You called...

Yes, Bellomy is a member of the team.  You're welcome.

Cuchk Noll had carachter... Chuck had character

Just saying...

RIP Chuck.

Hmm...I'm not the OP...but since you asked I think he is asking what logical argument Hoke can use on Funk to convince him to stay another season.

He also does't want to get any moderators fired for sleeping on the job.

Thanks for asking Don. Always a pleasure.
42-17 FSU

Not much different than most.

He was ahead of Green and Smith - first guy in behind Fitz

Had good coverage on special teams and chased down a defender cross field vs. CMU.  He looked good in practice (ie was talked up by Hoke himself)

Drake is going to be a star if he comes back 100%.

Agree on the defense but Stanford lost this on Offense...

ND won that game by passing.  PI tacked on gave them over 200 yards in the air.

You need to pass to get MSU to stop it with the downhill.  Not always deep either.

Stanford's defense was good enough to win that game.

So you are not optimistic Hoke will optomize

got it.

No you are not right.

It is how others see things as well what is right in and of itself.

Spelling matters and I doubt your fifth grade teacher let you get away with this... or will this fall.

Sort of kidding here but I honestly don't consider content as much when spelling is off.

Agree - It's like nobody watched the ND game...

MSU is beatable over the top.  You have to come with the plays you practice though.  Hindsight is 20/20.

Yes

Would anyone read it if it were?

No

It's the way the board works.

Agree - both Drakes are promising

Drake Johnson looked very good early on.

uh... two years prior to this one didn't exactly improve DRs #s

You can make an argument for 3 years of head beating at Mich.

All that is needed here are the details ...

and that is where the devil lives.  Coaches gonna coach.  Best leave this to the professionals.  Dantonio is not the gold standard here.  Players and teams respond differently but no matter  - fans and rival fans will always second guess.

E. Gordon Gee

I don't know - but thanks for asking me.

It's not like Max is vital for that defense to work.  /s

If you're out there, SC, remember that people addressing contrary opinions while behind the internet's shroud of anonymity are seldom at their most eloquent.

Nit a problem

I should chill with those kind of posts.  In the end it's about football and I'm being a knitwit and distraction.  It bothered me in the moment and I let it get to the mouse before filtering out in my head.

WTF... this blog sucks tonight... privilege...

privledges are toilets on a cliff?   Please fix and make my comments look dumber than they are annoying.  Not easy I know.

I give up blogging for 24 hrs. Time to read books.
WTF... not you too... systematic not systemic...

look it up.  That's it not going to read the rest of these comments.  Defense was not good.  Bye week.  We will never see this tempo again unless we win out and Baylor loses one.

Bring on the Spartans. Go Illini! I seriously think Sparty is going to eat a look ahead loss trying to figure out who Michigan is. Maybe that is a good thing.

systemic vs. systematic

I think you got the wrong one here.  Knits must be picked.

Baylor says defense can be played by up tempo teams. So does Oregon.
At this point that return is equally on the coaches...

If Dileo weren't dinged they probably would have pulled him after that.  They know what they have in Norfleet.  Coach him up or don't play him.  Street ball works in HS not in CFB and especially not in the NFL.  We've seen this before.  The coaches need to take action.  Chaos sometimes works but that is what that was.

Not to be too harsh.  Norflleet has skills.  On a HS level those allowed him to succeed with that type of return.  He's not in that world now.  The coaches need to tell him that by pulling him aside.  I'm sure they are doing that... but this is not a new thing with Norfleet.

Are you sure...? I think that is liable to bring up more questions.
Enough of the meta There is no civility to appeal to here. The base is at heart base, and rightfully passionate. Football is a game of emotion as much or more so than X's and O's. You lose - it hurts. You move on. I read over the crass and take it as it comes. Every ounce of goodness is 10 times more read that commented on. Every civil comment is appreciated in it's due. The meta gives play to the Michigan mystique which has always been misguided. Borges apologist!
I asked if you watched this press conference? You said, and I block quoted your words, that we don't need to bench half our starters. If you believe that then you disagree in principle with what Borges said. He led off the presser with his pledge to re-open competition. He is open to benching the starters. I ask you now - do you understand that point? Do you understand that your statements aren't reacting to what Borges said? In fact your statements aren't reacting to the football that Michigan has played of late. You are reacting to the reaction of the board- which doesn't push the envelope one bit. I am a fan. I'm passionate about it. I don't like losing. I hate losing when we play poorly. This most recent game goes beyond that. We played not to lose. Coaching is an issue here. If you would watch these pressers and offer an argument to the contrary derived from them then I would be grateful. Instead you sir are trifling with a fan's passion - which is rightfully disheartened with the play in three of the last four games. I'm not for firing coaches mid season, but I am for coaches who take responsibility for the way their team plays. Leaders take blame in defeat and give credit in victory.
Did you watch this "conference"
We don't need to bench half of our starters,
Borges starts it off saying he is going to open up the competition. What are you saying / watching. Winning isn't everything...but in this case - we didn't win. The tone is about right here - PSU is depleted and we are not. Borges takes no responsibility and you are asking critics to calm down. Apologize much?
Touche R71 - I will check my spell in the Neo Age....

The olde pot was obviously too goode.

EGD - one more time - I'm not

EGD - one more time - I'm not calling out the players or the true freshmen for that matter.  I'm calling out the coaches.  When will Hoke consider making changes in his staff?  Neopotism has been a constant theme at Michigan and in CFB in general.  Devin carrying the ball one handed - repeatedly back spinning - the special team misques - the OL passing guys off - it all ulitmately comes from the coaching staff.

There was no on field call to abandon the punt - Jones was on an island.  The block in the back was a coaching point.  Gedeon took the wrong angle - coaching point.  Wile kicked it OOB - coaching point/strategy. Kerridge burned down field to cover a punt spectacularly that if held for a second  more prior to punting would have been fair caught.  You can't rely on superior talent to over come a failure in fundamental football or a strategy that is flawed.

Coaching is big time sport.  Is it time to coach the coaches?  To change the strategy and the coaching points.  Hoke leads his staff not the AD.  Is he going to make some changes over this Bye week?  It's a legitimate question.

But honestly - yes I am frustrated.  It is a young team.  They will make mistakes.  I will try to lighten up.  I just don't want to lose to make a change that could be done now without going through that lesson.

True Idiocy. You do realize this is Michigan.

True idiocy.

You do realize this is Michigan.  Expectations don't come from experience they come from the position.

The Special Teams coach is not a true freshman, neither are the plurality of players who did not live up to the expectations of the positions they played.  I'm not faulting the players here though.  We put our players in a position to fail on special teams and elsewhere 2 weeks in a row.

Egad EGD I'd expect more from someone who has so many MGoPoints but expectations don't come from experience at this institution.

What is the expectation for

What is the expectation for the position of Special Teams coach?

We seem to be coaching our players for failure on special teams.

Jones did not evacuate when a punt was abandoned near the goal line. There appeared to be no on field signal to inform Jones that the punt was abandoned.  The block in the back on Dileo's punt return.  Gedeon ran into the punter.  We kicked off out of bounds.  We don't use the spread punt.

Mack Brown fired his DC for not living up to expectations.  When might you consider adjusting your staff?  Do we have to lose before you would consider making an adjustment?
