But the goal is to avoid impropriety, not the appearance of impropriety.

What evidence do you have that he was trying to impress Michigan?

Any reason you picked Fresno, specifically?
|15 hours 14 min ago||Yeah, I wouldn't call just||
Yeah, I wouldn't call just that a pattern. Especially since she had he same position at the previous school her son was at. That could simply be her wanting to perform her same duties at whichever school her son transferred to.
|15 hours 15 min ago||But there's nothing wrong||
But there's nothing wrong with making a hire that is recruiting-driven. Recruiting is a huge part of college football and every team hires recruiting personnel. Partridge's title was actually "recruiting coordinator." So of course it was recruiting-driven.

Speak for yourself. Some of us here are able to be objective.

Michigan has a pattern of hiring recruits parents?

Devin Bush is nowhere near a big enough recruit to warrant giving his dad a job he didn't deserve.
|16 hours 24 min ago||No, that's a coincidence.||
No, that's a coincidence. This is like hiring Partridge or the coaches from Prattville or St Eds. The fact that his son was on the team did not play a part in this. It's because he's a big time HS coach from a super talent rich area.

Are you asking us if catching a ball in a big game is better than not catching it? Because that's a post that probably doesn't need to be made.

12+ years of taking NFL hits is a lot different than 10 years olds running around bumping into each other.
|1 day 13 hours ago||If I'm going to pick a||
If I'm going to pick a freshman (other than Bush) at LB that I think could contribute this year, I'd pick Uche. He's a freak. That said, my guess is none of them, other than Bush, contribute much at all.
|1 day 13 hours ago||No, Michigan doesn't have a||
No, Michigan doesn't have a player on offense as good as McCaffrey. But probably have 4-5 players on defense better than their best player on defense. Football is a team game and every team has some holes to fill. Michigan just has fewer than most and is also returning more talent than most.
|1 day 13 hours ago||You don't have to discuss||
You don't have to discuss Bama - no one thinks we're better than them. It's just surprising that so many (not just you) have certain gripes about our team, yet rank teams with the same issues ahead of us. It's almost like some fans don't want to see us ranked high.
|1 day 16 hours ago||That's good. That way right||
That's good. That way right off the bat you specify whether your post is a "here's me giving you information" post or a "here's me posing a question to spur discussion" post. Both are good, it's just best to specify which it is up front.
|1 day 16 hours ago||We have to replace almost||
We have to replace almost nothing! Most of the other teams on there are replacing significantly more than us!
|1 day 16 hours ago||Let me sum up what you just||
Let me sum up what you just said and tell me if you think it makes sense:
"I don't think we're as good as Alabama yet. Therefore, instead of being ranked 2 spots below Alabama, I think we should be ranked 5-6 spots below them."
I'll help - it makes absolutely no sense.
|1 day 16 hours ago||Really Mbem Bosse? I think||
Really Mbem Bosse? I think he'll be good down the road but I highly doubt he sees the field much this year. He's extremely raw. I highly doubt he beats out guys like Wangler, Jones, Winovich or Furbush.
|1 day 16 hours ago||Boy aren't you mr skeptical.||
Boy aren't you mr skeptical. Stanford has McCaffrey, yes. But they lost the two OL he ran behind 75% of the time last year, they also lost their QB (with a much less certain replacement) and they lost much more defensive talent. Stanford has a lot more question marks than Michigan has.
|1 day 16 hours ago||I'm not suggesting he's not a||
I'm not suggesting he's not a question mark, I'm suggesting he's not a complete unknown. We have a decent idea of what we have with O'Korn because he's played college football before. There's lots of room between "complete unknown" and "returning starter." O'Korn falls somewhere in between.
|1 day 16 hours ago||Not even an opinion piece, it||
Not even an opinion piece, it was a question.
OP - if your post is a question, your title should be a question as well. It should be "Defensive Players Adjusting to Brown?"
|1 day 16 hours ago||I agree that's it's really||
I agree that's it's really fucking stupid to say to someone "here, go watch your favorite team play but you can't wear any of your team's gear." That's really fucking dumb. Is he afraid the camera might catch you or something? It's not like you won't be cheering for Michigan and I'm sure the camera will catch you doing that. Your friend is either a dick or a total pussy.
|1 day 16 hours ago||OK, but under that argument||
OK, but under that argument Chesson is also an unknown quantity because what if last year was a flash I the pan? Come on.
|1 day 16 hours ago||What, you think a bunch of||
What, you think a bunch of other teams aren't replacing anyone?
|1 day 16 hours ago||I disagree. My thoughts after||
I disagree. My thoughts after that game were that Alabama got beat down.
|1 day 16 hours ago||That's interesting||
That's interesting psychology, and my brain certainly doesn't work that way. These are independent events. Flipping heads 4 times in a row doesn't make you any more likely to flip tails. I guess I don't understand this thought process.
|1 day 16 hours ago||It's funny you knock us for||
It's funny you knock us for having a question mark at QB, yet you're ranking two teams ahead of us who also have a question mark at QB (Stanford and Alabama), one of which (Stanford) has far more additional question marks than we do.
|1 day 16 hours ago||I don't consider that an||
I don't consider that an unknown quantity. And unknown quantity is Malzone or Gentry. We have no idea what they'll look like on the field. We have a year and a half of game tape on O'Korn, we have the fact that Harbaugh hand picked him to transfer and we have a whole year of practice reps. That's a lot of knowledge. This is not a guy seeing a college field for the first time. They use the same sized football in AAC as they do in the Big Ten. He's not a 3-year returning starter, but he's certainly not an unknown quantity.
|1 day 16 hours ago||Rudock also only had fall||
Rudock also only had fall camp to work with Harbaugh and the staff before the season started. O'Korn had this entire season to get reps and now will have all spring plus fall camp to get first team reps. That's way more than Rudock had.
|1 day 17 hours ago||Ranking a team before they've||
Ranking a team before they've played is no more pointless than ranking a player before he shows up to college. But they do it, and it makes for interesting reading and discussion.
Fiction books are also "totally pointless" by that definition but I still like to read them.
