Considering that Michigan…

Considering that Michigan has a stadium, locker room, and additional facilities built specifically for the lacrosse program, I would say they'll keep the program alive for a long, long time.

As a parent of a teen who plays lacrosse and has attended the Michigan Lacrosse camps a couple of times, I made an interesting observation this past summer.  While waiting to pick up during a lunch break, I spoke to a woman who was there from New York who was completely blown away by the facilities here.

She said that they had attended the lacrosse camp at Syracuse (where lacrosse is a much bigger deal) and several other camps out east and very few (if any) had dedicated lacrosse facilites.

I think, given time, that Michigan will get there.  It's a new program and lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing sports.

Over the past two years, our HS lacrosse team has had its largest participation numbers ever, while our football program is near historic lows.

I miss the way he used to…

I miss the way he used to call the band onto the field.  It used to be:

'Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the 225 member Michigan Marching Band....'

Now it's  'Ladies and Gentleman, the Michigan Marching Band...'

Not sure when it changed.  Still gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.

I agree with 90% of the…

I agree with 90% of the sentiments.  I still think you need to give Gattis his opportunity.  Yes we looked bad yesterday, but If we change it up now, I'm not sure it's going to get better.  We made the decision and we should ride it out at this point.

If you really want to go…

If you really want to go down that road, then just admit that you're fine with recruiting violations, paying players, and all the other shady activities that go with it.

Never OSU

Maybe I'm old and petty.  Maybe it's because I've lived in this cesspool for too long.  But I will never, ever, root for OSU to win.  In anything.

I seem to remember a quote along the lines of 'the burning rage of a thousand suns'.  This sums up my feelings about that place.

Unlikely

I say highly unlikely,

When thinking about these conference realignments, people tend to forget about the BTAA (the academic consortium of Big Ten member schools).  Membership to this consortium has granted Big Ten member schools access to grants and endowments that range in the hundreds of millions of dollars.  The biggest benefit to joining the B1G is not access to the Big Ten Network and its revenues, but membership in the BTAA.

It's possible there may be grumbling by some in the AD at Nebraska about 'expanding their brand', but I doubt anyone on the academic side has any regrets about joining the B1G.

Testing Code
I DON'T OFTEN TEST MY CODE, BUT WHEN I DO, I TEST IT IN PRODUCTION.
Wrong, Wrong, wrong.....

My brother in law played on that '08 state title team.  They NEVER practiced in pads in June.  The seniors do organize off season weight training and workouts, but coaches are not involved.

Also, I was at the state title game in '08.  Southview came back to win at the end of the 4th quarter, but there was no 'lucky' single play at the end of the game.  At the end of the first half, there was a 'Hail Mary' pass that Gant caught at the back of the end zone.

Edited for clarity.

I haven't heard this, but I did hear that

the new Northview head coach ( who was the OC at Southview last year ) recieved a list of 8th grade football players in the district, and proceeded to make phone calls to all of them.  The athlectic director at Southview called the OHSAA, which prompted a larger investigation of the whole district.

31st year

This will be the 31st 9th week for me.  Some great memories from there.  I'll never forget coming back from one of the many 'secret' campfire locations one night and wondering why it seemed so light out, when I looked up to see the entire sky lit up by the northern lights.  A bunch of my friends and I stayed up all night watching them.

I saw him last week..

having breakfast with the head coach of Sylvania (OH) Southview's football team.  I only noticed him cause he was all decked out in Michigan addidas wear.  I'm usually the only one in that place wearing Michigan garb.    FYI, Southview is where top 2012 Saftey prospect Allen Gant plays.
