|2 days 16 hours ago||Exactly - at least a couple||
Exactly - at least a couple of our current commits won't be commits come February, some of whom we know about and some we don't. I bet we add 7 commits and lose 3 to end up at 25 on the nose.

Come on, the kid is from Ohio and they just won a national championship. It might be more of a red flag if it wasn't.

Avant had good speed, no is calling him slow. That said, pro day 40 times are notoriously off, so I would take that 4.45 with a grain of salt. Avant wasn't a speedster WR, he had other assets. No one is calling him slow, but he's not exactly "fast" compared to other good WRs either.
|2 days 16 hours ago||There's a difference between||
There's a difference between "what kind of player is he" or "what could he be" and "this is what I predict from him."
I wasn't suggesting he'll be as good as Jason Avant (though that's certainly within the realm of possibility) as much as saying what style of play he has. Avant was think and ran great routes. That's the type of player Hawkins is.
|2 days 17 hours ago||Apples and oranges, bud. One||
Apples and oranges, bud. One involves human beings and one involves animals. Some of us are just going to go on thinking that human lives are more important than animal lives.
|2 days 17 hours ago||I guess this bother some||
I guess this bother some people more than others. I would rather all animals be treated in a humane way, no doubt about it and I wish the lives of all pets went well (and ended well). But that's not the case in our world and I can accept that. Animals in the wild starve or are eaten alive or get weird diseases that slowly kill them. Pets lives are, on the whole, way better than wild animals, and the exceptions won't change my view on that.
I also like animals being slaughtered humanely, but I won't insist on it. If I go to STK and they lay a ribeye in front of me and say, "this cow was killed in a God-awful way" it won't change whether or not I eat the steak because I wouldn't have heard them over all my chewing.
|2 days 17 hours ago||This is a major stretch.||
This is a major stretch. People who are able to torture animals tend to have psychotic behavior, but not a person who simply views an animal as less important than a human.
I bought my son 3 fish a month ago. They are all now dead. I'm not excited about that, but I'm not losing sleep about it either. That doesn't make me a sociopath.
|2 days 17 hours ago||I also doubt that this class||
I also doubt that this class gets to a full 28. We re at 14 and 5 spots are very easily discernable. That's 19. After that you get into the QB stuff, the position switchers and the unpredictables and getting to 25 doesn't look so hard. We also might have a class of 2015 guy who doesn't make it through the season, which seems to happen more often than not.
|2 days 17 hours ago||10-13 guys who are on the||
10-13 guys who are on the team today won't be by February. I know your real question refers to the details of that, and if anyone knew, we would all know.
|2 days 17 hours ago||I don't think any of that||
I don't think any of that suggests that the coaching staff is giving up on anybody, but if there is a kid on the team that harbaugh wouldn't have recruited or who still isn't showing signs of being a D1 contributor, he's not going to see the field or get reps in practice and when that happens, the players usually make the call.
We do have great coaches, and they will do everything they can this fall. But they won't split their time equally with every player and there is only so much they can do for every player in one year. If a kid is in his 2nd or 3rd year this fall and the coaches aren't even considering him for PT, he might not want to wait another year. This happens every year with good and bad coaching staffs, and a little more often directly after a coaching change.
Also, statistically speaking, someone will get injured, someone will either get in trouble or flunk out or something, and somebody will leave that we didn't see coming kind of like Michael Ferns.

What? And let me guess, you think a rap artist is called a "rapper" and not a "rappist" too, huh? Weirdo.
|2 days 19 hours ago||I think that stuff is a||
I think that stuff is a little overrated. Running good routes, getting off your defender at the snap and winning close battles is way more valuable than just speed. Yeah, you want these guys to be fast. But so many of the great WRs at Michigan (and many other places) weren't super fast and still had tons of success. Who are the last 3 awesome WRs we've had? Manningham, Hemingway and Gallon. All three stretched the defense in different ways and were super successful. None of them were all that fast, in terms of WR speed.
|2 days 19 hours ago||I thought Avant as well based||
I thought Avant as well based on the description, but I'm pretty sure that's who Hemingway and Darboh were compared to so it's all the same. Hopefully he falls closer to Avant on that spectrum than Greg Mathews.
|2 days 19 hours ago||But that has nothing to do||
But that has nothing to do with getting under the 85 number.
Look - there is only so much Ace can do to explain that because if he knows something that isn't common knowledge yet he won't say it and if he doesn't he would just be speculating anyway. All that matters to us right now is if the coaches know, and they know much more than we do about who will be around a year from now. There's also the "normal attrition" amount that is unpredictible but almost always there.

I'm a huge fan of Joe and his site. Not only are his recipes delicious and totally doable for those like me who are (still inspiring) BBQ experts, but I bug him on Twitter all the time with questions and he always gets back to me or gives tips. I've mentioned it on here before, but his site is now a go-to for me when I want to get a little adventurous on the grill.
|2 days 22 hours ago||If I'm not mistaken, we're||
If I'm not mistaken, we're bringing in a catcher in this recruiting class who is a real slugger and is expected to start right off the bat. We might not have a ton of drop off there either.
|2 days 22 hours ago||That's huge news. Replacing||
That's huge news. Replacing Wagner was going to be a real challenge with this team, and neither Blanco nor the incoming frosh were likely to do it (next season). Having Driesenga back is huge because it allows the two younger pitchers to continue developing without being relied on for huge innings and it gives the team a solid second starter. Also, Driesenga swings a good bat, so that's a bonus as well.
I agree with you that 2016 could be better than 2015. Which is crazy.
|2 days 23 hours ago||Same here - the Santa Maria||
Same here - the Santa Maria rub I make for my tri tip is typically to hot for half of my guests, so cool it off depending on who's coming over.
Tomorrow I'm smoking a 5lb Boston Butt for pulled pork sandwiches. I got the recipe for them off mmmgoblubbq.com and it turns out awesome and juicy as hell. I throw out a bunch of different topping for the sandwiches (BBQ sauce, 1000 island, Franks red hot buffalo) and the buffalo sauce makes the best sammich, IMO.

Yes, we should all give up if he commits anywhere else.
|3 days 22 hours ago||Gary is such a huge priority.||
Gary is such a huge priority. Not only is he just an incredible player, but we didn't take any DTs last year and not only do we not have any committed this year, I don't know of any we even have a shot at. Unless Onwenu moves to defense, which wouldn't piss me off at all, especially if Terrence Davis ends up committing.
|3 days 22 hours ago||If you're going to include||
If you're going to include Terrence Davis, you should include Upshur as well because he's about as close to a verbal as you can be without actually being one. And don't forget Johnathon Jones as someone they need to be recruiting. He's a solid player and it would be nice to get him to actually drop here soon.
|3 days 22 hours ago||Even to this day there have||
Even to this day there have been very, very few football players who have come out of high school able to do what he did. You know how we would drool over track times for guys like Denard or Chesson? Now imagine of those guys were well over 200 pounds in high school doing that. That's super rare.
Except that it has happened again for Michigan, probably twice. Woodson and Peppers.
|3 days 23 hours ago||The bottom line is that show||
The bottom line is that show is Cowherd's job, so it's much more on him for the interview to go well than it is on Harbaugh. Cowherd has one of the lowest talent-to-success ratios in all of sports broadcasting and that showed here. He didn't give a shit, because he hasn't gotten to where he is by being good, he's gotten there by being polarizing and having people talk about him. He's not Bob Costas or Dan Patrick. In fact that interview going poorly probably benefitted him because it's stiff like that that gets people talking about Cowherd, not because of a great interview he did.
|3 days 23 hours ago||I agree about the BBQ threads||
I agree about the BBQ threads (though we've kinda had them before). No reason we can't turn our weekly BBQ tailgate threads into a general BBQ thread. I follow Joe on twitter, the guy from mmmgoblubbq, and he posts and retweets some good stuff, plus if you tweet at him with questions, as I do since I'm a somewhat experiences but not super experienced BBQer, he's always really good about getting back to you.
|4 days 26 min ago||Not a brisket, but I'll be||
Not a brisket, but I'll be smoking a Boston Butt to make pulled pork sandwiches. I use the recipe on mmmgoblubbq.com, the guy who does the tailgating recipes on the front page here during football season. I've done it twice before and it has turned out great both times.
|4 days 14 hours ago||I watched most of this||
I watched most of this earlier, it was hysterical. Right off the bat I was laughing way harder than I expected.
|4 days 14 hours ago||Dude if Utah's favored by 3||
Dude if Utah's favored by 3 points that's easy money. We're gonna beat the shit out of them. Yeah, they're a solid team, but we are returning a ton of talent and if this staff is half of what they purport to me then we're going to trounce them. Utah will be "solid" but that's about their ceiling. That's where they were last year and they have to replace a decent amount of talent as well as an entirely new coaching staff.
We will knock them out them kick them in the butthole.
|4 days 20 hours ago||They bye/buy question was||
They bye/buy question was awful and also confused me for a bit. It's like he tried to ask that in the oddest way possible. Using the word "buy" as a noun in that context is just stupid unless you're on a stock market show. Had he said "I'm buying the Big Ten because I see them on the upswing going forward, what do you think of that?" would have been more clear. Though Harbaugh's answer still would have been "yeah I agree."
|4 days 20 hours ago||Agreed. It's possible||
Agreed. It's possible Wheatley is the fastest player to ever play at Michigan, any position. Just insane speed. People look at Wheatley and think he's a big power back who had wheels, but he was an elite speed back who happened to be 235 pounds.
|4 days 20 hours ago||I just listened to it as||
I just listened to it as well. I don't fault Cowherd, he was his typical self, maybe even less obnoxious. He didn't ask anything unfair. Jim Harbaugh was also his typical self, which is not a good interview. I'm not sure why Harbaugh thought it would be any different and the same goes for Colin, but I don't get why Harbaugh accepts those interviews if he doesn't want to participate. Maybe he's being forced to and no he goes back to SID and says, "still want to make me do those?" Who knows.
Either way, that was pretty brutal and certainly doesn't make Michigan or Harbaugh look good, though I'm sure Harbaugh could give a shit about that. He's much more in the Pipovich or Belichick mold in terms of coaching. Which is OK by me.
