| 6 weeks 5 days ago | Conflicted |
I am conflicted about this issue, if it really is one. I loved the Fab Five when they were at Michigan. But in the aftermath of their careers here the tarnish wore off a bit. It would be nice to see all 5 of them there but more important is to see some of the players from the "lean" years early in Beilein's tenure or even those that played under Tommy Amaker. Those are the guys who were most affected by the actions of at least some of the Fab Five. Even better what about the guys from the 1989 championship team? Those guys won the only NC we have. They've been there when they weren't expected to be, much like UM this season. We were written off as being the biggest upset prediction for the 1st round and the 2nd round. After that we were supposed to lose every round as the other team was supposed to be the better team. I'd rather see Glen Rice, Rumeal Robinson, Terry Mills, etc than the Fab Five who played in a game they were expected to but with all that talent just couldn't win it all. Just one fan's opinion. |
| 18 weeks 3 days ago | Well that's interseting |
The article has already been removed as they swoop in to contain damage control of their star. If the story isn't there then the information can't be used, right? The whole thing stinks of lies and cover ups.
In Notre Dame's defense they don't have a lot to lose IMO by defending Te'o. If he's not lying then they can say they stood behind him and supported him all the way. If he is lying they can put the blame squarely on Te'o because well...."gosh he lied to us too." |
| 18 weeks 3 days ago | This just doesn't make sense |
This just doesn't make sense. The spin is she was an internet girlfriend who duped him. Ok I get that and I can see its plausibility in a sense. BUT, if you look at the timeline as presented by Deadspin he supposedly met her after the Stanford game in 2009 and subsequently met her several times in Hawaii. If that is so how is it she faked not only her name but her face?
I think the story will unravel further as time goes by. For now ESPN and major media outlets seem to be buying the company line that he was duped. Methinks he was in on it the whole time. You just keep reading different accounts of when events happened and what sequence which tells me its a lie. If it really happened you'd have the facts fairly straight but if its a lie you're needing to remember all the made up facts to you're more likely to screw up those "facts" when recounting them to various sources. |
| 18 weeks 6 days ago | Back in the day... |
Hard to say that 20 years ago and the Fab Five is already "back in the day" but nevertheless it is true. 20 years ago this was developing into a big national rivalry. Then the Fab Five scandal hit and the rivalry as it were disentegrated. That said in the last couple of years that rivalry has been reignited but at this point it's not really a rivalry but as someone else pointed out more like bad blood. I do remember hating on Laetner, Hurley and Parks. I had a hard time at points even liking the Dream Team because of Laetner but Jordan helped ease that. At any rate the only Duke player I ever liked and respected back then was Grant Hill. Today that hatred of all things Duke has certainly evaporated aside from those early 90's players, still can't stand them. But today's Duke teams do not hold that same level of disdain, perhaps because the smugness has been knocked out of them by losing som often early in the tournament despite high seeding. |
| 18 weeks 6 days ago | It does matter |
It matters as a fan to be able to say, Michigan and #1 in the same sentence. Why? When is the last time you could say that phrase in basketball of football? Its been far too long. Living in Ohio I'm tired of the in-state in-breds being able to use the program I happen to love as fodder to made fun of. These fair weather fans in Ohio don't even care about their basketball team right now, but if they beat Michigan they sure will. It's a great thing as a fan to be able to hold our head high and say our team is #1. As for the team itself it's important right now, as long as they are on their unbeaten streak it continues to build confidence and makes them believe that they truly are unbeatable. Lastly as someone else pointed out, being a #1 seed greatly inhances their likliehood of winning the National Championship. That's good enough for me to want to be #1. Getting tired of seeing these threads/posts wherein said Michigan fan is trying to ease the pain of losing today. I believe we won't lose!!! |
| 20 weeks 6 hours ago | I agree |
I agree its way to early to be dreaming of winning the B1G. I agree UM is looking to be the cream of the crop or at worst in the top 2, and I believe the national media is under-appreciating them thus far. But it's just a matter of time until someone beats them and in this conference outside the bottom 2-3 teams there's no shame in that. Once UM does lose I think the national media will hound them because they don't think UM is that good and they will be justified in their beliefs. That said the only thing UM can do is stay focused and win. Good things come to those who persevere. Illinois is for real. IU is still very good and very dangerous. Can we match up inside? TSIO can still give us fits on a good day. Minnesota looks to be for real. MSU will likely not beat us but wouldn't surprise me if they snag one. They still have talent. Outside these 5 teams I don't see anyone beating UM, but on an off-day anything can happen. |
| 29 weeks 5 days ago | Have had same injury |
I too have had the same injury, actually did it on the job. Hit my elbow extremely hard on a machine and ended up going to the emergency room and then seeing an elbow specialist. The only thing they could do for me was put a protective pad and brace around it, which limited my mobility and didn't really protect it much whenever I bumped it. You are correct in that the only way to treat it is time, it's very painful, you lose strength in your hand and arm plus its difficult to do simple tasks. The only other treatment that was mentioned was to go in and move the nerve to the interior of the arm but the dr said he couldn't garauntee it would fix the problem. In my case I have a bone spur on my elbow and that's what irritates the nerve. It did eventually go away but it took a long time and even to this day I cannot lean on that elbow and bumping it can bring instant pain. I cannot imagine being a football player like Denard with that injury. It's very difficult to say how much he will play the rest of the season. I imagine his ability to throw accurately will be severly tested and as we all know he's not entirely accurate when healthy. Didn't he have this injury last season? If this continues to be an issue they had better get Bellomy and the receivers a lot of rep time together. |
| 31 weeks 6 days ago | B1G or bust |
Michigan's top goal every year is and should always be to win the conference. Rankings don't matter, as long as you win the conference you will make a BCS bowl and have a shot at the NC most years. Not sure how it would shake out under the new system though. |
| 32 weeks 3 days ago | Current UofM long in the tooth |
The problem with doing current NFL UofM players is they're getting long in the tooth. Put a roster together 3-4 years ago minimum and we'd have a fairly good team. Now they would likely be a 3-6 game winner at best. Even on an all time we'd be thin at RB as few of our guys have had much success in the NFL, but with a great passing game that helps an average RB be better than they are. |
| 33 weeks 1 day ago | Twitter ban |
I thought Urban banned Ohio players from posting on Twitter?
Of course at one point they banned reporters from using it at his press conferences and the very next day rescinded that decision. |
| 43 weeks 5 days ago | Silver Lake is great |
I grew up in the Western Michigan area so have been to most of these beaches and I have to say that by far Silver Lake is the best even though its not part of Lake Michigan. The water is crystal clear due to the sand and you can go out quite a ways before it gets deep. Right off the lake are some great sand dunes as well and if you really want to hit Lake Michigan, Ludington isn't far away which I also highly recommend. I also like Grand Haven but as others say it does get awfully crowded there. But you can also go out to the peir and watch everyone taking their boats in and out plus there is a laser light show at night, at least there used to be. The atmosphere there if you like crowds is the best, but overall I'd take them in this order since I'm not a big crowd guy. Silver Lake, Ludington, Traverse City, Grand Haven, all the rest.
If you like lighthouses I know Ludington has one and as I recall Grand haven has one as well. Love walking out to them and seeing the power of the lake washing up against the walls. Anyplace you go will be sure to please. |
| 44 weeks 5 days ago | Anyone notice the investigation length |
They said this could take years, kind of like OJ finding the real killer. The longer it takes the more likely people will forget and it will all go away <sarcasm>. This is just plain ridiculous, had the report exonerated Paterno the family would have been giddy. Freeh has no ax to grind, is a former FBI director, I think that his ability to investigate and run an investigation are unquestionable. |
| 44 weeks 5 days ago | Thinking outside the box |
Instead of not allowing the football team to play for a year or more I thought of another punishment that might actually hurt PSU more and still allow the football team to compete. Would it be possible for the B1G to withold shared money from the BTN and bowl games for a year? Hit them where it really hurts, in the wallet.
Along with that hit them where their pride is, Joepa and football. Remove every win since 2001, any titles won, clean the slate like they never played. Lastly remove the statue, it's got to go and a shrine should be built to remember the victims. Instead PSU is doing it's best to remove the memory already with the plan to remodel the shower room. Disgusting. |
| 47 weeks 5 days ago | Are you kidding me? |
Back at that time there was no birth control so childbearing age would run fairly late. Not to mention the large families, which were quite common amongst farming families of the day even up to the WWII era. My grandmother for instance was the oldest of 16 kids. Even if my great-grandmother had her 1st at age 16 and one every 1.5 years thereafter, she would have been at least 40 when she stopped and there were a few gaps in there. Not to mention even in the 60's my wife was born when her parents were 45 and 42 respectively. So yes it is possible the woman parents were that old when they had her.
In my family my great-grandmother lived to be over 100. I still remember going to her house in G.R. and playing board games with her plus she had an outhouse for a bathroom with only indoor plumbing going to the kitchen sink. As I recall she was born in the 1880's. Many times I wish I had asked more questions of some of the older generations about the history of their lives and what they witnessed. |
| 1 year 5 days ago | Likely to happen this summer |
A college friend of mine is a blog writer for Clemson and he said things could get very interesting around July. His feeling is either join B12 or stay ACC. They would prefer SEC but that won't happen with South Carolina. |
| 1 year 2 weeks ago | What a crock |
That's all I can say. He's spinning his tale to make himself look better. He sold his stuff to keep his mom and sister from freezing and to pay the mortgage. That's wonderful, I applaud him for that. Question is how did they come up with money for the cars, to replace the engine in the Charger and the tats? That's the probelm Terrelle, you lived the high life all while claiming to be caring for your family. Maybe it was your lifestyle that caused mom not to be able to make the mortgage, ever think of that? |

Wow! I've been a UM fan for a long time now and I cannot remember another weekend as glorious and crazy as this one. Pure awesomeness!!! |

Living in enemy territory I heard all day Friday how we would lose to Ohio. Monday will be fun. That is all. |
| 1 year 13 weeks ago | Pinch me |
Holy muppets, someone pinch me! Must be in a dream because all this good doesn't happen to UM sports or at least hasn't in the past decade. It's great to be back to where we were, now lets stay there. |
| 1 year 22 weeks ago | Dick Tressel and Vrabel |
Isn't Dick Tressel recruiting as well? He's listed on Rivals as the recruiter tommy Schutt and Vrabel is listed for Spence. Sounds like both staffs are being used. |

| 1 year 25 weeks ago | Writing on the wall |
Urban saw the writing on the wall in the SEC. When he came in he was a hot young coach who obviously wanted a big job, took on a stocked Florida team vs a Notre Dame team that would have been a rebuild. Fast forward 6 years, Tebow has graduated, recruiting is not as good as it was, Florida is still king of the east but king of the SEC it is not. I think Urban looked at the landscape; Bama was back, LSU was finally established as a powerhouse, South Carolina and Arkansas were coming up and Tennessee was rebuilding. Urban realized at that point he needed a rebuild but couldn't stomach going through it, couldn't stomach losing, couldn't stomach selling fans on a rebuild. That's why he became sick and had to leave. Or it could be the grad assistant. |
| 1 year 41 weeks ago | Armature |
Actually armature is a word, it's a component of a starter. It's the part inside that's made mostly of copper wiring. |
| 1 year 44 weeks ago | Gene Smith not the brightest |
Gene Smith is not the brightest but this looks to be the usual type of Twitter chatter. Not much evidence here to support being dumb. Irregardless though, I wouldn't expect older guys like Smith to be all the tech savvy anyways.

| 1 year 45 weeks ago | There was color tv |
There was color tv back them, just most people still had black and white. Technology caught on a lot slower back then as people were less willing to mortgage everything just to keep up with the Jonses. Credit cards hadn't even been invented yet.
I was 4 months old when this game was played. Had never watched the game before now. |
| 1 year 45 weeks ago | LOIC |
I do believe that this could be the item that puts the LOIC nail in the coffin. That or whatever the ESPN lawsuit uncovers. Love how when one OSU story comes out a deluge follows shortly thereafter.
Rats, out of popcorn. |
| 1 year 45 weeks ago | OSU had $10K |
I was doing some reading today on the latest OSU troubles and I read that the OSU players actually got $10k. With the NCAA asking for the next 3 years tv schedule I see some very heavy hammering coming their way in a few weeks. |
| 1 year 45 weeks ago | Mascot? |
Mascot? We don't need no stinking mascot. What I do need though is that sweet pirate flag. Seriously, someone needs to slap that design on a flag and sell it in Brian's store, I'll take 5! |
| 1 year 45 weeks ago | Their contracts |
Like someone else mentioned, with all their contracts coming up soon the rates are undoubtedly going up too. They don't have the deep pockets their cometitors like Apple or Amazon have. Eventually I think they will fold or get bought pit by someone. |
