but it looks like there's actually a big stylistic difference so I don't think its accurate to say it's "lower" per se.
UCA = old school 'classic' style cheerleading with a "Gameday" component
NCA = more 'allstar' dance style cheereading w/ more acrobatics for both guys and gals
Here's a good example
It does seem correct that average competition level is higher for UCA though.

|1 year 39 weeks ago||I think the answer differs based on what you want...||
Do you want go into entrepreneurship immediately? PE/VC? Join a startup...or go into a large company in an exec role?
A ranking of possible roles you want would help in giving advice.
|1 year 39 weeks ago||The distinction is more from a company hire standpoint||
I can totally believe that there are certain EMBA programs that offer more extensive career services but 80-90% of companies that are looking to make MBA hires have a very specific hiring cycle that only students from the fulltime programs can take advantage of.
These can be in company sponsored happy hours, specfic recruiting events and pitches organized by various Fortune 500 companies, etc. Many of these will be either off limits to EMBA students or sheduled in such a way EMBA students will have a hard time attending.
What you WILL get is career counseling and the opportunity to network with other EMBA students who may soon be in a situation to make hiring reccomendations. Those will be the primary levers you will be using if you are thinking about a potential career change afterwards.
A complete functional change is highly unlikely though (e.g. if you are in Supply Chain right now, don't expect to be able to switch to a Marketing role post EMBA).
Ultimately, I think the EMBA is the right answer if you are
A) Generally happy with your current company but think a MBA will get you a leg up on promotions
B)Interested in networking with a broader set of professionals
C)Learning more about business related topics
|1 year 39 weeks ago||As long as you understand that the different MBA programs...||
offer different things to the students it's fine.
The EMBA is more designed for companies who want to grow their internal talent (and keep employee retention) by offering a program where they would be put on an promotion track sooner or later.
It's not really meant for career switching if that is your end goal and those resources will not be made readily available to you like it is for the full time students.
|1 year 39 weeks ago||EMBA programs are designed to be company sponsored...||
I wouldn't pay out of pocket for them to tell you the truth. If you're looking to spend your own money I would go for a regular full time program instead.
|1 year 41 weeks ago||You're obviously not familar with what the "Bay Area" means...||
unless you're also arguing that Silicon Valley is not in the bay area.
|1 year 41 weeks ago||I think you need more time to prep...||
No offense, but you're applying way too late in the cycle to have a realistic shot at any program worth the money.
I think you should spend the spring/summer researching schools, thinking about what you want to do after you gradaute, and focus on getting your GMATs to the 700 mark and applying round 1 for next year's cycle.

|2 years 4 weeks ago||The strong vs average differenciation ....||
is pretty touchy feely. For example, Charlie Strong was at Louisville before Texas. That sounds pretty average to me. I would prefer to see the data broken out by salary or some other metric that's more quantifable.
Also, since generally blue chip programs are the ones making big name hires, the increased performance might be attributable to the programs themselves, not the hires.
|2 years 7 weeks ago||That's not correct||
the SUNY system doesn't have a designated flagship - there's 4 "university centers" with technically equal footing but with various states of funding.
If you look at the enrollment stats you see that Buffalo doesn't get the strongest in-state kids and that depending on what part of NY you're from you'll gravitate to different schools within the 4.

|2 years 12 weeks ago||I think the only choice we have is to soldier on...||
until the first bye week after Penn State.
A horrible game but it's still too early in a new O and D scheme to completely panic and change things up.The only thing I would change is to get Shane more snaps - I think getting at least a quarter's worth of playing time over the next 4 games would be ideal.
During the bye, if it's clear that we won't have a shot at winning the division I would want to start prepping for 2015 and start Shane over Devin vs. trying to eek out a few wins over the rest of this year.

|2 years 25 weeks ago||It's not all or nothing ...||
But it really seems like most of the Brandon haters have no problem with all the new construction that is happening around south campus, the increased spending on coaches, and all the modern flair that the increased revenue is allowing Michigan to partake in but have issues with EVERY SINGLE way that revenue is being generated.
That is beyond hypocritical.
Did they make missteps with the way they dealt with student tickets last year? Yes. Does that invalidate every other thing the new AD has brought in? No.
Let's get real here and try to have some reasoned discussion instead of bashing every single single f'ing thing that the AD implements
|2 years 25 weeks ago||Did all the Brandon bashers hate UTL I and II?||

|2 years 28 weeks ago||OMG WE CAN STILL HAVE GOOD THINGS||
I'm not ready for this.
|2 years 30 weeks ago||I'm talking about students||
I'm talking about students and athletes in aggregate, not just Basketball players.
A good chunk of the student base of Big Ten universities are based on OOS students, Michigan included. This number balloons up even higher if you include graduate students. There's also alums who moved out of the midwest who would love to attend games closer to them.
Thinking that everyone would prefer Indianapolis to DC is nonsense.
|2 years 30 weeks ago||thats why this will be on rotation with||
thats why this will be on rotation with Indianapolis. Many athletes and students come from the east coast and they will welcome a tourney closer to their home as well
|2 years 30 weeks ago||I like it||
some of you guys forget how many of us no longer live in the Midwest.
DC has one of the largest concentrations around of Big Ten Alums - attendance will be fine.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Pretty much.||
This is less of a factor now that media deals drive much of the revenue for FB but it still comes out to a $2-4M gain for a school like Purdue and Indiana - that number would balloon up if PSDs were removed entirely.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Main benefit||
Is that PSDs are not subject to Big Ten gate sharing policies where up to 40% of the gate is shared with the visiting Big Ten team.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||So I looked into Michigan's future schedules for even years||
...and it looks like 2014 is the oddity vs it beginning a trend of crap home schedules in even years.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Michigan really needs to schedule a||
home & home with a big name team for the alternating years - I guess the closest we have is Arkansas in 2018.
I see that we got Wisconsin in 2016 as well though with the 9-game schedule...so maybe 2014 is the oddity vs the new standard of crappy home schedules.
|2 years 33 weeks ago||On a more positive note...||
next year's home schedule looks pretty darn good - best in quite a few years easy.
|2 years 33 weeks ago||I think we'll be a bubble team -||
probably about 6th or 7th in the Big Ten.
Of course, this is the thought I had this year once McGary got injured so if this means that we'll be staring down another Elite 8 appearance I won't be complaining either!
|2 years 34 weeks ago||There's actually a Michigan connection here...||
Advance Digital, the parent company of this paper, also owns MLive.com.
At least one child of the family that owns the company is a Michigan alum - I met him last year. Nice guy.
|2 years 36 weeks ago||Ever since the business minor was announced at Ross...||
I always wondered how much of that was motivated by athletic concerns - certainly doesn't seem to hurt!
|2 years 38 weeks ago||Generally speaking there's the T14 and the rest.||
Tiers matter for certain graduate discplines - Law and Business the two main ones that come to mind.
|2 years 40 weeks ago||So no divisions!||
I remember that was thrown about as a possibility - there were some surveys last year from the AD on if fans thought that was a good idea or not.
|2 years 40 weeks ago||We should add scoring judges||
A panel of 5 judges to grade each score and give them the ability to award additional points based on on each component like proper vertical take off and rotations prior to dunking.
|2 years 41 weeks ago||So what's the actual switch?||
The announcement by itself doesn't mention how the specific responsibilities are different from last year...
|2 years 41 weeks ago||Depending on how old/well behaved your kids are..||
you might be better off staying local and going to Winaries in the South Bay. There are quite a few in the Santa Clara mountains and some of them have great views down the mountain into the bay.

that what we'll find out is that his base salary is in the $800K range, but if he hits all the incentives (e.g. win the Big Ten + make the Playoffs) that figure will balloon to the point where he will be in the Top 5.

|2 years 49 weeks ago||Do we really need 10-8 in conference?||
I was thinking that the Big Ten was looking like a 8-bid conference this year, which may mean that even a 8-10 might be enough to get a bid.
|2 years 50 weeks ago||The problem with the Big Heart Race was ...||
that it was marketed as if it was affiliated with the school even though it wasn't.
That means that anything potentially shady that happens over there could have negative impact on the school itself, which is a risk that that the school shouldn't have to take on.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||This statement is really just a way to say||
that the staff at Michigan will always look at the holistic performance of a given player to decide if they will be on the 2-deep or not instead of looking at seniority, etc.
We hear it often in the context of some highly touted recruits so I think it's more of a way to assure them that they will get a chance to start...if they live up the expectations that the coaches have.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||Just wait a year...||
and your wishes will be granted :)
|3 years 1 day ago||This is just a rumor - I||
This is just a rumor - I would hold off on speculation until collarborated.
|3 years 4 days ago||It ranks up there only if...||
we put in the context of the dissaapointing 2013 season and how much heart the team showed in playing better than ever have been this season (at least on Offense).
Taken by the game as a stand-alone event I think it loses its luster a bit, although it probably will rank as one of the better games in the rivalry.
|3 years 5 days ago||Wouldn't Nebraska be a shoe-in for this game?||
At least, that's what I was assuming given their Big 12 ties.
|3 years 5 days ago||When do we find out for certain?||
I have made New Years plans but depending on the location I'll consider a flight out.
|3 years 5 days ago||I think it's reasonable to expect...||
that our defense to be better next year compared to this year since we don't lose much in the way of senior talent and we get Peppers(hopefully).
Offense is an interesting question since we lose Gallon and Lewan. I think our running game will be much improved but our passing game may take a step back. It'll all depend on how much Drake Harris and Amara Darboh live up to their billing. Hoping a more experienced & healthy Gardner will be the difference maker.
|3 years 3 weeks ago||I would love to be proven wrong...||
but a Gator bowl trip is almost guaranteed at this point.
|3 years 4 weeks ago||How does the data look like...||
if we remove the tackles and just look at the interior line? I think that's the real crux of the issue.
Once you add the tackles in Michigan looks a lot better because we have a lot of experience there.
|3 years 5 weeks ago||Isn't there a cap on early enrollees?||
I thought the cap was 6 but I guess I'm wrong here.
|3 years 6 weeks ago||Wasn't this the main reason||
that Miller started out as center?
Gotta take the good with the bad, I suppose.
|3 years 7 weeks ago||Looks like we're still ranked in Coaches..||
|3 years 8 weeks ago||From a pragmatic perspective||
I like the idea in theory but in practice this can really screw up teams that lose a lot of players from coaching turmoil/injuries. The inability to use true-freshman to pick up slack for those type of teams will mean potentially playing with less than 60 scholarship players at any given time.
If this is coupled with higher scholarship limits (maybe 100 instead of 85) then I think this is a reasonable move.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||This means that it'll be on ESPN3?||
If so then I guess it's fine...
|3 years 11 weeks ago||After re-watching the game...||
It looked like the D-line actually got decent push - the problem was that they all seemed to push into the same point and basically all cluster around the center of the line, making it easy for the QB to step out of the pocket and make a play or, even worse, tripping over each other and taking themselves out of the play.
It looked like they're so focused on beating their man sometimes that they don't have enough awareness of what's going on around them :|
|3 years 11 weeks ago||Wow - jumping tackle Woodson did||
1) Super impressive
2) Is it legal?
|3 years 11 weeks ago||This image disagrees|
|3 years 11 weeks ago||Eh, disagree.||
Michigan's performance aside Wisconsin got robbed of a possible win and some of the losses were much more competitive than I thought it would be - especially Illinois.
The ones that really hurt were ours and Nebraska :|
|3 years 12 weeks ago||Is it just me...||

|3 years 19 weeks ago||Why would||
Why would he take a step down in power to take a NCAA head role?
|3 years 20 weeks ago||I believe the match up is against ACC...||
I wonder if that's the only tie in or if it'll also be part of a 3/3 rotation with some other conference.
|3 years 21 weeks ago||I think I see how parity schedule will work based on this..||
Seeing as how the crossovers will be 1 home&home + 2 rotating, it looks like the top schools from each division will be guaranteed home & home games with each other whenever they are available.
Notice how Michigan skips Nebraska on the 2017 schedule, suggesting that they will be part of the h&h in 2018.
I'm 90% sure that the 2019-20 schedule crossover for Michigan will be
2019: Neb, @NW, Illinois
2020:@Neb, Iowa(next h&h), @Minn

|3 years 24 weeks ago||Just wait another few years -||
once ND rolls off the schedule and everyone gets used to not playing them anymore it'll go away naturally.
|3 years 24 weeks ago||I'm guessing the format will be a bit different||
so it's more of a hybrid system than a pure on-line course system. Otherwise I don't see the value of going through the trouble of internal development when U-M's already part of Coursera.
|3 years 24 weeks ago||As I understand it...||
Transfers to another school is counted against the school (-2 points?) but leaving early to the NFL do not if they would've have been eligible to play.
|3 years 24 weeks ago||I'm always surprised...||
when the Kentucky connection comes up before the Giants.
|3 years 24 weeks ago||I think the move to mark more of the endowment funds||
...is a good one. If you look at the admit rate / yields you see that the main reason why Michigan has to admit so many students is due to the low yields for OOS students. The numbers I saw was something like 70% for in-state and 25% for OOS.
While there is are number of OOS students who probably wouldn't go to Michigan either - there is still a large number of students who simply cannot afford Michigan's tuition rates. If Michigan can fix that the yield can probably get closer to 50% pretty quickly and will help push the overall admit numbers even lower.
|3 years 24 weeks ago||I forget...||
is this the year that ESPN is the most accurate recruiting service or the worst one?
|3 years 25 weeks ago||The only situation I can say Michigan > Harvard||
is if she really wants to stay in the Midwest after she graduation and a big-time sports atmosphere is very important for her.
Otherwise, Harvard all the way. As someone else mentioned it probably won't even be that much more expensive than Michigan (aside from living expenses)
Of course, you have to get into both schools first to really have this discussion ;)
|3 years 25 weeks ago||Brandon's already on record||

3:30 should be the default expectation going forward.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||I never understood the appeal of college baseball||
the MLB season is more than long enough to last me a life time.
...of course, I'm the type of viewer who doesn't pay much attention to Baseball until the July or so I'm probably not the target audience.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||I personally think that...||
the "you guys vs y'all" map is the cleanest break of Southern vs non-Southern states. It even correctly identifies Southern Florida as non-South ;)
|3 years 26 weeks ago||I don't know that much about lacrosse...||
but I remember reading somewhere that the bulk of the talent comes from the NE. Is that true?
I wonder how this impacts the decision making process for players a few years from now - I think Michigan's supposed to finish their new lacrosse facilities in 2016 so that timing works out pretty well for us too.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||It's valid from a % perspective...||
that said, if you go by absolute numbers, population in the Midwest + MD/NJ is on par with most Southern states.
However, VA, NC,GA, and FL (+TX) are growing at a ridiculous pace with no signs of slowing down for the next decade or two.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||I think it'll be #6||
after Holiday and Gator/Music City. Holiday is supposedly going to up their payouts so I think it'll go after Capital One and Outback.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||I think this is a great add -||
hopefully Michigan will start fielding decent teams in the near future - we lose quite a few close games last year so hopefully going .500 isn't too far off.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||Damn it!||
I can't believe we're losing recruits to high schools now!
|3 years 26 weeks ago||Even if Gee loved Cincinnati||
Why would the other 13 schools agree to it?
It will never happen
|3 years 27 weeks ago||That's why they need the 9th conference game.||
Playing 8 conference games in a 14 team league + crap OOC schedules can lead to some pretty crappy match ups for ticket holders
|3 years 27 weeks ago||On the academics side...||
I think this is less true than it was a decade or two ago.
My family's from the NYC metro area and my younger sister is just graduating high school now (she's 13 years my junior) so I have some perspective on how the different schools around here are perceived and the general sense is that Rutgers (and some other state flag ships around the tri-state area) are on their way up at the expense of the mid-tier private universities around the NE area.
|3 years 27 weeks ago||Its relevant, but it's not grounds for firing her.||
That's why I don't think it's a scandal.
They definitely should've done their HW in hiring her but starting a new search for another AD over this would be making a bad situation even worse.
|3 years 27 weeks ago||I read the story...||
I don't think it's the type of something to get someone fired over and it's already been resolved legally in 1997.
It's embarassing to be sure, but I wouldn't expect a new AD search to begin over this.
|3 years 27 weeks ago||I'm all for Rutgers bashing...||
but where's the scandal? It's just some old embassing skeletons in the closet that was resolved over a decade ago.
|3 years 27 weeks ago||Does this mean Malik Zaire gets a shot now?||
Or back to Rees? I remember Zaire looking good in the QB camps...but yeah, True Freshman and all that.
|3 years 27 weeks ago||Ouch...this is getting a bit ugly||
Surprised to see our team struggle so much on offense though.
|3 years 28 weeks ago||I don't think we'll ever see a long-term series again||
Doesn't give enough scheduling flexibility to lock in an opponent now that we're at 9 conference games a season.
I personally would like to see a rotating home-home series across the 4 Pac-12 California teams though - this would mean that I can actually attend a few games now that I'm living out here.
|3 years 28 weeks ago||Is the conference break down||
based on the new conference makeups or historical?
I think the most interesting dynamic that's going to play out now is what's going to happen to North East talent going forward. 4 of the top 5 conferences have a base in this area and I'm really curious how this is going to play out in the recruiting trail...

none of the bowl match ups will be outside of the "Power 5" (or whatever they call it nowadays) conferences unless the opposing side runs out of eligible teams?
I like it.
|3 years 29 weeks ago||I'm a bit surprised that all the analysts||
had him going to Michigan.
I remember reading a few articles about him the past few weeks and they noted that his family has strong ties to ND and he's the only(?) of the brothers to get an ND offer...didn't realize all the predictions were him to Michigan, to be honest.
|3 years 29 weeks ago||Whats your budget?||
There's been a slew of new development downtown and around South U recently but they cater to people willing to pay top $$$ for modern design and amenities.
The general market for housing in Ann Arbor sucks though due to high demand from students - a lot of old houses and apartments still charging you over $1000+ for a 1 bedroom and this gets higher for places near downtown.
I personally like the area around Kerrytown - but if your fiance's masters program is in North Campus the graduate housing units (Northwood) might work well. They're a bit dated but the fact that all utilities are included really saves you money in the long run...especially in the winter where heating alone might run you $150+ month.
|3 years 29 weeks ago||There's some development going on there||
but you're right in that it's not a main dev center.
You should check out Menlo Innovations. They're a pretty interesting group and while I think they hire mostly contractors to start, you can convert that to a full-time position if they like your work and they're pretty plugged into the AA Dev scene so you'll be able to plug into the local network.
|3 years 29 weeks ago||Scheduling wise it looks like||
Penn State has the best slate : 3 bye weeks, with only the Michigan game in between byes, they get OSU, NW, and MSU at home.
|3 years 29 weeks ago||I guess they wanted to make sure that Michigan||
doesn't do road trip to both Rutgers and Maryland the first year.
|3 years 29 weeks ago||247 has all predictions to Ohio State...||
then again, we have been how accurate those can be from MGoBlog's front page...
|3 years 29 weeks ago||Time to update the score for the 2010 class...||
If the stats on this post is still accurate:
2010 Class Size : 27
Left Team : 17
Suspended for 2013 Season : 1
Marginal Contributors : 3
White Receiver : 1
Devin Gardner : 1
Other Meaningful Contributors : 4
|3 years 30 weeks ago||It sounded like Michigan doesn't want to do more than 2||
night games a year and we're already maxxed out from the ESPN/ABC side of things so this is no surprise.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||I would be surprised if we do worse than 8-4||
That said, if we are 5-2 or worse going into the second bye week we're probably in trouble.
It does look like Nebraska and Michigan State have the easiest paths to the CCG though.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||I guess the warmest appealing location would be||
|3 years 31 weeks ago||I think it'll slow down for a few years...||
until the Big XII's GoR is up for renewal. I can see the Big Ten making another run at Texas and see how that turns out.
Personally I would like to see a modified verson of the Big Ten - Pac 12 alliance to be back on. Now that the Big Ten has more teams than the Pac 12, I would imagine they would be more amenable to a setup where each side commits to 6-7 games a year instead of insisting on a full 12 game slate, which was the big hang up originally.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||It would be hilarious if...||
...they announce the joining of additional schools during that announcement.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||I wonder how the break up is between Non-con and Conf games...||
I went to the UMass game and those games had a marked worse attendence than the conference games - hopefully the future years will be much better since we're playing more interesting match ups.
|3 years 32 weeks ago||Easy answer...||
the second one is photoshopped - take a close look at the lettering.
Fern's letter is real though, AFAIK
|3 years 32 weeks ago||I think this is the Lacrosse team's first true D1 win, right?||
If I remember correctly the team that Michigan won against last year was also a newly christened D-1 team like Michigan.
|3 years 32 weeks ago||It's based off of a Businessweek article||
that uses self-reported data from PayScale (big flag #1)
There's a lot of areas to poke holes here but the two biggest
1) They are assuming that Student Athlete ROI = Regular Graduate ROI
2) They are adjusting the ROI by the GSR to try to split the difference between White and Black athletes. Not only is this a stupid way to go about estimating this, the orgiinal Methodology uses GSR to calculate the original number, so they are double counting this metric.
Generally speaking, the schools that do the best in these analyses tend to do have a have a higher % of students in STEM+Business majors. All this really shows is that is ND has a lot of those guys (as a % of student population), which makes sense since Michigan offers a much wider breadth of study areas.
|3 years 33 weeks ago||He's Greyshirting||
...so he'll count for next year
|3 years 33 weeks ago||Technically true...||
I remember going through the numbers a few years back and half the cost is due to legal fees fighting anti-death penalty lawsuits over that period.
If those lawsuits went away, then the cost is more in line and more cost effective
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Didn't Arizona just foul while in the bonus?||
Why no 1 and 1?
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Maybe they expect attendance to go down||
...after they start playing the The America 12?
|3 years 36 weeks ago||I didn't realize that Temple was A10||
I thought this was their first year in the Big East for some reason - and that they were playing in the MAC before that.
|3 years 37 weeks ago||This article is funnier now||
that Kentucky got knocked out by NIT 8th seed Robert Morris.
|3 years 37 weeks ago||Aren't they playing in the early afternoon though?||
I doubt they'll stick around just to heckle Michigan...then again, who knows...
|3 years 38 weeks ago||Having gone through the process...||
my sense is that Ross is stronger for general tech placement and has better presense in the West coast - plus, most of the Columbia grads I know who work in tech companies tend to stay on the finance track.
That said, if you're seriously going for management consulting as your main then you should know that hiring is mostly region based and you have a much better shot of getting into a NYC/NE office from Columbia than from Michigan, which places people more into Chicago/Detroit/DC
|3 years 38 weeks ago||The one thing that skews this slightly...||
is that Ross students graduate about a month earlier than most other B-schools. I would expect it to be higher if the dates are standardized, although Columbia may still have an edge here.
|3 years 38 weeks ago||Columbia's B-school||
is slightly better ranked and if you want to break into I-banking it is definitely a better choice than Ross - if you're looking outside of finance and if you're more flexible in your job location after graduation than I would strongly consider going back to Michigan.
If it's NYC or bust than it's tougher to do it from Ross, although many students have done so in past by putting their networking skills to use.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||So he's leaving Purdue in less than 2 months?||
Can't say I blame him given the upgrade in terms of the school and position, but a bit of douchy move
|3 years 40 weeks ago||He got a year off||
So he's a 5th year senior in HS.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||I think he took last year off to recover - should be playing||
|3 years 42 weeks ago||There is technically a way to add an exhibition game||
in during the school year.
NCAA rules state that
1)All eligible players can participate in a maximum of 12 regular season games (+ exceptions of CCGs, international games, Hawaii games)
2)A regular season game is defined as a scrimmage against outside competiton
This means that a intra-team scrimmage that is open to the public can be held as long as the starters (maybe the entire 2-deep) don't play.
How enticing is a Fall 'Spring game' where the starters don't play? No clue, but it'll be good practice for guys who have already burned a red-shirt and I'm sure enough people will show up for the school to not lose money on it.
|3 years 42 weeks ago||The best hope for Michigan this year...||
is to hope for a 3 or 4 way tie similar to last year.
I think Michigan can go 5-1 to round out the final 6 remaining games to finish 13-5. In order for MSU and Indiana to be in the same boat, they'll need to drop a few expected win each...yeah, will be a tough order this year.
That loss to Wisconsin really sucked :|
|3 years 42 weeks ago||Thinking about this a bit more...||
This announcement probably means that the Big Ten is going for a 10 game conference slate (and almost guarantees further expansion sooner than later).
Assuming a 14 team league at 9 conference games, there would be 42 (14x3) OOC games to schedule annually from a pool of 110 teams. My gut feeling would be that it would be hard to arrange matchups against 1/3 of all eligible opponents annually.
Then again...I suppose 1 MAC, 1 Big East, 1 Real opponent might work...
|3 years 42 weeks ago||This makes sense and actually be ideal.||
I thought they wanted to be in East with Michigan and OSU but if that's not the case - what's there to discuss? Indiana vs Purdue?
|3 years 42 weeks ago||When is the timeline for this? 2016-17, like the conference||
game increases? Otherwise there's a Michigan game in 2014 that might need to be canceled...
|3 years 42 weeks ago||Only hope now is that we don't run into||
a lot of big, defensive minded teams in the tourney early - recipe for disaster
|3 years 42 weeks ago||That's assuming that that the current metric holds w/ the||
selection committee. I understand that it might, but 3 of the 5 conferences have 9 game schedules once the Big Ten changes its structure so I doubt it'll be a huge factor
|3 years 42 weeks ago||So who's #1 next week? Duke?||
All the other teams in the top 5 have at least one loss this week...
|3 years 42 weeks ago||I'm a bit hesitant to call TE a source of strength||
Funchess looked good against MAC level competition but he really seemed to struggle later in the season.
|3 years 42 weeks ago||That's interesting - so despite the smaller class next year||
Michigan will still potentially have close to the same number of Michigan kids in the class as last year.
In your article you mention 7-8 prospects and even assuming Michigan loses out that's still 5-6 kids. Not too far from the 8 prospects from this year.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Happens all the time||
His only mistake is saying it in an interview.
That said, ill be interested in how he feels a few years from now. Living the rivalry is very different.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Not last year where we had no QB depth||
This year, though...we have Russ Bellomy again.
...here's to hoping that he improves the off season.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Looking at MGoBlue's tv special||
It looks like the official board has 27 slots that they are filling up, so it doesn't look like there will be surprise commits here...unless Sypniewski isn't a scholly player
|3 years 44 weeks ago||One of the weirder rumors I heard...||
was from a Maryland site (I think the one on 247 sports) that spoke about a possible C7 - Big Ten alliance where C7 will get a TV deal through BTN + a scheduling alliance similar to the ACC/Big Ten challenge.
Sounds crazy enough that it can come true.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||I wouldn't mind seeing PSU sanctioned be lessened||
Seeing the cases for UNC and now Miami being what it is, the NCAA might as well undo all the damage they have done the past few years and start afresh.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Pretty hilarious end to the PSU-Neb game||
PSU goes 1-6 on the FT line in the last 24 seconds to lose by 4
|3 years 46 weeks ago||Eh, I think it's more likely that Te'o lied to...||
...cover up the fact that it was a 100% online relationship than anything malicious. Still a pretty embarassing spotlight on their star player though.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||I think it's June...||
probably the same time when they announce the names of the new divisions (if they do change it at all)
|3 years 46 weeks ago||I really think that||
the Inner-Outer division split that was on the poll is going to be the final divisions when the whole thing is set in stone...I guess we'll find out soon enough!
|3 years 46 weeks ago||I think the bowl list is too short||
With at least 14 members in the B1G by 2014, and with no signs of the # of the bowls decreasing, the conference will probably average 10 eligible teams a season.
|3 years 47 weeks ago||How many spots are left? 3?||
So is the most likely combo Green, Dawson and Hunt?
|3 years 47 weeks ago||Operational cashflow and discount rate tends to be play||
the biggest role when it comes to doing these type of valuations - power schools that seem lower than expected most likely have either higher than typical risk that may impact future earnings of the program (Miami, Penn State) or has a lot of money tied up in either debt to pay for stadium expansions or payout fired coaches. I suspect the $65MM expansion of Memorial Stadium is pushing down Nebraska's valuation.
A school like Iowa, on the otherhand, is highly stable with no major FB investments in the past few years (that I am aware of anyway) so it stacks up very well in this type of ranking
|3 years 47 weeks ago||You forget that Florida got totally blown out in the bowl game||
ND will probably still be in the top 5
|3 years 47 weeks ago||I thought I would be rooting for ND going in...||
but watching ND getting thrashed has been way too entertaining. Hope they get shut out!
|3 years 47 weeks ago||Unfortunately I have to agree -||
In an ideal world both teams will lose but the idea of 3 of SEC's top teams all losing this Bowl season puts this over the edge to make me root for the Irish.
That said, I have a hard time seeing them pull out the W...
|3 years 47 weeks ago||Bowl Season's great...||
but I feel like it drags on a bit too long. I wish it was over right around New Years Day.
|3 years 48 weeks ago||I gotta say||
I did enjoy seeing all those USC players on the sidelines looking banged up near the end of the game...Michigan definitely did not get 'out physicaled'.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Live sports is well positioned to||
cash in even if the model hours ala carte... Prices will probably go up quite a bit though.
the biggest losers will probably be talk shows and niche programming.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Does that mean that one of the '28-29' openspots will come from||
Interesting turn of events, to put it mildly.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||Is the misspelling of Binghamton intentional?||
It's hard to tell because the different posts go back and forth on the spelling....
|3 years 51 weeks ago||Isn't Molk with the Chargers now?||
It'll be fun to see those guys play together again
|3 years 51 weeks ago||Binghamton is a pretty depressed city...||
But the university is actually not located in Binhamton but in nearby Vestal, which isn't horrible.
Theres a lot of old money lying around from back when IBM was based out of there but its been trending downward ever since.
Still a big defence presence though...Lockheed was a huge employer back when I graduated.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||Ah - my undergrad alma mater||
Unfortunately the Bearcats have pretty much been consistently horrible (except for that nice run a few years back that was broken up by a drug fueled scandal) ever since we moved up to Div I a decade or so ago.
Mich will have a field day with the team -
Mich - 90
Bing - 45
|4 years 2 days ago||Looking at the USA Coach Salary DB...||
Bielema was already making about $2.65 mill - certainly not chump change.
If he really is heading off ro Arkansas I expect them to pay at least in the $3.5M range, which would make him one of the best paid in the SEC as well - right around Spurrier's salary level.
Avg pay in the top 3 conferences:
Big 12 - $3M
SEC - $2.7M
Big Ten - $2.3M
|4 years 3 days ago||I understand that Ross is thinking about...||
adding a business minor pretty soon - I wonder if some of that is driven by the desire to give more access to athletes...it's a shame to not be able to market the top quality B-school due to the nigh impossibility of juggling both workloads (unless you're Zoltan Mesko, BBA '09)
