3 weeks 2 days ago | Just a great season |
Coach Beilein has earned every accolade coming to him for his masterful job handling this team. What a fun group to watch develop. The future is bright and I’m excited to see what’s ahead for the Maize and Blue. Very proud to be a fan of our basketball program tonight, even in defeat. We simply lost to a better team. |
12 weeks 2 days ago | He was the best high school player I ever saw in person |
I will question his punting: I did see him hit a punt for -1 yards in a HS playoff game. Had another one for 11 yards. Wasn't his forte. I did see him leap over the line one time without touching anyone and absolutely swallow an extra point, however. Unreal. |
12 weeks 2 days ago | I disagree with John's analysis |
I think Dantonio's issues with his players have been out in the open for some time. I don't think there are a lot of skeletons left to uncover. Dantonio is a hard headed prick, too, who won't give up the ship easily. Izzo has the two issues John mentioned (Walton, Payne/Appling), which really never saw the light of day. I think it is factual that Walton stayed with Izzo for a period of time also, but I would want that confirmed, which is a massive problem. Also, Izzo looks absolutely miserable, I think he knows he's got big problems. |
1 year 4 weeks ago | Walton's made so many big shots over the last several weeks |
that I was surprised the last shot didn't go in. He's been so incredible that I came to expect everything he put up to go in. What a great run. Coach Beilein showed us why he is now the leader in basketball victories at our august institution. He just never gave up on this team, even when things looked bleak. Thanks guys. Loved it all. Sad it is over for now. |
1 year 5 weeks ago | There really is no team |
that we cannot compete with left in the tournament. Even Kansas, Kentucky, UNC and UCLA don't really bother me. Can we beat any of them? We certainly can in a winner take all scenario. Beilein has patiently created a team of scoring threats which no one else really has. Very excited to see what happens Thursday night and beyond. |

enough. |
1 year 15 weeks ago | I think it's going to be very tough |
to count on Filiaga as he's not an early enrollee. As good as he may be, only practicing for a couple of weeks in pads vs. college competition is going to make it difficult to be ready. Hope I'm wrong, but OT is hard enough for veterans, let alone a HS kid with a month of practice under his belt. |
1 year 15 weeks ago | Filiaga is a crucial get. |
Having him in the fold would be great. I still think Najee is going to end up in Tuscaloosa. I will be pleasantly surprised if he books the flight to DTW. Don't want to get my hopes up. Solomon...hmmmm...sounds like Harbaugh & Co. could be doing some work there. We could certainly use him. |
1 year 15 weeks ago | Newsome was in the hospital for |
38 days. To me, that says it's beyond reasonable expectations to think he'll be ready to play this year. I have to believe 2018 is more likely. Whatever his injury, it had to be a hell of a lot more serious that your average ACL tear. That's practically outpatient surgery anymore. |

CB from 11W. |

1 year 18 weeks ago | Sparty's issue |
is that all their talent is very young. Dantonio will need to cut bait with some of the older kids that haven't contributed. Think Harbaugh and how you have to be "invited" to return for that 5th year. Guessing Dantonio needs to do the same. |

100 times. So true. Can't believe I'm hearing that stuff. |
1 year 18 weeks ago | I typically don't comment on recruiting |
as these are only 16-17-18 year old kids, but sweet baby Jesus, I want this young man in Maize and Blue. |

now has that solved.

The wham block is tough to defend, especially if the D line isn't ready for it as noted in the analysis. NFL teams seem to love this same play. If you have a decent H back/TE type who can block, it's a great way to keep the D honest by running up the middle. |
1 year 23 weeks ago | Agreed. |
That and the wildcat with Peppers are now diagnosed by good teams. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | I love the Tree. |
I was at a Rose Bowl tailgate and the Tree was hanging around (no pun intended) while the Stanford pep band was playing. The band began playing Rubberband Man by The Spinners. The Tree went into dancing overdrive, and had everyone staring in amazement as he spun and danced like a crazy person for the whole song. How he stayed upright, I have no clue. Have loved the Tree ever since. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | I am assuming |
that Harbaugh and Drevno are just setting up other plays with Morris and the Wildcat with Peppers. No reason to show it yet, but it is frustrating because currently the opposition knows exactly what's coming. Hopefully OSU will be the recipient of the next up plays from those formations. |

People watching at home are not liking the 4 hour games. It also makes watching in person unbearable. Way too much downtime in the stands, especially if the weather sucks. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | Could not agree more. |
Look at the rest of the results from Saturday. We won a rivalry game on the road against a team that routinely plays their best game of the year against us, and this year had nothing to lose as they were going nowhere. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | I think many of us have that same mix |
of optimism and anxiety. We've all seen Dantonio have his team ready to play over the past decade when it comes to Michigan. No doubt they'll play their best game of the year tomorrow. However, their best still falls far short of Harbaugh & Cos. best. I like the Maize and Blue by at least 3 scores. After Dantonio empties his trick play folder, all hell will break loose in EL and the romp will be on. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | Is the NCAA allowing |
rouge points tomorrow? If not, that score might be a zero instead of a one. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | I said it before, |
Dantonio is going ot have to eventually bust out a couple of gadget and trick plays. He won't do it right away, as he thinks it signals to the other team that he knows he is outmanned. But you know they will be coming and he'll have to make those calls whether he likes it or not...running on 1st and 2nd down and then trying to convert 3rd and 7 ain't gonna work for the Spartans tomorrow. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | Agreed. |
They may be the blind pig that finds the acorn on a deep ball or two. The running game will be non-existent. It won't be pretty for the Spartans. I do expect Dantonio and Co. to dial up a few gadgets that no one has seen yet. After those are gone, it's good night Irene. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | The trouble with MSU starts with the O line. |
The play has been so bad up front. Machado keeps getting yanked, Keiler was moved inside initially because he's so slow, and the younger guys (Higby, Lukusa and Beedle) just aren't ready. Allen is it up front for them. I expect Don Brown to absolutely make their collective lives miserable on Saturday. Hard to see MSU scoring more than 10 points, and that may be generous. |
1 year 25 weeks ago | My family has a large number of Michigan fans. |
I'm the only one with a degree (actually two) from that august institution in Ann Arbor. My family members that are non-alums are in many ways more passionate than I am about the Wolverines, and I'm pretty damn passionate about my team. They all grew up rooting for the Maize and Blue, and due to geography, grades, etc., did not attend school at UM. I still consider them 100% real fans. They love Michigan. |
