It's fascinating how some constantly cry "cancel culture" as if it's some new and strange device solely used against them. Lest we forget, there was a segment of this country that tried to "cancel" the country at one point (secession) and still are to this day (see earlier in the thread). Many of this same group cancelled anyone who tried to vote, who was a little too "uppity," or was a little too successful for their taste (lynching, domestic terrorism) and made sure to cancel anyone who dared challenge the systems they implemented to ensure their way of life (abolitionists and civil rights activists). Forcing them out of jobs, homes, businesses, churches...

"Cancel Culture" isn't some new thing at all. What's new is that it's now being pointed back, just without all the violence and murdery stuff.

Racism was wrong 87 years…

Racism was wrong 87 years ago and will still be so 87 years from now. And, unless I'm mistaken, the committee recommending Yost's name be removed from a building is a FAR cry from a group of men distorting scripture and trying to stone a woman to death who was caught in adultery (never mind the hypocrisy of not bringing the man she was with to be stoned also).

And, since you brought Him up, that same man you reference also said "if your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him." Not "Meh, it's ok; you were just a man of your time. You're good."

Regarding Gill/Ross, I'm…

Regarding Gill/Ross, I'm wondering if the reason they are playing them this way is due to Bush's NFL aspirations. They know what Bush can do so getting both Gill and Ross the kind of playing time they are now will only make sure that both of them will be ready to go for next year's defense.

Obviously this doesn't preclude the ability of the younger LBs to possibly get a lot of playing time but it seems to really solidify the two inside LB spots.

Actually, in following Sam's posts and his comments on radio regarding this, he never said that Benhart would visit for PSU. He did say that a visit would be telling as to Benhart's feeling as it related to distance, which was a major issue for his mom.

So while this news is disappointing it was always stated by those "in the know," including Sam, that NEB was in the driver's seat in this recruitment.

Normally the URLs are pretty consistent so it's surprising the offensive UFR is available but not defense.

I've rarely come close to my data limit (Comcast as well) and that's with using 2-3 devices at the same time (TV, XBOX, and smartphone). I would think you'd be ok unless you're streaming a lot of Ultra 4K stuff, which requires a ton of data.

I have YouTubeTV as well and, with good internet speed, you have an excellent picture. I don't have any issues with movement on my 4K TV after adjusting the dejudder and deblur settings to accommodate.

I used to have Dish and paying much less even with increasing my internet speed without worrying about picture loss due to strong rain/wind. Plus, I get all the same sports and a lot less channels that I don't watch.

Wait, the article says that…

Wait, the article says that a different man placed the Craigslist ad and, apparently, ratted Hattey out.

As they say, snitches get stitches but I hope this guy got a good deal from the DA and doesn't get any time. I'd hate to imagine what could happen to a snitch who also loves playing with restless dogs or horses (male preferably).

If he wins @ MSU and OSU...

he'll get the keys of Orthanc, or perhaps the key of Barad-Dur itself, along with the crowns of the seven kings, and the rods of the five wizards!

Unfortunately, there is a history of athelets putting playing the game ahead of their health.

I don't know, man; while this may be true for some we're talking about Mo Hurst here. The kid has done nothing in 5 years at Michigan to demonstrate a "win at all costs" mentality and was coached by Greg Mattison for his entire career, a coach who makes sure his guys do things "the right way."

Add to that the high likelihood that he will not only have his team doctors on him but Mattison, Brown, and Harbaugh as well as guys like Wormley and Taco. And while this may sound like a biased view (of which I'll stipulate) any team that does adequate enough homework on a kid and the school he comes from will understand the kid, the culture he was surrounded by, and the support system he has around him.

Yes, it's still on Mo to do what he has to do to make sure he takes care of his health but he has demonstrated his willingness to do whatever he needs to do to take care of his body, is conscientious and doesn't take shorcuts, and does everything that's expected of him.

Sports

That .gif perfectly encapsulates ABC's Wild World of Sports catchprase all in one shot:

The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat.

Thank for these, Ace! I hated how things ended but enjoyed the whole ride with this team.

Just a thought

Alex Smith and Colin Kapernick say hi so I'm pretty sure their former Coach remembers how to handle QBs like Shea...

I understand that people are disappointed about last season but why argue hypotheticals that don't fit facts?

Aaaand

That someone has a serious love affair with Brett Favre. To the point of creepiness...

True but...

The basic result of major transgressions is the loss of post-season play. So, while I understand your point, whether a school bans itself or the NCAA does is immaterial. The fact that a school committed the kind of infractions that would lead to a post-season ban in a subsequent year should allow kids who choose to transfer the right to play immediately.

I'd like to add the caveat that kids who were involved in those infractions should be excluded from that transfer provision if they maintain their eligibility, though. Anyway, I know some have said that this (immedite elligibility) could cause a mass exodus and crater a program but I think that might discourage some of the mess that happens.

I'm not that crazy to think it will do much but still...

Wow

You don't need much runway to jump off the highest cliff, eh? lol

This isn't the first time Zordich called his guys out so Lavert knows exactly what he meant and is still able to do what he feels is best for him. I mean, he's not practicing so...

You are entitled to take whatever you will from what Zordich said but that has nothing to do with this situation. If Lavert misses out on reps and can't perform up to the level of the guys who are practicing then guys will take his spot. But all that will be decided in the fall.

True

Not many are able to, though. It takes someone who truly understands and is really committed to walking that path with someone who is struggling with depression. Makes me very grateful for the few who do because I know how difficult it can be.

Perhaps

he's referencing B1G Tourney Championships? I personally have a hard time believing Coach B. won't have a National Championship before he steps away from the bench.

And he'll also have a court named after him as well...

I love a kid

with a mean-streak so big that he'll pancake one of his own receivers if they get in the way of a block (@ 2:14).

You can't teach that...

Ugh

Can't make it tonight but I'll hopefully run into some of you folks tomorrow if there will be any gatherings.

You're right

Just looking to see where the best place to buy now...

Best place to get tix?

In Houston so I'd love to go if I can get a good price for a ticket.

He's the UM Basketball version

of a mullet: Stone-cold assassin who rarely smiles on the court but huge cheerleader and coach on the bench. Or maybe Chris Paul on and Cliff Paul off?

Think I'll quit while I'm ahead(?) and just say I'm gonna miss that guy next season...

Yup!

Would have been even more perfect if he said 4 instead of 5 seconds. Still, great song for that shot.

Having stared at this gif for a little too long, I think I'm going to be sick.

Understood

Like I said, though, the exposure isn't her fault. To my knowledge she never sought it so I can't be mad at her. And she's the team chaplain so she is focused on helping people: the team and other members of the program. I get what you meant but she's not there just as a fan.

Anyway, I appreciate your perspective.

(No subject)

Good for her

We'll see what happens in San Antonio and I'm expecting a great game.

Outside of that, I don't get the vitriol being directed at a 90+ year old woman who loves her team. All she's been is class and, whether one agrees with her religious beliefs or not, she never asked for the spotlight that seems to have made her such a target for blatant and unecessary disrespect.

Seriously elated for Michigan heading to the Final Four but this ugliness towards her from some Michigan fans... It's beneath the dignity of the Coach and Team.

FINAL FOUR

BANG ME!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

He improved upon his performance

on the one he drew on CM. At least he improved somewhere as his game was suffering...

His swag is so bright...

all you see are his pearly-whites.

The actual quote

“Honestly, I think I’m the most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft just as far as terminology, and knowing what to do on a day-to-day basis, game-planning,” O’Korn said Friday. “I was part of the game-plan meetings with coach Harbaugh, coach (Pep) Hamilton, the whole staff, coach (Tim) Drevno, all last fall, so just on a day-to-day basis what it takes to be an NFL quarterback, I think I would choose myself over any other guy in this draft in that regard.” [italics added]

It's on the right navigation panel just under the "Beveled Guilt" button. Easy peasy...

Agree

I don't get the obsession with needing to compare things like this. They both were AMAZING shots that were crucial in their unique moment which allowed the team to keep playing! Why can't that be enough?

Gfycat

It's an autogenerated string when you create .GIFs on Gfycat and everytime Ace does his One Frame at a Time recaps I am dying laughing at the URLs as much as I am loving the actual .GIFs themselves.

WOOO!!!

I was screaming and running around my house so hard that I had to sit down before I passed out. haha

GO BLUE! GREAT WIN!!!

Yup

Let them have the covers while UM hangs banners.

Nnnope

This team exceeded all expectations coming into the season while playing a tight schedule. I'm sure their bodies needed the break and Coach Beilein will keep them sharp.

Besides, these guys don't look like the types who need things to be perfect to play their best basketball and different kids are stepping up when needed. Personally, I'm just enjoying the ride...

Edit: (Forgot to add) Nice job Ace! Thanks for the great analysis.

Interesting

So hotlinking images is a that much of an offense for you? I didn't even know that was a thing but to each...

Nice

Although a subscription is needed to read the article, I'm glad Z's story is being told. He seems like a great kid...

Great stuff!

And the auto-generated URL titles for each .gif are hilarious as well. I think I enjoyed those as much as the .gifs themselves. *Nerd alert*
