Sometimes I feel like death is too kind of a fate for people that are capable of monstrosities of this caliber.

Exactly, Michigan, OSU, and to some extent Penn State have nothing to worry about. They would be accepted with open arms into any of the major conferences.

We came into the season ranked 4th in the nation. We were justified in believing that this was a squad that could contend for, if not win, a national championship. Instead, we saw us lose a few more times than we would have likes. Some were hard fought games where we got some bad bounces. Others were like today, where the intensity, intelligence, and effort just wasn't showing.



To watch our team get out hustled and out played by a team that is flat out less talented than ours is a definite cause of concern. Anyone genuinely worried that this team can't win it all is not a "fake fan" or whatever it is you believe. I am truly distraught that even with the best player we've had in 20 years, along with a bounty of hyper athletic players we are capable of shitting the bed like today.



Your attitude baffles me, the wait till tomorrow approach doesn't really work in college basketball when players can go pro on a whim. If the time to hope for the grand prize is not now, when? When Trey and GR3 leave? When Timmy graduates? But hey, we have our schemes progressing at a satisfactory trajectory!



That being said, I haven't lost all hope. I still think this team can make some noise next week, there is just too much ability to think otherwise. Unfortunately, what I saw today really made me rethink if my expectations for this season were realistic to begin with.

The real thrill is knowing every single person at work (including your boss) is watching the games, but nobody really acknowledges it. 

Until every says f*ck it and heads to the nearest sports bar at 3pm.

Well, Michigan is among his top 10 and he is a 5 star both on Scout and Rivals... so I guess my answer is yes, we should care. Especially when Ohio is firmly in the mix as well.

Thanks, Tripp. I am assuming you actually are Tripp Welborne because I can't even comprehend the douchitude required to impersonate a solid to above average Wolverine defensive back from the 80's. 

I'm sorry, but I just don't see a kid who has yet to sign a letter of intent or is not yet in any way officially affiliated with the University of Michigan making any sort of announcement concering UM facilities, game schedules, or any matters that you would generally hear about from DB or Hoke directly.

In all likelihood, it probably has to do with with having a recruits/commits only get together later on in the process.

Wouldn't it be hilarious and awesome and justified and all good things if Robert Nkemdiche or Von Bell showed up to these dweebs'/wesels' houses and said quite simply, "Say that to my face"?

Penn State officials, fans, and alumni are absolutely delusional. It all boils down to the fact that Joe Paterno was effectively the most powerful man on campus, not the President or Trustees or anyone. Saying he did his job by reporting up the stream is a joke. Anyone who doesn't believe that Joe Paterno had the power get a proper investigation going just hasn't been paying attention to college football the past 20 years.

Scraping out a living in Europe? Yea it might not be NBA money, but these guys make hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not bad if you ask me.

I think it has to help. The hardest part is staying relevant. When you constantly hear a school's name over and over, its bound factor into the decision making process. And I don't think it necessarily matters that both teams need to be consistently killing it. Sure, winning helps, but half the battle can often be getting someone to remember your name.

Just speaking from an emotional perspective, I really cannot stomach it when either Ohio or MSU beat us in anything. Those are our only true rivalries in my opinion.

I really feel sad about the direction this country is going in. Pretty soon all children will be required to wear helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads throughout the school day so as to prevent unnecessary boo-boos. Then they will all get gold stars to let them know that everyone in class tied for #1 student in the class. In theory, it sounds quite nice, but the problem is we live in REALITY. Really setting our kids up for an unpleasant wakeup call 20 years down the road.

Maybe this was Hoke & Co's grand plan all along. Lock up a qb every year that has the greatest potential as a....RECRUITER!

This is a 16 year old young man. To live and die by his every word is an absolute exercise in futility. If he comes to Michigan, he will thrive. If he doesn't, all the best, let's hope he reaches his potential elsewhere. 

Michigan is a special place, but it isn't the only place. Part of the specialty is that the people here are all-in. Just look at this website as evidence, I am unsure any school has a privately run blog that paralells the readership, awareness, and loyalty the boards here demonstrate.

My point is this, Michigan is Michigan because the people who buy in (commits, players, and fans alike) are not casual - they are lifers. However, to assume that a 16 year old (a child, in my opinion) is going to demonstrate this zeal ALL OF THE TIME is an unrealistic way to go about life. He has to live it first.

This is why I love the pre-signing camradarie - it is cultivating the lifer mindset before the commitments become contract.

I read on a Scout board that there were rumblings in Ohio about Joey Bosa cancelling his trip to A2 in order to spend more time in Columbus. Is there anybody that can substantiate or refute this rumor?

I am glad you weren't on the coaching staff at Oklahoma when they decided to offer this kid Blake Griffin even though older brother Taylor wasn't a megastar.

Personally, I find it absurd that so many people get on their soap box and start preaching about how "this is Michigan", and that somehow Trey Burke owes us all something. I find this line of reasoning absolutely ridiculous. The only people Trey Burkes owes are his family and himself. I am assuming like most college athlethes (and students in general), that he does not come from the land of plenty.

No doubt, he is one of the most electrifying point guards in the country. As such, he is going to garner attention from the NBA, a dream for most NCAA basketball players. If he is told he is going to be drafted in the first round, he will be compensated with a guaranteed rookie contract worth at least a few millions dollars. That is financial security for life, not only for himself, but for his family. Yet somehow, he is selfish and has a higher duty bestowed by baby Jesus himself to make sure he plays four years for Michigan.

My point is, support him. We cannot understand his perspective because the prospect of millions of dollars dangling is just not real. After our freshman years, if we were told that we have a job waiting for us if we leave right now guaranteeing us at least a few million no matter what happens, do we turn it down? I say HELL NO, because I personally can aways go back to school after I have given myself financial security for life. 

Plus, it takes only one awkward jump and landing to tear an ACL, and destroy his chance at ensuring he and his family will be taken care of forever.
