The "he should've stayed with his hometown team" statements irk me. Cleveland should have surrounded him with better players. Other than that finals year (which Lebron single handedly carried an above average Cave team) their teams were made up of below average talent being bailed out by Lebron every night.
Lebron wanted to win championships. He was never going to get that in Cleveland, as evidence by the state of that franchise ever since the day he left.
Also, I don't know if you've ever been to Ohio, but it is boring as hell. There is literally nothing to do there and nothing interesting about it other than maybe Cedar Point.

bullying at age 10 =/= bullying at age 25
These are grown ass men who are harrassing you. Your boss is joining in. How well do you think running to inform the higher authority would actually go in this situation?
Have you ever been bullied? It's not an easy situation to deal with, especially if you haven't really been in it before.
Let's say Martin fights back. The NFL is his livelihood, his Masters degree, his dream, which means he needs to be healthy to play. Let's say he gets into a fist fight with a (presumably) drunken and now hyper aggressive 300 some odd pound Icognito, who is apparently widely known amogst his teammates by an alter ego "Tornado" when he is plastered drunk (always a good sign of mental health). The odds are skewed heavily that he gets injured and misses practice, or worse, games, or worse, the rest of the season, or worse, gets sent to the hospital with a career ending injury.
But let's say that he doesn't get injured. Now you have pissed off said racist alcoholic by getting into a fist fight. Does the taunting magically stop? Maybe, but I would doubt it, since Icognito isnt a 10 year old fat kid. No, he is a grown ass man. My money is it gets worse and possibly more physical and hostile, since, unlike a 10 year old, he has been doing this for MOST OF HIS LIFE.
Okay, so what if he runs and tells the doplhins leadership. Well, his position coach participated in it and even sent him texts asking him to, essentially, recant his story to protect the bully and the coach. So that rules that out.
What about the Head Coach? A lot of help he was, since he denied all knowledge of anything ever happening in his organization, despite being the HEAD FUCKING COACH. There are no records or indications at all that Philbin noticed or did anything about this. So that rules that out.
Sure, he could try contacting the owner (and maybe he did). have you ever tried to get a hold of a large business owner or a CEO directly? You don't. you talk to a hundred different middle men and women until you get told no because you aren't an investor or a well connected stockholder. So my guess is that the owner would not have been any help.
Point is: Martin should never have had to tell them to shut the fuck up and I don't blame Martin one bit for telling the dolphins to fuck off and walking away.
And, yes, I have been mercilessly bullied by people who I had once called my friends and classmates, to the point where I developed a death wish and needed to see a therapist in order to deal with it. This absolutely skews my opinions on the matter, but I also went out of my way to read the reports and follow the story before posting on this topic, and it seems very clear to me that Incognito and Pouncey are both terrible, irredeemable people who went far beyond "inappropriate joking and harmless ribbing" and into full blown sadism.

|6 weeks 5 days ago||I found this data to be||
I found this data to be surprisingly relevant:
Year l Class Size l AVG STAR l Class Ranking l AVG STAR Rank
2012 25 3.56 7 9
2013 27 3.63 5 7
2014 16 3.44 27 13
If you sort by AVG STARS, then Michigan is #13, right below #31 USC and #4 FSU, yet above #12 Clemson and #10 Miami. If you look at the four teams above us with a similar class size (LSU (#6, 18), Georgia (#11, 17), UCLA (#16, 17), and USC (#31, 15)), you will notice that only USC has less recruits (by a margin of one) and is ranked below us in the overall rankings, despite having a higher AVG STAR rating (3.53 to Michigan's 3.44).
My point here being that Rivals tends to use some crazy hybrid of quality and quantity to determine team rankings and difference in class size tends throw wrenches in whatever method they use, be it a formula or just gut feeling. This would explain why Miami and UCLA's 2012 classes (33 and 26 recruits, respectively) were both top 15 classes to them, despite being the only two with an AVG STAR ranking of < 3.4, wheras most of the others were in the 3.5-3.7 range.
All this data says to me is that Rivals has won the MGoBlog annual "Worst Recruiting Service in the History of Recruiting of the Year" award. (That was a joke, btw)
TL;DR, We are not Alabama. Michigan does not oversign, nor do they engage in creative roster management tactics like phony medical scholarships and JuCo farm systems, nor have they had many Junior players on the roster that were projected to be draft picks. Therefore, Michigan will not recruit ~25 players every class.
Michigan's class, while down this year, is still a pretty good class and the "bad overall ranking" can be easily attributed to bringing in loaded classes the previous two years and whatever method Rivals uses to solve the class size differental problem.

I have it on my PC now, and was told to try playing as a tough melee class and my god, it is so flippin easy. Just make health and stamina potions and mine stuff to create your own armor and weapons and the game is so much of a cake walk that I can't even bring myself to finish it.

Where did he take the program since then? Nowhere, really. They hovered around the top of the middle third of the Big East for a few more years, never finished a season ranked since, and ultimately showed no signs of progression before he lucked into a pro job in Tampa, where he has spent the last two years making a complete ass out of himself to other players and coaches and has brought an attitude that had turned nearly his entire team against him during training camp of this year

I don't think this is a plausible scenario. One or two teams usually do not boost the conference perception as a whole. See: FSU, Clemson, & the ACC and Louisville & the AAC.
From a reccruiting standpoint, MSU winning would not help Michigan or any of the other Big Ten teams at all and I know the OP is well aware of that.
Now, MSU winning can't hurt the public perception of the Big Ten, but what would help everyone out is if more Big Ten teams actually made some bowl games and then won said bowl games. The conference needs more good coaches, plain and simple, and the only way to get them is to actually spend some of that revenue that the Big Ten is dishing out to them, cause Indiana and Iowa are each one good coordinator away from being 9-10 win teams, easy.

Sometimes circumstances dictate that things will not pan out the way we want them to. This is pure speculation here (like insulating that the coaches CHOSE not to take a QB in 2012) but I would most likely say that, given how the staff has said since they were hired that they want one QB in every class, no one wanted to commit to Michigan to be a backup to a five star QB coming in the next class. Devin was a WR, Denard was a senior, and Russ was a lightly recruited QB. Once Shane committed, it was pretty clear *at the time* who the staff was planning to lead the team in 2013.

*grievances* The Negative Nancys who have got themselves worked into such a state of misery over a football game that they start launching personal attacks at other posters and wishing violent acts on coaches and players. I am pretty sure that 97% of them aren't serious and just being overly dramatic for the sake of drama, but even so, wishing murder and/or maiming in someone because you "care too much" is just beyond fucked up.
Also, when many of those same posters launch personal attacks on others who disagree with them and then whine about how "MGoGroupthink is stamping out UNIQUE and ORIGINAL OPINIONS!!1!" when, SURPRISE, they piss off a bunch of people with their shitty attitude. No, dude. You being an asshole and bouncing from thread to thread spewing the same overly negative horseshit and pretending that you are the last crusader of free speech on the internet is why everyone else is going out of their way to shun you.
And lastly, the people who try to use freedom of speech to spew hate and then whine when their hate speech is condemned that they are being censored. You have every right to say what the fuck you want to say, but I don't have to like it any more than you have to like that I don't like it.

All of that being said, Schwartz hasnt been fired yet. I know the regular season has been frustrating to watch, but if the Lions make the playoffs, they still have a shot (however slim) to win some games and save his job, and that is ultimately the one and only expectation I had for him to keep said job.

Their defense- hell, the entire team is full of highly ranked recruits.
I know their recruiting has been down this year (which is to be expected when in state Texas A&M and Baylor have both emerged as upper tier programs, plus OKSU had back to back double digit win seasons for the first time in over 20 years), but they still have plenty of talent from ''10-'12 to compete for a Big 12 championship.

My interpretation of Sparty No is having a a promising moment of hope dashed by a dumbass mistake i.e. 2011 Big Ten game, all of 2012, and that's jus the two previous seasons. And just because they have had three successful years in the last 4 or 5 doesnt completely erase the hundred plus that proceeded it.
MSU will be tough during the next few years, especiallf if Narduzi stays (which I dno't think he will), but you seem to be giving the impression that they have finally become the juggernaut that RCMB has been trying to convince themselves.
Looking at it objectively, MSU has hit their crest from all of the success in recruiting from the Rich Rod years. They have done a good job in building up 2-3-4 star tweeners to all conference players (almost entirely on defense), but I find it hard to believe that Narduzzi, who many believe is a major reason behind this success, will stay at MSU and wait for Dantonio to quit/retire/leave. Everyone knew Will Muschamp was going to take over for Mack Brown at Texas, and look how that turned out. Bottom line: MSU isn't in a much better position than Michigan for the forseeable future, and not much is a better indicator of that more than recruiting

Disagree completely. They won a lot of games and did Michigan fans a solid by ruing Ohio's streak and title hopes, but one year does not erase the entirety of failure that is Sparty No, especially considering they still have a chance for a moment against Stanford.
And MSU will be relatively tough for Michigan as long as Dantonio is there, but to compare him to Meyer is just absurd.

I had to laugh about that. Microsoft says Kinect is technically not required to operate console, then packages one in with every XB1, charges $100 more, and offers no way to turn it off.
I know I am dogging Xbox a bit in this thread, but this was actually my biggest issue with the XB1, more so than DRM, always online, every 24 hour updates. The Kinect wasn't even remotely reliable or useful the first time around and from what I've been reading, it is still buggy and inconsistent and the games that utilize it as a controller are still garbage. So why are they forcing me to pay $100 extra (which is why there is a price difference between the consoles [LINK]) for a device that constantly eats 10% of the GPU, which results in the 1080p/720p resolution difference?

|13 weeks 4 days ago||I had a choice of PS3 or 360||
I had a choice of PS3 or 360 and I chose the 360. I don't regret that choice at all, because the 360 has delivered months worth of entertainment for my friends and I.
That said, Xbox Live is overrated. I can't count the number of times where my firends and I would have issues connecting to small 3-6 man parties and private chats. Between the constant disconnects on wired and wireless connections spanning speeds of 300kb/s to 45 mb/s, it did not matter. I've had issues where, while playing Mass Effect 3 online on a 45 Mb/s wired connection, I would get kicked from Live and booted out to the game lobby. It occasionally would also happen during Call of Duty, when I played with a certain friend.
Controller is entirely a matter of preference. I and a few of my friends prefer the DS4, two of my other friends prefer the XB1 controller, but we all agree that they are both fantastic.

Either should be fine. If you play with your friends online a lot, get the one that they get.
As for exclusives, I'd recommend PS4, but it's really up to you. PS4 tends to have more variety in their exclusives like God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, Uncharted, Killzone... for Xbox, I can really only think of Halo, Gears of War, and Forza; none of which I really care for. I'm sure someone else can give you other Xbox exclusives.
As for the other features, both have live game streaming features (Xbox's will debut in 2014), both require paid subscriptions to access online features (Xbox for everything, PS4 only charges for multiplayer gaming, Netflix and hulu don't require a subscription to use on PS4), both systems have their issues (PS4's HDMI/Blue Light issues, XB1 disc drive of DOOM)...
As for Kinect and voice commands and "snap," I'm not really impressed. Don't get me wrong, it sounds cool, but not "$100 more for weaker ram and slightly less Dev friendly processor." I have heard some less than stellar things about the responsiveness of the new Kinect and I can see voice commands just being a bitch if you have a girlfriend or children who want to fight over the Xbox. I can just see a pissed off girlfriend who's been hooked up to voice command (cause why not?) saying "Xbox Off" while you're playing Battlefield cause she wants to watch Netflix. And snap just seems unnecessary. I can just look at my phone if I want to browse the internet while my game is loading. Want to watch TV? oh, hey, I can just hit HDMI on my remote and switch over and back. Ho hum.
final thought: I'll be getting a PS4 next year after Infamous, Watch Dogs, and The Order come out. This generation looks like it may end up like a bizarro version of last gen, where PS4 is now the 360: the affordable gamer's system; and Xbox1 is now the PS3, the former champ who is drunk off their success and trying to dominate your living room by charging you extra for an unnecessary overpriced add on (XB1: kinect, PS3: blu ray) that gets in the way of the gaming. Only difference is that kinect makes the Xbox a bit weaker by eating up memory, where PS3's processor was a bitch for third parties to develop for.

Three 1st year interior lineman neutralizes 2 senior tackles (cause why attack Lewan when you can just run by the guys in the middle?), Fitz is not a power back and therefore needs a good line to gain any yardage, Gallon is having an amazing year, Funchess is doing very well when Gardner has time to get him the ball, and Gardner has spent 2 1/2 years learning two schemes under Borges (hybrid and Pro), half of which was as a WR and now he is has played the equivalent of just over one season with two playbooks.
As for the OL improvement, while I agree that it is concerning, there are very good reasons why coaches only play underclassmen on the line as a last possible resort. Sometimes it takes a while to learn the feel and sometimes it just never clicks. A nice litmus test for the team will be the bowl game. If the line doesn't improve, then the whole offense will crumble. Even if they do well, I would still probably want Borges gone unless they drop 100.

Fitz is somewhat of an all around finesse runner, (i.e. not slow but not fast, not weak but not strong, mostly relies on open field jukes and cuts) and those guys need a good O line to build momentum and get to the second level for them to be even moderately successful. Power backs can overcome bad blocking a bit because they can usually consistently gain positive yardage by dragging guys and (as brian put it) falling forward for an extra yard.
I like Fitz a lot, but the line sucks railroad spikes this year and he is not powerful enough to drag guys or strong enough to pass block anyone, so Michigan needs to make a switch.
So, go D & D.

Almost makes me wish they would make it into the title game so that we could watch them get slaughtered.
But that would be bad for the B1G and I would rather see Florida State - Baylor.

You must've missed the part where he had on the headset in the first few minutes of the Nebraska game. Or whatever, you're right in your own mind.

Wait, you expect CONSEQUENCES for rash decisions?? But I thought that firing Borges and Funk mid game would magically cause Devin Gardner to poop unicorns and rainbows and golden touchdowns would rain from the sky!! You're telling me that we actually have to THINK about finding a quality replacement that has experience, fits our personnel, and is not just promoting our WR coach??*
*this is not a sarcastic response about keeping Borges. This is a sarcastic response to the Torch and Pitchfork Coalition who do not think further than their nose while screeching for blood.

I know you've had the bloodlust since PSU apparently, but you don't fire a coach mid season unless you have a backup plan. Hindsight is 20/20 but, going into the season, Borges' seat was lukewarm and you don't waste time preparing a backup plan unless your coordinator's seat is on fire.
So, tell me, what was your plan way back then during PSU? You did have a plan, correct?

I doubt he was afraid of Nick Saban. It is more likely that he saw Tebow leaving and the impending implosion from giving his players the special treatment and said "fuck this" and left.
plus there was always that rumor of the affair.

It'll make it all the more Sparty when they keep winning only to get thoroughly embarrassed by Ohio in the B1G championship game and then destroyed by whoever their SEC bowl opponent will be.

The Sugar Bowl season wasn't bad. People just need to manage their expectations and remember that football is a sport and sports can be totally random sometimes.

It's always good to beat Ohio but it won't change the 11 games that proceed it. It will be a very nice moment on a season that I would rather forget.

Yeah, I can't really comprehend this one.
I laughed like Walter White when the studio analyst made a quip about the game being a "tough defensive battle."
