1 day 1 hour ago	OK, that's another thing	OK, that's another thing altogether, and certainly more important.     My point wasn't necessarily about Jones specifically, just the overall point.  It seems like OL height for recruits (and college players) is similar 40 times for other guys.  It seems that every OT at a major college is 6'6" or above, yet so many of the NFL guys are below that.  And it's not that the NFL wants shorter guys, it's just that a lot of those guys who are 6'6" as recruits and college players are actually 6'4.5" or so, and are listed as such on their NFL rosters.   So just how we shouldn't get upset when one of our CB recruits doesn't run a 4.5 when he's timed electronically, we should react similarly when an OL recruit comes up an inch or so shorter when measured at a camp.
1 day 1 hour ago	Yes, they've all been 6'6" or	Yes, they've all been 6'6" or above according to M's roster, but as you've pointed out yourself, those are usually exaggerated by an inch or more (as evidenced by the heights our guys are measured at for the draft and so on). So Jamarco Jones being measured at a legit 6'4" at a camp probably means he's actually as tall as the guys listed at 6'5" or 6'6" on our roster. That said, although wingspan is usually correlated to height, it can vary a ton. It's very realistic that one guy could be two inches shorter than another, but have a wingspan that is two inches longer, or more.

Once he adds 20 more pounds and spends another year taking reps, he'll be a lot different. He has all the tools and the frame, he just needs to add the bulk and the technique.

1 day 18 hours ago	I was thinking the same	I was thinking the same thing.  You sometimes here people say that if they get a terrible disease that they just want to be put out of their misery.  And some poeple just go ahead and do it.   My grandfather died of Parkinson's, but before he died, he spent about 10 shitty years alive.  Hard on him, maybe harder on my grandmother.  Had he known what he was really in for, I wouldn't be surprised if he had done the same.

1 day 19 hours ago	Not really.  Different kids'	Not really.  Different kids' hightlight videos emphasize different things.  Shane didn't show off "inhuman" accuracy in his highlights, but instead showed off his arm strength.  It's not like he had four minutes of hitting guys in stride.   Speight had lots and lots of throws where he fits a ball in perfectly.  Most QBs don't have highlight videos like that because they'd have to show the same 7 perfect throws over and over again.
1 day 20 hours ago	Yeah, I disagree with that as	Yeah, I disagree with that as well.  Not every OT is 6'6" (in fact most aren't) and he's a great OL prospect.  We have a lot of guys right now who could play OT or OG, and though Jones might end up a guard, his height will not keep him from playing tackle.  People put way too much emphasis on height for these guys, especially since (like 40 times) most of them are exaggerated by an inch or two.  Plus, not every 6'7" guy has longer arms than every 6'4" guy, and that's the important part anyway.
1 day 20 hours ago	I know the excitement dropped	I know the excitement dropped a lot on LTT because of his weight or how raw he is, but there's a reason every major program in the country offered him (Alabama, FSU, OSU, ND, USC to name a few).  He has the frame to get there.  He needs to put in a lot of work, but his attitude and the fact that he was able to drop so much weight before coming to campus, and the fact that he enrolled early suggests he could get there.   That said, no one should sleep on Magnuson either.  Between those two, I think we should be at least solid at LT for a while (and we'll be much better than that at every other OL spot).
