Let's consider this before we get excited - how often is Bacon right/wrong with these types of things?
Also, making a guess means you should probably still bet on the field here.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Oregon had a bye week last||
Oregon had a bye week last week, so they had 12 days to prepare for this game.
I think the OL injuries had an effect, but as many have said, I don't Oregon's D is good and that certainly wasn't effected by OL injuries.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Actually, NCAA busted Spence||
Actually, NCAA busted Spence for a year (like McGary) for that failed drug test (also for ecstasy), but he (and his parents) fought it saying it was slipped in his drink and got it reduced to 3 games. His dad threatened to sue the Big Ten because of the yearlong suspension.
Given that he clearly lied about it being slipped in his drink, dude should be suspended that full year (or worse given that he lied). But the more important matter here is that he gets help for what looks like an addiction.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Utah||
Wait, you said the Utah game scares you a lot. A lot a lot. But you gave it a 6.5 on the worry-meter, shouldn't it be like an 8? Because yes, that game makes me more nervous than any game, save MSU/OSU. If M loses there, they are 2-2 (most likely) and the players could easily lose confidence yet again, ala last season. Then they have to go on the road to Rutgers with that lack of confidence, and gulp, 2-3 could be staring them in the face....
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Honestly, I felt immediately||
Honestly, I felt immediately after the game that it wasn't as bad as the scoreboard indicated. In part because of the final boxscore, but also, it just didn't seem THAT bad while I was watching it. Having said that, it did seem like one team (ND) was in complete control and knew exactly what they were doing, while another (M) seemed to be feeling things out and scrambling to have it all come together. Given the change in OC and the change in defensive philosophy, it would seem this would make a bit of a sense....here's to hoping it gels as the season goes along.

Ace, glad to hear you're doing better and hope it continues. If I may ask, do you have any recommendations for a type of doctor you went to for food allergy tests/advice or for CFS? The reason I ask is that I've suffered through something that I'm not sure what it is. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but the treatment I've had for it has put it into remission according to my GI doc. All the while, I'm still suffering all kinds of symptoms of something, GI related symptoms as well as some strange chronic fatigue/light-headedness/lack of focus that comes and goes at random times. Getting the Crohn's in remission has helped, but only like 20-40% helped. While I don't necessarily think I'm gluten intolerant (I don't feel worse after eating pasta/bread), I do think it could be a different food allergy issue or CFS even (though again I'm not sure that I have that as my situation isn't as bad as a number of stories I've read on the internet....but I am glad I have an office job because there is no way I could do physical work when I'm suffering through one of my "fatigue bouts"). So in summation, do you have a type of doc you could recommend? CFS seems to be something that all the docs I've talked to don't have much of a clue about and food allergy seems to be well down their list of possible causes.
Thanks! And keep spreading the word, chronic illness f'n sucks.

At least the first part of that is inaccurate. ND got 3 points off of the turnovers. So the question becomes how do you lose by 28 and give up less than 300 yds of offense? I mean, it was 21-0 at halftime with 0 turnovers at that point.
I'm with a number of the folks that are saying this wasn't as bad as the scoreboard indicated, but it was as bad as what your eyes were seeing. ND looked in complete control and M was just looked like they were scrambling, trying to fit into new systems on both O and D. The most alarming thing to me though is how this team completely wilts and essentially quits when the going gets tough, specifically on the road. Guess I fell for all the offseason "this team is so much tighter, we're all best buds now, leadership everywhere" talk.

Not really what he said. He said he'd be a Buckeye for life, as in "someone born and raised in Ohio", not a OSU Buckeye.

Come on man, that's not what he said at all if you are referring to his twitter comment.
I can't embed since I'm at work, but Farrell said he's getting a NC St. feeling early in the week but that is NOT his pick just yet. Did not mention Roseboro being a lean nor that he actually felt that's where he'll pick.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Interesting. I wonder if his||
Interesting. I wonder if his choice will boil down to what position he wants to play, instead of what school. UCLA saying "you're our next Anthony Barr" has to be pretty enticing for a recruit.

The mad scramble of crystal ball choices/flips to UM for Bilal started with Steve Wiltfong. He's generally "in the know" with a lot of Midwest kids, but he isn't always right. I bet the majority of the picks for UM for Bilal have to do with Wiltfong making his for UM. Here's to hoping Wiltfong's right!

So would this effect M's recruitment of him? Does he want to be a pass rushing OLB in college and thus make it less likely to choose M if they only want him at DE? Maybe nobody knows, but I'm curious if the recruiting sites are putting him at OLB on their own choice or is KLS saying this is what he wants to be in college?

I'm massively worried. It helps that Hoke is hyping him up a bit, but nonetheless, it's definitely a major concern that won't go away unless he does somewhat solid against ND.
On the positive side of things, it sure seems like true freshman Cam Robinson is going to be starting at LT for Bama...and they're Bama.

I like her writing for the most part and this in no way takes away from her writing style, but I find she writes for people that don't actually pay attention to college football. Or maybe I just pay way too much attention to college football.

Brandon didn't set up that home and home, Martin did. In fact, Brandon tried like hell to get it moved to a bigger venue (i.e. Giants stadium) but UConn didn't budge. I agree that with Mr. "Brand", he's going to want a large stadium with lots of people watching, so I imagine it will be 2 solid teams with solid tradition/history.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||UCLA has already been||
UCLA has already been announced in a home & home for 2022/2023. Va Tech is set for 2020/2021. Arkansas for 2018/2019. Oklahoma for 2025/2026.
I wonder if these new home and homes will be for that far out or will the athletic dept double up and Power 5 conference opponent home and homes.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Not UConn||
As long as it's not like when they announced there would be a monster opponent for the "new" Big House after they finished the club suites.... and then it was friggin UConn, I'm happy.

I'm not sure what this means. Does it include the nickel spot? Or is it just the boundary and field corners and these 3 are the leaders for those 2 spots?

Am I the only one that thinks it's reflective material and won't look nearly as bad on game day/in person as it does in this pic?
Having said that, I like the standard home uniforms way way better.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||I actually kind of agree with||
I actually kind of agree with this. I think the numbers and stripes on the sleeves are of the reflective material and you won't notice it all that much on actual game day. But in this picture, it looks horrific because of how obvious the material is.
It's definitely not better than the standard jerseys, but I don't think it will look anywhere near as bad on game day as it does here....at least I hope so.

In that Snyder article, there is this quote....and it's amazing. Given that weight rooms/locker rooms are basically outdated after 5 years and the arms race to update them to recruit the best talent is ever present, Snyder lays down the law....of course, he's at a school that probably has little hope of recruiting the top talent, so maybe this is self serving a bit.
"Everybody is building Taj Mahals," Snyder said, "and I think it sends the message -- and young people today I think are more susceptible to the downside of that message, and that it's not about education. We're saying it is, but it's really about the glitz and the glitter, and I think sometimes values get distorted that way. I hate to think a young guy would make a decision about where he's going to get an education based on what a building looks like."
