He's saying he's a lock to…

He's saying he's a lock to be gone after no more than 2 seasons in AA.

"In any event, Howard's sophomore season is when we're really looking at him to be an impact rotational piece. With Houstan a near lock to be gone and the SG spot working itself out, Jett should be in line for a significant role at the SG/SF spots..."

Jett's soph year would be Houstan's junior year.

The fact that nobody has put in a Crystal Ball yet tells you everything you need to know....it's unfortunately just fluff....at least for now.

Tennessee's coach is Jeremy…

Tennessee's coach is Jeremy Pruitt, not Scott Pruitt....who I assume is in your head because he just resigned as head of the EPA

Parsons

I believe I read somewhere that the staff isn't too keen on Parsons' attitude.  Don't remember if this is prima donna type of attitude or just bad character.

Dobbs

Could be a lot of things (grades, attitude, etc) but until some sort of inside info gets leaked, it's all speculation.  Also, easy to forget, dude is just about to enter his junior year, plenty of time for things to change dramatically here.

My guess is that McCaffery

My guess is that McCaffery gets #10, a nod to Brady.

How many days before we get

How many days before we get "locked" in their concrete monstrosity again?

There's no way the D is as

There's no way the D is as good (or really, nearly as good) with all the talent leaving, but don't undersell the importance of 2nd year in Brown's system....players are now familiar with it and should see a jump after going through spring and fall camps, as they get to focus on the little things and the technique aspects, install of learning a new playbook.  The offense should look to carry team early though as a lot of the young guys on O got some valuable experience this year (Evans, Bredeson, McDoom, Crawford, TWJr, Asiasi).  Schedule also sets up nicely I think....don't see Florida's offense taking a leap forward and will lose Tabor (most likely) and other key pieces from D.  Cincy is going backwards, Air Force will be interesting (damn you Brandon), then @ Purdue, then bye week before facing Sparty at home....and who knows what Sparty will look like next year (losing McDowell will hurt no doubt).  Think, by then, D will be rounding into better shape.

Also piggybacking on

Also piggybacking on this....how is M going to take all these OL??  They have 4 OL committed currently, want to get the "Fab 5" plus Slaton.  Obviously, it's possible there will be some decommits and non-commits from the 6 uncommitted they are going after, but what kind of numbers is M looking at attaining at OL? 7? 8?

He's a NorCal kid so decent

He's a NorCal kid so decent chance he's a Niners fan and thus a fan of Harbaugh.  Question is if distance is a factor.

If you looked up "Harbaugh

If you looked up "Harbaugh Player" in the dictionary, decent chance you'd find this video.

I reward you all the points,

I reward you all the points, sir

Here's the thing, if that

Here's the thing, if that last play that didn't happen actually doesn't happen and it's just a standard punt and a Failed Mary, does that game make the top 100? It was a pretty ho hum game, other than that play and the Lewis/Burbridge battle.

I'm beginning to wonder if

I'm beginning to wonder if it's a conscientious decision too...I count only 6 offers out to OH kids in the 2017 class too and most of those were offered by Hoke (Josh Myers, Williamson, etc).  Given Harbaugh, I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to win it all with an Ohio-free roster as a giant middle finger to all the OSU fans that say "Michigan football wouldn't be anything without Ohio"

Seems pretty likely at least

Seems pretty likely at least one former Wolverine will win a SB ring.  Only 3 teams in playoffs do not have a Wolverine (Vikes, Texans, 'Skins) and I would consider it a major surprise if any of those 3 even made the SB, let alone won it.

There's actually multiple

There's actually multiple guys on this list that almost picked Michigan - Garnett, Sheldon Day and wasn't Jeremy Cash a guy that was high on M during his recruitment?  Or was it OSU?

To be fair, the 7th CB taken

To be fair, the 7th CB taken in the 2015 draft was picked 50th overall (Ronald Darby).  Would any of us be surprised if Lewis was taken mid-2nd round?  I feel like he's a 1st-2nd rounder, so it wouldn't surprise me at all to be ranked the 7th best CB going into the 2016 draft.

Perhaps, but just to satisfy

Perhaps, but just to satisfy my intrigue of what might have happened had he punted it backwards, what would be the ruling if he punted it out of the endzone?  I know that if you fumble it out of the endzone, it's a safety but what about a punt?

Just thought this up today,

Just thought this up today, but as folks know, O'Neill went to still punt the ball after the botched snap, but he was facing the wrong way.  Should O'Neill have gotten the punt off and it went in the back of the Michigan endzone, would that have been a safety and thus a tie game?

The list isn't actually one

The list isn't actually one for the NFL, it's for "if you needed to win a college football game this Saturday, which B1G players would you want on your team?"

Now, having said that, it's Scouts Inc that's creating the list and I'm sure it's hard to take the "scouting for NFL purposes" glasses off here.

I didn't mean this as a knock

I didn't mean this as a knock on the other guys, but based on what I've seen from Lewis this year and what the advanced analysis (from Brian and PFF), Lewis is arguably the Thorpe winner and a first team AA if the season ended today.  To not fit him on this list at all is lunacy.

Admittedly, this is a list of

Admittedly, this is a list of "Who they would draft to have as a team entirely made of B1G players?", so if there were 10 DB's that were better players than the top QB, the QB would still go ahead of the 3rd or 4th ranked DB since the team needs a QB (think of it like Draftageddon).  But the DB's they had ranked above Lewis were Peppers, Desmond King, Eric Murray and Vonn Bell.

Mainly because I didn't

Mainly because I didn't really care about the top 25 list and was pointing out the lack of Lewis in said list seems to me to be the most discussion inducing aspect of the list.

Minor note

Hey Brian, on the 29 yard QB keeper on the zone read that was called back because of a WR hold, it's definitely RJS (not Ojemudia) that bit on the fake of the RB up the middle.

Ojemudia was only a -7 for this game now...yay?

It's here.....it's actually

It's here.....it's actually here.  GO BLUE!!!

Such a tease!

Yes, I agree, Draymond Green

Yes, I agree, Draymond Green is the worst.  Can't understand how anyone likes him from an M fandom standpoint.

In a similar vain to Braxton, my guy is easy and it's Troy Smith.  Dude was what you'd want in your QB - calm, collected, always made the right play, never quit, killer record.  Maybe this has a lot to do with that comeback in 2005, but he has a lot of my respect for the way he played.

This is pretty offensive.

This is pretty offensive.  Jalen Rose has donated money to the university and donated over $1 million to help kids in poor areas get better opportunities.  He's created a leadership academy for Detroit kids and paid to renovate his high school's gym.  He's ambassador and spokesman for the NBA's retired players association and won awards for his philathropy....yet Jalen only cares about Jalen.  Seriously?

Wait

Wait, aren't Darboh & Chesson RS Jr's this coming season?

Irony as in Harbaugh's

Irony as in Harbaugh's comments back when he was at Stanford about M pushing football players into "easy" majors

This is mesmerizing

Disinterested is meant more

Disinterested is meant more for Smotrycz and lost meant for Chatman.  Afterall, it was Smot's soph year, I hope he's not still lost at that point.  And I think a lot of Smot's issues were in regards to his role in Beilein's system.  If I remember correctly, I don't think he was too happy with the number of minutes he was getting at the 5 spot (i.e. he didn't want to be banging down low).  I'm worried that maybe Chatman doesn't fit in to what Beilein wants from him in his system, ala Smot.  Time will tell, hopefully an offseason does wonders.

Chatman

Does anyone else see any similarities to how Chatman looks out there to how Smotrycz looked in his final year here?  Absolutely zero confidence in themselves, look incredibly disinterested/lost.  Hope Chatman can stick through it and get to a place where he's utilizing all the athletic skills he has.  Maybe it's just an offseason of weights and practicing with his teammates is all that he needs.

Don't forget OL Darris

Don't forget OL Darris Sawtelle (SP?) from the mid-2000's.  Granted, he was a Tenn legacy (I forget if it was his father or grandfather that played there).  Tenn used to get some solid Ohio kids from time to time too....strangely, it seems like none of these of these Mich/Ohio kids has ever worked out at Tenn.

While technically true

While technically true (turning down Meyer @ OSU), he did say yes to Meyer twice before, as a GA at Bowling Green and then joining him at UF in Urban's final year there (Muschamp held on to Durkin after Meyer left, not Meyer holding on to Durkin after Zook left).  Clearly though, he's wisened with age.

Wow.  Considering how early

Wow.  Considering how early he decided for M and how he was a class leader with all the t-shirts, etc and how important education was to him, this is really surprising after just one semester....or was he an EE?

I don't know Dave Ablauf all

I don't know Dave Ablauf all that well, so take this as just an opinion, but when I volunteered for the athletic department when I was a student (2001), I worked with all the SIDs, including Dave, who was great from the little contact I had with him (football SID is obviously much busier than most of the other SIDs).  So he's been there for a very long time and was Bruce Madej's right hand man (I assume he has taken Bruce's place with Bruce retiring).  I doubt Dave is just a "Brandon guy" and is instead bringing up Harbaugh comments that were pretty disrespectful.  I remember being on this blog when they were said and everyone ready to go to their local Ann Arbor torch & pitchfork store to skewer Harbaugh for life.  I seem to remember a Mike Hart comment being "well, he just blew any chance he had of ever being Michigan coach"....time heals all wounds (and then some) I suppose.

That 2nd point is key here.

That 2nd point is key here.  The recruits Beilein appeals to are the ones you want because they're gym rats and love the game and have a strong desire to get better.  I'd rather have the kids that sign up because they buy in to what Beilein is selling in terms of becoming better than say, the top 25 recruit that signs up because of the glam & glitz of a Midnight Madness or the prestige of being a basketball player at a Kentucky or Kansas.

Not to mention, looking at previous years of the top 247 recruits, outside of the top 5 or 10 recruits, it's pretty hit or miss with the top guys.  At this point, I'll trust Beilein's ability to identify the guys he wants out of the remaining guys that aren't in that top 5 or 10.

Important Question

Let's consider this before we get excited - how often is Bacon right/wrong with these types of things?

Also, making a guess means you should probably still bet on the field here.

Oregon had a bye week last

Oregon had a bye week last week, so they had 12 days to prepare for this game.

I think the OL injuries had an effect, but as many have said, I don't Oregon's D is good and that certainly wasn't effected by OL injuries.

Actually, NCAA busted Spence

Actually, NCAA busted Spence for a year (like McGary) for that failed drug test (also for ecstasy), but he (and his parents) fought it saying it was slipped in his drink and got it reduced to 3 games.  His dad threatened to sue the Big Ten because of the yearlong suspension.

http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2014/01/07/noah-spence-suspension.html

Given that he clearly lied about it being slipped in his drink, dude should be suspended that full year (or worse given that he lied).  But the more important matter here is that he gets help for what looks like an addiction.

Utah

Wait, you said the Utah game scares you a lot. A lot a lot.  But you gave it a 6.5 on the worry-meter, shouldn't it be like an 8?  Because yes, that game makes me more nervous than any game, save MSU/OSU.  If M loses there, they are 2-2 (most likely) and the players could easily lose confidence yet again, ala last season.  Then they have to go on the road to Rutgers with that lack of confidence, and gulp, 2-3 could be staring them in the face....

Honestly, I felt immediately

Honestly, I felt immediately after the game that it wasn't as bad as the scoreboard indicated.  In part because of the final boxscore, but also, it just didn't seem THAT bad while I was watching it.  Having said that, it did seem like one team (ND) was in complete control and knew exactly what they were doing, while another (M) seemed to be feeling things out and scrambling to have it all come together.  Given the change in OC and the change in defensive philosophy, it would seem this would make a bit of a sense....here's to hoping it gels as the season goes along.

Recommendation?

Ace, glad to hear you're doing better and hope it continues.  If I may ask, do you have any recommendations for a type of doctor you went to for food allergy tests/advice or for CFS?  The reason I ask is that I've suffered through something that I'm not sure what it is.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but the treatment I've had for it has put it into remission according to my GI doc.  All the while, I'm still suffering all kinds of symptoms of something, GI related symptoms as well as some strange chronic fatigue/light-headedness/lack of focus that comes and goes at random times.  Getting the Crohn's in remission has helped, but only like 20-40% helped.  While I don't necessarily think I'm gluten intolerant (I don't feel worse after eating pasta/bread), I do think it could be a different food allergy issue or CFS even (though again I'm not sure that I have that as my situation isn't as bad as a number of stories I've read on the internet....but I am glad I have an office job because there is no way I could do physical work when I'm suffering through one of my "fatigue bouts").  So in summation, do you have a type of doc you could recommend?  CFS seems to be something that all the docs I've talked to don't have much of a clue about and food allergy seems to be well down their list of possible causes.

Thanks!  And keep spreading the word, chronic illness f'n sucks.

At least the first part of

At least the first part of that is inaccurate. ND got 3 points off of the turnovers. So the question becomes how do you lose by 28 and give up less than 300 yds of offense? I mean, it was 21-0 at halftime with 0 turnovers at that point.

I'm with a number of the folks that are saying this wasn't as bad as the scoreboard indicated, but it was as bad as what your eyes were seeing. ND looked in complete control and M was just looked like they were scrambling, trying to fit into new systems on both O and D. The most alarming thing to me though is how this team completely wilts and essentially quits when the going gets tough, specifically on the road. Guess I fell for all the offseason "this team is so much tighter, we're all best buds now, leadership everywhere" talk.

3rd?  It's only been UNC and

3rd?  It's only been UNC and UM, no?
