I'll concede your stats, but why are *all* of Speight's struggles solely on Pep? What about the young WRs and underachieving Seniors who couldn't get separation? What about the struggles of the oline? I'm not saying Pep is good, but he has had some success with Luck (which could absolutely be 99% on Luck) and there are other offensive coaches on the staff who clearly haven't been pulling their weight. I'm just not sure why you want to pin that all on one guy when almost every part of the offense struggled and underachieved. |
2 weeks 4 days ago | You decision on Luck's best year and Luck's best |
You decision on Luck's best year and Luck's best year with Pep are both very similar and great seasons, so I don't know what your point was with that part of the comment. I'll grant you that his final year with Luck was great. Cleveland is historically where coaches and players go to get paid to ruin their career trajectory, so I'm not going to hold anyone's performance against them during those days. I'll grant you that his Michigan performance hasn't lived up to par so far. I'm not saying you are 100% wrong on Pep, you might be totally right, but I'm personally not convinced yet that he is the center of all of the offense's problems. I was sort of feeling during the season that there might be something off with the QBs and the Amazon series seems to be reinforcing that. The o line sucked at pass pro, Wilton had some early season mental struggles and never got the chance to break out of them cause of the injury, O'Korn's ability couldn't match his mouth, Peters seemed alright, but again, took several hits and got injured, one talented WR got injured real early and the other had typical true freshman mental errors... There were a lot of reasons for the offense to struggle this year. It felt a bit like Murphy's Law and the Amazon series hasn't done anything to dissuade that feeling. |
4 weeks 9 hours ago | Why would I ever want to root |
Why would I ever want to root for OSU, MSU, or Penn State? Two if those programs have created the worst sexual abuse scandals in U.S. history and the other is our biggest rival who doesn't need us giving them bandwagon fans. It's crazy to me to think there are people outside of the MSU/PSU bubbles who would willingly root for either institution... |

15 weeks 2 days ago | "If you believe Michigan can |
"If you believe Michigan can win without stooping to that level" But the question is "Can they?" College athletics is definitely an arms race and to have any kind of sustained success, it's becoming increasingly apparent that you have to keep up with the joneses somehow "Also - wouldn't it suck to win a championship only to have it revoked years later after an investigation for massive cheating?" Not really. I mean, yes, the NCAA won't OFFICIALLY recognize it, but sports fans, sports writers, the internet, the Associated Press, etc. literally everyone else would recognize who played in that game and who won that game. I mean, Reggie Bush still won the Heisman. It's barely a footnote on John Wooden's wikipedia page that he endorsed a booster buying his players cars, plane tickets, stereos, etc... John Calipari still won all those games at UMass and Memphis (and I'm sure eventually Kentucky) "And as a fan it would feel pretty shitty to know the victory was the result of cheating and wasn't 100% clean." I believe that, depending on the allegations, most fans probably would not care. Honestly. With so much scummy shit that has come to light over the last few years (shielding a serial pedophile, covering up mass rapes committed by athletes and trainers/coaches, buying hookers for players), that giving some star players some disposable income on the side does not even register to me anymore, and for now, this is all anyone can reasonably assume Saban and his staff are doing and I am fine with it. I don't care. |

They will always be little bro until they get over their massive fanbase-wide inferiority complex in regards to Michigan. For so god damn many of their fans, the support and success of their own program matters far less than obsessing over whatever the fuck Michigan is currently doing and unless they get over that, they will always be worse off as a program because of that. As far as sustained success, it's gonna depend entirely on if Dantonio and the AD can find a competent replacement, which to me means "will Narduzzi come back?" |

Despite some really good parts, I overall really didn't like it, as a casual star wars fan. My best friend, a much bigger fan thought it was the second worst one, after phantom. My other best friend, a lifelong Star Wars ultra fan, doesn't know how he feels about it yet, other than it wasn't amazing. He's still trying to figure out whether the good outweighs the bad. |
