Actually, NCAA busted Spence for a year (like McGary) for that failed drug test (also for ecstasy), but he (and his parents) fought it saying it was slipped in his drink and got it reduced to 3 games. His dad threatened to sue the Big Ten because of the yearlong suspension.
Given that he clearly lied about it being slipped in his drink, dude should be suspended that full year (or worse given that he lied). But the more important matter here is that he gets help for what looks like an addiction.
|1 week 1 day ago||Utah||
Wait, you said the Utah game scares you a lot. A lot a lot. But you gave it a 6.5 on the worry-meter, shouldn't it be like an 8? Because yes, that game makes me more nervous than any game, save MSU/OSU. If M loses there, they are 2-2 (most likely) and the players could easily lose confidence yet again, ala last season. Then they have to go on the road to Rutgers with that lack of confidence, and gulp, 2-3 could be staring them in the face....
|1 week 2 days ago||Honestly, I felt immediately||
Honestly, I felt immediately after the game that it wasn't as bad as the scoreboard indicated. In part because of the final boxscore, but also, it just didn't seem THAT bad while I was watching it. Having said that, it did seem like one team (ND) was in complete control and knew exactly what they were doing, while another (M) seemed to be feeling things out and scrambling to have it all come together. Given the change in OC and the change in defensive philosophy, it would seem this would make a bit of a sense....here's to hoping it gels as the season goes along.
|1 week 5 days ago||Recommendation?||
Ace, glad to hear you're doing better and hope it continues. If I may ask, do you have any recommendations for a type of doctor you went to for food allergy tests/advice or for CFS? The reason I ask is that I've suffered through something that I'm not sure what it is. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but the treatment I've had for it has put it into remission according to my GI doc. All the while, I'm still suffering all kinds of symptoms of something, GI related symptoms as well as some strange chronic fatigue/light-headedness/lack of focus that comes and goes at random times. Getting the Crohn's in remission has helped, but only like 20-40% helped. While I don't necessarily think I'm gluten intolerant (I don't feel worse after eating pasta/bread), I do think it could be a different food allergy issue or CFS even (though again I'm not sure that I have that as my situation isn't as bad as a number of stories I've read on the internet....but I am glad I have an office job because there is no way I could do physical work when I'm suffering through one of my "fatigue bouts"). So in summation, do you have a type of doc you could recommend? CFS seems to be something that all the docs I've talked to don't have much of a clue about and food allergy seems to be well down their list of possible causes.
Thanks! And keep spreading the word, chronic illness f'n sucks.
|1 week 6 days ago||At least the first part of||
At least the first part of that is inaccurate. ND got 3 points off of the turnovers. So the question becomes how do you lose by 28 and give up less than 300 yds of offense? I mean, it was 21-0 at halftime with 0 turnovers at that point.
I'm with a number of the folks that are saying this wasn't as bad as the scoreboard indicated, but it was as bad as what your eyes were seeing. ND looked in complete control and M was just looked like they were scrambling, trying to fit into new systems on both O and D. The most alarming thing to me though is how this team completely wilts and essentially quits when the going gets tough, specifically on the road. Guess I fell for all the offseason "this team is so much tighter, we're all best buds now, leadership everywhere" talk.

In that Snyder article, there is this quote....and it's amazing. Given that weight rooms/locker rooms are basically outdated after 5 years and the arms race to update them to recruit the best talent is ever present, Snyder lays down the law....of course, he's at a school that probably has little hope of recruiting the top talent, so maybe this is self serving a bit.
"Everybody is building Taj Mahals," Snyder said, "and I think it sends the message -- and young people today I think are more susceptible to the downside of that message, and that it's not about education. We're saying it is, but it's really about the glitz and the glitter, and I think sometimes values get distorted that way. I hate to think a young guy would make a decision about where he's going to get an education based on what a building looks like."

MM and RVB were absolute hosses that season. I believe both (I'm 99% sure MM did) said that the level of coaching they got once Hoke and staff came in was light years ahead of what they were getting before. Makes sense with Hoke, Montgomery and Mattison.
I'll give Rich Rod credit for being one hell of an innovative offensive mind, but man did the D absolutely suffer while he was here.

It does appear they are mostly going after OT's though. Maybe Bredeson is a OG since he's listed at 6'4".
Side question - is M strongly going after the 2 highly rated Ohio OL (Kraemer and Eichenberg)? I was reading that ND may lead for both.

Well, let's say you really like this other person and you know they really like you too, would you suggest not seeing each other and not talking to each other? Would you commit to making this person your significant other without talking to/seeing each other?
I think maybe just relaxing and taking the fact that Weber is visiting as often as he is as a really good sign.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Reasonable Expectations?||
Expectations for him seem to be sky high but what is reasonable here? 300 Yds for the season? 500? Manningham had 27 catches for 442 yds as a freshman. Funchess had 15 catches for 234 yds as a freshman. I don't think either of those guys came in as an early enrollee as Canteen did, but I have to think something like 400 yards for him seems reasonable.
|6 weeks 4 days ago||While I agree that it's more||
While I agree that it's more important, I would not say it's far more important. Depth is critical for a program (see UM OL since Hoke has been at UM) and while more 4-star recruits pan out than 3-stars, the majority still do not pan out as hoped. Thus, most of these kids are lottery tickets and the more you have, the better.
I think what the sites should calculate is a rolling 4-year average to see how teams are doing with the full 85 schollies. That way schools that take 25-30 kids in a class for 2 years in a row a couple years ago aren't held back by the fact they can only take 15 or so in the next 2 classes. This way, they could also take into account kids that don't qualify or transfer early or leave for whatever reason early.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I get that it's your||
I get that it's your immediate reaction here, but come on....none of us have all of the details here. It sure seems like M has put all their eggs in the Weber basket for one. And while Harris' relationship with Borges didn't help things when he got fired, I'm sure it has more to do with Damien's first brush with what college football is, first and foremost - a business. And as such, he has to make a business decision more than an emotional one (being an M fan growing up and idolizing Hart). Let's not forget that Derrick Green grew up a lifelong OSU fan, wears #27 to honor Eddie George and yet he and OSU went their separate ways.
And most of all, he was 16 when he made his M commitment. I can't tell you the number of things I absolutely believed at 16 and then 10 months later, completely did not believe anymore.

Considering Chambers extended his visit from 1 day to 2 days at UM (and this was after he was there the first day, so clearly he was impressed enough that he wanted to stay another day), that has to be pretty counterintuitive to this "wanted to commit to MSU, but BBQ delayed it" sentiment. I guess we'll find out soon enough, but I'd be a little bit surprised if it weren't M.

|7 weeks 5 days ago||To be fair, we don't know how||
To be fair, we don't know how well this staff recruited until 4-5 years from now. Or to put it another way, rankings are nice and all, but how hard the kid is being recruited by other top teams tells me a lot more. For example, this year, Chris Clark is a big time get and that's regardless of his ranking. Urban and OSU wanted him very badly, ND/MSU roughly the same.
But yeah, I would agree that the staff has done a great job recruiting, considering where M has been since the 2007 season (when these kids M is recruiting were in the 5th grade and thus all they really know is M being not good).

Interesting side note, my high school had a chance for a state title in Track & Field Rogers' and Schweigert's senior year (which they did end up winning) and going into the 100m dash finals, all the people in the stands were abuzz with "Stu or Charlie, who's going to win?" and a junior no one was talking about won - Kelly Baraka.

|9 weeks 2 days ago||I'm not going to read too||
I'm not going to read too much into this article as it just seems like a recruit that just didn't like what Urban was selling and then a blog eagerly picking up on the negative reaction and running with it....but if Urban really is saying that he never blames players to the press, then he's a hypocrite. He frequently said to the press how the DB play last year disappointed him. That's not any different than Borges saying "we failed to execute". Not that a major D1 football coach being a hypocrite is much of a surprise of course.
Of course, this is all silly because recruits pick one or the other based on what they want in a program. It sure seems like a number of recruits have picked UM because of the family atmosphere and Hoke & staff being super genuine. And other kids (i.e. Damon Webb) picked OSU because of the super competitive, demand to be the greatest that Urban sells. This isn't to say that these two staffs don't do what the other does, just that the other sells it better or their strength is selling that aspect.

If M hypothetically finishes the class with these guys (realistic, but also tough):
Weber, Cole, Wheatley, KLS, Roseboro, McMillon, Reynolds, generic high 3-star we haven't heard about yet, then this year's class finishes well above (based on 247's composite) last year's 20th ranked class, which also had 16 members.
Now, there are 2 key factors here, landing an elite talent at the top (KLS or Harris) to compare with landing Peppers, and the fact that the 2015 class rankings are not finalized and we know the majority of these guys will drop at least a few spots as senior season late risers jump up. But still, even accounting for the probable drops, this hypothetical class would be solidly better than last year's and probably finish somewhere around 15th overall with only 16 members.

It really doesn't matter if M is 2nd-5th on July 7th, it matters if M is 1st on Signing Day....a guy like KLS could visit for the PSU game, be blown away and have M 1st the rest of the way. KLS is the biggest need at this point I think. I would love to get Harris back in the fold, but he shockingly (given his M fandom) seems to be more and more of a Buckeye every day. In the end, it sure looks like it's going to be a solid class. Maybe no 5-stars (unless they can snag KLS or Harris), but still a lot of top 250 talent.

It seems understandable that it was co-DC's when Urban was first hired since he didn't know Fickell, other than what he saw on TV, and I'm guessing there was a lot of pressure from the Ath Dept to retain Fickell. But to hire another co-DC after Withers leaves seems to say that Urban doesn't have a lot of faith in him, but is pressured to not fire him. Fickell probably has a lot of fans in the Ath Dept after falling on the sword when Tressel left.

That kind of feels a little too much "what have you done for me lately?" at least in regards to Quick. I'm sure the injury doesn't help but the guy has a 94% save percentage between the last 2 playoff seasons combined. Meanwhile, the Canadian goalies have been some of the most high variance goalies out there, especially Luongo and Fleury. Maybe it's just me, but I feel much more confident with the group of US goalies than the Canadian ones.

It's amazing how much better the US is than Canada when it comes to goalies. The US has Miller, Quick, Howard, Schneider, Bishop, etc. Granted, all you need is one and Price may just that.

While true, there's something about this decommit that says "I'm not that interested in visiting other places, but I'm feeling pressure from XXXX" I know he went on a number of visits last spring/summer with Cole/Scott to see schools like Clemson, Georgia, Florida, etc. so it's not like he hasn't seen other programs. And with how he didn't want this decommit news getting out there, it seems like he's really bothered by the fact that he's going back on his word....maybe even against his wishes a little bit. Maybe I'm wrong, but something about this just seems fishy to me.
Anyway, long way away from Signing Day 2015, so let's see Hoke and company do one of the things they do best...recruit.
|39 weeks 3 days ago||I guess what I'm trying to||
I guess what I'm trying to say with this is that I'm not sold on this being a full decommit and that it's unlikely Campbell goes to UM now, as is being postulated by the analysts. If he stops visiting UM over the next 9-12 months, sure, but if he visits for the spring game or the BBQ, I still like our chances a lot.

|39 weeks 3 days ago||Hmmm||
Is it just me or does this seem really strange to anyone else? Campbell has seemed very pro-UM, totally sold ("100% committed" back when he made it official) and all I've seen from recruiting analysts is saying how good of a kid he is and how grounded he is. So he's been pro-UM for months and has visited Ann Arbor 4 times in the 2013 calender year on his (or his parents) own dime, including as recently as 2 weeks before this decommit, where he tweeted "adios Michigan, see you again soon". Does this seem like a kid that is not sold on UM? Given his vague comments about the decommit and the fact that TomVH said Campbell didn't want this decommit getting out there, I wonder if he's feeling pressure from family/girlfriend/whatever to stay local even if he's sold on UM. I'd totally get a decommit if he had been to UM once and committed on that trip, but he's had plenty of opportunities to waver, but instead has visited 2 more times on his own dime and been pro-UM. Seems really strange to me....

FSU's season reminds me a lot of the year Tennessee won the NC in 98. FSU was considered a heavy favorite for NC contender last year with an easy schedule and a senior EJ Manuel, but they blow it one form or another and this year, not much was thought of them. I disagree. The RB's did not put up stats like that under RR. I think you can put it on a good, veteran OL for how good the RB's did in 2011.
And coaches can do an awful lot in 6 months timeframe....just look at what Mattison did in the same 6 month timeframe. Molk won the Rimington and Lewan has turned into a future 1st round pick, that didn't happen without coaching. I'm waiting to judge Funk until these recruits get a couple years in the program. Watching Kalis' development this season will be telling too.
|1 year 6 days ago||Are we already forgetting||
Are we already forgetting Fitz putting up 1000 yards and 5.6 yds/carry in 2011?
|1 year 6 days ago||Considering we trust Lewan||
Considering we trust Lewan and Schofield as good players and the list of walk-ons, Freshmen (RS or otherwise) that are good OLinemen is very very very short, I think it's unfair to put this on Funk. But like everyone else, the OL was the most disturbing part of this game. We thought that the interior would be better after last year, but to me, so far, it's worse. Devin and Fitz have had guys all over them almost instantly way too often this season. And I think this comes down to consistency, not ability....which is what Hoke has been saying in the pressers. We've seen dynamite plays from Kalis and to a lesser extent, Glasgow and Miller, but being consistent has not been there. Consistency is almost always the biggest issue for young guys. So at least it can get better....in leaps and bounds hopefully.
|1 year 6 days ago||Any way you want to slice||
Any way you want to slice this, this is a harbinger of what this team is at this point. I definitely had my hopes raised after last week's game and even pictured the possibility of the young interior O-Line and the D-Line gelling by end of season to maybe even be Nat'l title contenders....but this bursts any and all of that. And makes me worry about possibly winning the Legends division. This team will probably still win 9 games, but the ceiling has been lowered to me.

|1 year 27 weeks ago||I don't know||
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Miami is the best option out of the #2 seeds Lunardi has here. I wouldn't want to face OSU for obvious reasons (Craft), Kansas has the #5 Kenpom rated defense and has Withey, G'town has the #3 Kenpom rated defense and has 6'8" Big East player of the year Otto Porter. Every time UM faces a top 10 defense (OSU, MSU, Wisco), the offense barely looks better than their horrendous defense. While Miami still has a solid defense (#18 in Kenpom's D ratings), that's basically on par with Indiana (ranked #13) and we didn't struggle to score much against them either time. I'm terrified of UM facing any team with an elite D.
But let's face it, UM is going to get an extremely tough matchup in a hypothetical chalk sweet 16 opponent regardless.

Ferns was actually around 75-80 in the initial Scout 300....I'm guessing he'll be in the next 20 or so prospects when the full 300 is released tomorrow. I know that these scouting services try to get out these rankings ASAP to drum up more interest and get more $$, but there were so many kids that Scout missed in their first Scout 300 a few months ago. Lorenzo Carter was a 3 star, JuJu Smith as well I believe and now they are both top 10. Joe Mixon & Elijah Hood were both well down the list and now both are in the top 60 or so. Just seems like they haven't evaluated enough guys yet....probably best to wait until around now to release a real top 250/300 since a ton of offers go out after signing day for the previous class.
Also, anyone else surprised OSU commit Parris Campbell moved up that high after being unranked by all services?
|1 year 28 weeks ago||Agree||
This is entirely "what have you done for me lately?" but it is nonetheless annoying that everyone forgets that Kansas lost to a team that would struggle to even be .500 in any conference in America (Kenpom has TCU 120 spots lower than PSU.....120!!). It sucks but if UM beats PU and IU, then I think they're back in the discussion for a 1 at least. I just want to see UM avoid a tough chalk sweet 16 matchup; whether they are a 1 or 2 seed doesn't matter.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Agree in a sense||
It's fine to snicker about oversigning, sure, but this isn't a case where Saban is in the wrong. Booting these kids was warranted (at least the 3 that were part of the beating/robbery)....if he hadn't, I guarantee there'd be a thread about how could he let this slide, about how he only cares about football and winning. I'm pretty sure Saban was not eyeballing 4 freshmen with solid football credentials coming out of HS for St. Saban's Hospital or whatever pastures he's sending some kids out to in order to get his next class in. All that said, Saban still treats his football program like a ruthless CEO treats his/her business and it's not fair to the kids that just want to have an enjoyable college experience.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||This really isn't about clearning roster space||
Eddie Williams was a universal 5 star recruit, the other 3 4-star recruits (Calloway being a Rivals 100 guy). We can all snicker about how convenient it is for Saban to find room for his next class, but he lost some big time football talent with these guys. The crimes definitely warranted being booted though, just trying to say this wasn't about Saban booting some scrubs off his roster.

To be fair Ace, before last year's commitment-palooza, there were probably only a couple of kids (Lewis, Dawson, Shallman) that you would have thought "this kid might commit this weekend". The only beef I have is with Florida, who is ranked way too high....and probably setting the passing game in football back 100 years. Knocking Georgia for having a bad schedule and getting waxed by South Carolina is ok, but you need to knock Florida's turnover luck this year. There's way too much "turnovers are random, don't buy into it" on this blog to have Florida ranked #6. I'm not even sure Florida is a top 10 team, let alone #6
|1 year 47 weeks ago||I was going to point this out||
I was going to point this out too (#2 on your list). If you want to beef up South Carolina because they lost to 2 very good teams, then you would have to do the same for UM. Yes, South Carolina destroyed UGA, but they don't have any other wins that are impressive (unless you want to count Mizzou/Vandy, which you negged UGA for).
Having said that, I don't think UM needs to be ranked higher, more that South Carolina needs to be ranked lower. At least a few spots lower.

As long as Lewan keeps doing what he's doing, he'll be a projected 1st round pick and thus a likely candidate to leave early. If Fitz puts out per carry averages like last year with a heavier workload, it's also likely he'd leave early (RB's having short careers and all).
Not sure if there are any other possible early entries, but those 2 definitely come to mind.
|2 years 7 weeks ago||I think||
I think that's exactly what they did. That's why Hicks only has 1 red box. They say in their description that the number of red boxes is how many sites were used in the ranking. Since Hicks falls outside the top 250/300, etc of the other lists, they just use the one they have...theirs.
It also explains why Northwestern's center is ranked #138
|2 years 7 weeks ago||USC||
USC has 12 Top 100 guys on that composite list and 3 in the top 10....good lord.

Where's Jeremy Jackson?
|2 years 8 weeks ago||Photoshop opp||
Someone should photoshop Branch's name out and put "NCAA" there instead.
|2 years 9 weeks ago||Any chance||
Any chance Kiffin has found some kind of loophole and is going to sign more than their 18 everyone says they have? I mean, they seem to still be leaders for a number of guys.
|2 years 15 weeks ago||??||
So they have MSU's offense (new QB, new WR's, etc) higher rated than their defense?? That would make me want to buy this game for it's "accuracy"
Skimmed through the ratings and it looks like defenses are lower rated across the board...I think I only saw one team with a defense rating above 95 (USC with a 99), while there were many many teams with offenses above 95.

Something strikes me as odd here....
#6 class in the nation Providence - 4 commits, 2 in the top 100 (#'s 21 and 23)
#14 class in the nation Michigan - 4 commits, 3 in the top 100 (#'s 18, 27 and 76)

Talking to some Duke friends, they are all thrilled he's gone....most of them never thought he fit in from the get go. I'll admit, his style of game never seemed to be the Duke style.
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Perspective||
This has to do with perspective and nothing to do with understanding English....one person's view of strongly considering is not another person's view of strongly considering. To me, Burke going to a draft advisor and weighing things with his parents is strongly considering the NBA.
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Maybe I'm crazy, but the||
Maybe I'm crazy, but the title depicts exactly what is happening in my opinion....the only thing you can question is the word "strongly", but based on his Dad's quotes, I'd say he's pretty strongly considering the NBA. Given he and his Dad's relationship, I'd say he's not just saying these things w/o reason.
|2 years 26 weeks ago||I don't know||
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but his father's quotes seem to me that he's leaning NBA at the moment....but could depend on if he's 1st round material, which I assure you some agent will tell him he is
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Addendum||
As an addendum to this, I volunteered for the athletic department (doing stats) at the time so I was in the press box for that entire weekend (literally like noon-11 pm both days) and while the cheerleaders were out there, a large chunk of the student section were waving dollar bills in the air at them and yelling "Jer-sey Cha-sers <clap> <clap> <clapclapclap>". Later, both teams were doing their skating warmups, the cheerleaders and mascot were taking up the entire blue line-to-blue line area and those of us in the press box were like "Hey, if you want to bring your skating cheerleaders, keep them on your side of the ice" and the team was visibly annoyed with this because they were still skating out to the red line, cutting back around them and then back almost to the red line. One of the other student volunteers commented to me "How hilarious would it be if one of the players took out one of the cheerleaders" and we looked at each other and both said "Komisarek....it'll definitely be Komisarek if that happens" and literally right after we said that, he gave that girl the love tap that caused her to slightly lose her balance. We both looked at each other and busted up laughing.
As for the Ortmeyer hit, a couple things to note about it. One, you'll notice that Ortmeyer breaks his stick on the hit up near the top of the stick, where it met Hendricks' shoulder basically, and Ortmeyer only had one hand on the stick when the hit occurs, meaning he hit him so hard, his force breaks his stick off where it met Hendricks' shoulder....insane. Two, up in the press box we had a TV with the game's feed in case of goal reviews, etc and once play had started back up again, they showed Hendricks on the end of the bench and they were giving him smelling salts, but the dude was gone. He looked like a vegetable....luckily, he was fine and has had a fine professional career (the past 3 seasons played entirely at the NHL level). One of the best 5 hockey hits I've ever seen.
Also, to note about the SCSU game, that was the year that Canada beat the US for the gold medal in SLC and the famous loonie that was buried in the ice for good luck for Canada (now in the hockey HOF). So Michigan had buried a block M in the ice for this tournament, but the SCSU players got wind of it and dug it up and ripped it out during their practice, creating quite a bunch of animosity pre-game, much like Denver forcing Michigan to use the visitors' locker room. In the post-game press conference, Hartigan was a mess....dude didn't look up once, just had his eyes buried to the ground. When he spoke, he was barely audible and completely blamed himself for the loss after deking out Blackburn and having an easy, wide open net, only to see the puck squirt off the end of his stick towards the corner.
As for the Denver game, somebody mentioned this, but the press box was literally swaying after Ortmeyer's goal. It was really freaky and kind of unnerving. But at the same time, I was on cloud nine so cared less than I normally would have about the press box possibly toppling down.
Thanks for the memories....I must tell this story once a year to some new hockey friend of mine. Can't believe it's been 10 years, I remember it so vividly.
|2 years 28 weeks ago||No doubt||
Not sure if there's any doubting this class will finish Top 5 on Rivals....question is if it will be #1. If they land 5 more Rivals250 guys, that will be 17 in the Rivals250, which is the same number Alabama had in their #1 rated 2012 class. Again, caveats of guys moving down in the rankings and maybe not having a large enough class to finish #1, but still, my point is made.
EDIT: I take that back, Alabama had 16 in the Rivals250, 1 of their 4-star guys fell outside the Rivals250....they had 9 Rivals100 guys.
|2 years 28 weeks ago||Crazy||
Here's something interesting to think about....if Hoke lands Levenberry, Isaac, Treadwell and O'Daniel (all guys that you could say UM leads for), he would have landed 9 players ranked in the top 60 according to Rivals. I know these rankings aren't final and I expect some guys to move down (some guys could also move up....Helmholdt even mentioned the only reason Dymonte wasn't higher was due to lack of film of him in coverage) and there could be decommits, but I don't care what OSU fans say, there would be no way Urban could beat that class given who they are after....again, according to Rivals.
Michigan also has a legit shot with Fuller, Cravens, Vanderdoes and Poggi, all top 60 guys.
|2 years 28 weeks ago||So does it look like this?||
Win 0 games - drop to a 4?
Win 1 game - stay at 3
Win 2 games - possibly move to a 2?
Win all 3 games - move to a 2
|2 years 29 weeks ago||Don't forget how the majority||
Don't forget how the majority think that Urban was killing Hoke in recruiting the moment he arrived, forgetting to mention the only uncommitted guy Meyer got over Hoke was Reeves....they bring up how Spence, Washington, Pittman, Williams, etc were all offered by UM, failing to mention how UM stopped recruiting them because they were all set at DL and LB.
|2 years 30 weeks ago||Definitely a slot guy||
They are definitely going after slot guys in the Gallon mold....which, if they are trying to emulate the Pats' offense, having a Wes Welker/Troy Brown out there would be beneficial.
Quick is a guy that fits the mold (though he's just a good WR in general IMO), LaRue as well(whose video I really really like....though he showboats a bit too much), and Onwualu all seem to be that shifty bubble screen type guy they might be looking for.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Yes, but...||
Yes, but for every recruit we picked up on the left hand side of the line (i.e. 4+ star), we picked one up on the right hand side (i.e. 3- star)....whereas OSU barely picked up anybody on the right hand side and a TON on the left hand side. Having said that, this is still an OSU class that's in line with their classes over the past 10 years or so.
All I care about is that Hoke continues to have success in Ohio with kids that also have offers from OSU.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Shaw||
If you strip out mop up duty against WMU, EMU and Minnesota, Shaw had 18 carries for 82 yards his senior year....not exactly what you would hope for from the guy ranked #102 in the country coming out of HS. I like Shaw the person, but for pure football output, he was a disappointment....ditto Carlos Brown.
And just to note, my judgements were relative to rankings....i.e. if Stonum and Roundtree were switched, I'd give both a "solid" ranking....maybe even so so for Roundtree, but probably lean towards solid considering he still has 1 year left.
