“On the offense last year, they had great spacing. That’s what I remember. Great spacing, great shooters, like Nik Stauskas, who’s not there right now. But they always have someone to fill the roles. They have a cutting offense, kind of hard to guard.”

I don't see where he even hinted at cutting a kid's scholarship. But maybe prepare (through recruiting) so that he never has to see the field again until the last snap of the last game of his senior year?

The second option would be to sear, then rest for 10 minutes to allow heat to dissipate, then place on indirect heat until reaching desired temp, then rest again.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||The rationale for searing||
The rationale for searing right before the meat has hit ideal internal temp is that a good sear happens at 500+ degrees. Which means there is a lot of intense heat raising the interal temperature very quickly but not evenly. If I start my steak at 500 and move to 300 there is going to be more risidual heat on the outer portion of the steak but that heat won't necessarily have moved inside. So you won't get even distribution and if you aren't very careful the outer half of your steak will be well done while the interior is medium rare. If you do the sear at the end of the cook you can pull the meat off the heat which allows you to halt (well at least slow down relatively quickly) the cooking process.

I don't think most people here are going to begrudge anyone for getting theirs. It's just that in no other sport does a head coach make approximately 30X as much as the most highly compensated player (legitimately compensated). So the head shaking doesn't have as much to do with him making that much but rather making that much in a system where those in charge claim the players are more then adequately "paid" for their 60 hour work week then turn around and dump wheel barrels full of cash in front of AD's, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Recruiters, Trainers, you get the point right?
It's not like the conferences are getting the shaft on TV revenue either, they own the damn networks. So this is just another example of how flush with cash athletic departments are and how they have to find excuses to piss away the revenue while they cry about amateurism and how fearful they are that they will corrupt the innocent kids.

But why would you think he would have a substance abuse problem because he tested positive for pot? I don't smoke the stuff and comments like this make me shake my head. This is 2014 right? If he got caught drinking a beer you wouldn't automatically worry that he was an alcoholic would you?

Opening day 97 we sat in the center field bleachers. Grffey flipped us off everytime he took the field, hit a bomb right at us in the middle innings and continued to talk mad shit the rest of the game.

Bizarre sounds about right to me. I don't get it at all, you hear nothing out of the kid but his parents seem to be plastering their differences all over the recruiting sites. It's to the point where I'd rather he go to state if that's what he really wants then have his parents force him to choose Michigan.

I'm with you 100% on this one but I'm afraid we are in the minority. I've always argued these same points to people who think a playoff is necessary for college football. The last two teams out are always going to have a beef, look at the NCAA bball tourney.

Shane was warming up after the fumble by Gardner was upheld. I re watched this the other day and it seemed like Gardner was O.K. Because he had his headset on.

The fans here are becoming accustomed to winning. They are more tolerant because they don't see a threat either, and with good reason. The little brother meme died on its own last Saturday. Mike Harts reality and this current one aren't the same unfortunately.

And just like a high school sometimes the readers of this blog feel they are untitled to voice their opinions as loudly as they can with no repercussions. There really is this belief that an open forum provides some free speech right, no matter how harmful that speech might be to the overall product. I think this blog would be better served sometimes with just a comment section after the front page content instead of a dedicated forum which grants every dickhead with an opinion a platform to rabble rabble rabble.

Florida does not qualify as the deep south. Once you cross over the Georgia border you are back in the north somehow.

So that's why the Lions took Stanton over David Harris when they needed LB help and moved up in the second round a few years back. It all makes sense to me know.
But I agree with your point 100%. Nothing the Lions have ever done should be used to prove any sort of point ever.

|1 year 16 weeks ago||Yeah not so sure. Griese||
Yeah not so sure. Griese must have used the "don't you know who I am?" line a lot. I've personally heard it even after his college playing days were over. He was drunk and belligerent at the time so who knows must have been his "go to" phrase.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||I'm sure he's not going to||
I'm sure he's not going to admit that they royally screwed up allowing a legacy recruit who is also going to be a lottery pick to end up elsewhere. But can you really see us winning a head-to-head battle for a five star legacy recruit against Purdue at that time (because ultimately that is the talent level he ended up at)? I find that version of events harder to swallow then the one Matt Painter has stated.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||No, but Matt Painter said||
No, but Matt Painter said that. I'm sure Purdue would like to have a mulligan, but it appears they felt like their priorities needed to be elsewhere in that class at least early on. Basketball classes are so small if you make commitments early on it might close the door on a late blossoming, in state recruit. I don't have a problem accepting that this is what happened.

Yeah just a personal preference and quirk. I do however love throwing a can in the food processor with an onion, garlic, and fresh lime juice and marinating my chicken overnight.

Nothing wrong with it, I love it in certain applications. But I really like to control the ingredients in my rub and sauce which is why I use whole dried chiles (better flavor and no added ingredients). I think most commercial adobo is tomato, vinegar, garlic, and "spices", so I guess in would rather add those items in controlled amounts. Also dried chiles are easier for me because I always end up needing to strain any sauce using fresh chiles so I can remove and chunks.

I do a few different sauces, depending on the type of meat. Some ingredients I've had success with are chipotles(don't like to use any of the adobo sauce just the pepper good smokiness, or if you can find smoked dried peppers even better), dark unsweetened cocoa powder, or orange soda. I did an orange soda BBQ sauce made with old fashioned orange soda, habeneros, and sage that was out of this world on smoked chicken quarters. Also if you don't already grind your own chile peppers, you should. This will be the biggest difference maker for flavor profile in your sauce since you can create your own blend.

92 NCAA run the win against UCLA coming from17 or 18 down in the second half is the only thing that comes close for me. I think Jimmy King had a late tip in of a Rose miss. Didn't have the same late game heroics but comeback was improbable

I'm curious to see how Minny looks tonight. I think they are better served getting out of the big ten regular season and will give Florida a challenge (I can hope at least, right?).
|1 year 30 weeks ago||So I know it's just a few||
So I know it's just a few tourney games but I can't help but think the officiating in the big ten really aided OSU and Wiscy. Craft going for a steal on lucious and getting called for a foul seems like a good example. He clearly put his shoulder into his mans chest but Craft doesn't get why the contact is being called. OSU's offense seems incapable of beating a quality opponent the way these games are bring called.

I don't really cheer for OSU and msu in bowl games, but it is embarrassing when the conference looks like crap. I would prefer OSU win this game but not make it to the championship. To me a bowl game and second round tourney match up are not equal.
