeps trying to put lipstick on the pig - good luck with that. Special bonus - Beaver Stadium. Sat in the endzone upper deck - completely sucked except for the sight line. Could really see plays develop, but I was exhausted from the hike.

Every fan I ran into (except one jackwad behind us in the stands) were great. Had a fun time post game at the bar talking with a few Hawkeye faithful. Really enjoyed the experience.

Bob is a legend. I still have my autographed copy of his first album (that's vinyl for you young-uns). I wrote Bob a fan letter in 1977, and got the album in the mail as a response. Unbelievable that he did that for a 12 year old kid. Don Lund was his "color" man (like Ufer needed one), and my dad and I used to laugh as Don would try to stick in a comment, only to be steamrolled by Ufer. Great man, great sportscaster...and about 50% of the reason I went to UM.

I met BuckNut at a game a couple of years ago. Actually a decent guy, but funny enough, he's not an OSU grad and was working on the factory floor at Whirlpool. I think he said his brother may have gone to OSU. That being said, OSU remains the recipient of 100% of my vitriol. They completely suck. I hate Columbus. Their colors are putrid. Their fans are inbred. That feels better, I'm done.

They portend zero in regard to future performance. A big who cares.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||LIke the Ohio data, Ace.||
I've been concerned about the lack of Ohio activity, but I think you've uncovered the main reason with "only" 11 4 star or better kids in this class. We have long had Ohio kids act as pillars of our program, and I'd hate to see this end. The 2016/7 recruiting cycles may change our position relative to OSU and others, especially when the victories start piling up.

but in all honesty, its not a bad place to watch a game. Maybe too sanitized, but the sight lines and giant scoreboard for replays aren't bad.

Mani Osteria is amazing and worth the effort if there is a wait. Everything is very well prepared, the wine selection is solid, and the bar does a good job. I'm a big fan of Lena. They happen to make a really good mojito so you can channel your inner Hemingway (Ernest, not Junior). The food is different from the rest of the places on Main. Recently sat outside at Sava's on State St. Food is above average, and the atmosphere in their small courtyard is excellent.

My wife gave each of our sons a cookie jar filled with rubbers. Said she didn't want them coming home with grandkids or diseases. She's a nurse, so there definitely was a practicality factor involved.

|28 weeks 4 days ago||Good recap||
A couple of thougths:
The OL became a strength when Bollman showed up. Many people mocked his hiring, but I don't think it is coincidence that MSU's line play (and TE play) improved when Bollman arrived. The guy may have had a boring offense at OSU, but I think he is an good position coach. Yeah, I know he's not technically the OL coach, but it's been said he has been working with the current OL coach on techniques, etc.
The RB situation is unsettled, but I look for Madre London to be the main workhorse. Delton Williams didn't seem to have the confidence of the staff last year, he was a forgotten man in several games.
The DB situation will be the key to the MSU season. If Oregon's QB situation is better than it appears, MSU could get torched again by the Ducks. If the coaching staff doesn't figure out how to stop well executed spread concepts (OSU, Oregon, Baylor), this team will not ascend any further. When Purdue can implement key parts of Oregon's playbook in a short period of time and exploit your D, you have issues with your concept, as has been shown on this site last fall.
And I totally agree on Nicholson. Kid is a freak athlete and will haunt UM for awhile. Hoke & Co. whiffed badly on that one. From what I've read, the Nicholson was focused on academics, and UM would have been a great fit.

The guy has such a unique take I'm surprised he doesn't have a Bourdain type show less the food. Fascinating reporter.
