Yep, I was at that game. A high school junior at the time and I was a huge fan of Harbaugh and Jamie Morris. Don’t remember much about the game but I sure loved being on vacation in Arizona with my family.
Like all analytics, and at the end of the day, the SP+ model is only as good as the data available. We're only three games in and haven't played anyone who provides a significant challenge.
Efficiency is weighted heavily in SP+ and we have been incredibly efficient. Many big plays and no turnovers. The predictive success rate is heavily based on efficiency - and thats us (at the moment).
But like others have said, we're passing the eye test...coaching looks incredibly competent, we're finishing and not making stupid mistakes.
But most importantly, I'm actually looking forward to each week with excitement and anticipation!
Not only do I want to see it, I think we will see it in our first possession....A bomb to one of the receivers - hopefully Roman Wilson on a Fly Route!
I think your description of the current state of both institutions and programs is probably right.
The culture in America is changing and people's attitudes, expectations and morals are changing as well. I want to beat Ohio State...not because they are simply a rival...but for all the reasons you describe.
But not at any cost (as some here argue). Call me a snob or suggest I have pretend dignity, but character and class count for me. And Ohio State (and my own relatives in C-bus) just dont have it.
Some will say I'm accepting less so that I can personally justify losses to Ohio State.

I was THRILLED when Harbaugh became our coach and our leader. He returned the pride that we were missing. He's real, he's honest, he's fiery and he represents honesty,class and dignity....and he's a hell of a great coach.
Call me a loser....but I told my wife when he was hired that I will be okay with 10-2 every year as long as he represents our INSTITUTION which I belong to.
You couldn't pay me to sacrifice my soul and turn to the dark side.
OSU may often win, but they still won't measure up to Michigan.
For me, its more than just football.....I'd rather be an American than a Bolivian.....
