I think what the poster was…

I think what the poster was saying was, once Paye and Hutchinson are gone, Upshaw will himself step up and be a decent replacement--not that Upshaw is going to exceed what Paye and/or Hutchinson provide.  Those guys are legit potential All-Americans so it's going to be hard to replace them for sure.

Lander goes to a local high…

Lander goes to a local high school where I live and I was talking with one of his teammates dad's last week.  From what he was saying, there is a good chance that he ends up at Michigan, but wants to get more familiar with Juwan and the staff.  Caveat: it was also said that he's waiting for a Duke offer--not necessarily that he wants to go to Duke, but will see if he can get one.

I'll be trying to catch a game or two to see him in action that's for sure!

This is an awesome gesture! …

This is an awesome gesture!  Thanks for the opportunity.  I'd love to take my son to a game at the big house--he's 9 and really started getting excited about Michigan over the past year.  This would be his first game and would probably fuel more fandom out of him.

I think that's reasonable…

I think that's reasonable Bluey. I'm sure Washington will keep in close contact and be encouraging him to make his way back up for the BBQ at the Big House.  That's typically at the end of July, correct?  Make a strong push for his attendance there and things could heat up.

Belgium putting pressure on Panama early but shots are not on target at all.

Not surprising a 4* kid from…

Not surprising a 4* kid from KS would go to Oklahoma.  Good program, close to home so family can visit and watch him play.  I think we'll be fine with the guys we have at DE this class!

Man, you hate to see a kid…

Man, you hate to see a kid waste talent like that.  I know there is a MAJOR time commitment (almost no life outside football), but they have tutors and study groups.  As a former student athlete in college (not Div. 1), I know coaches are monitoring things. According to his profile he's majoring in Psychology--which wouldn't seem extremely hard (as compared to engineering lets say).

Currently, Peters is…

Currently, Peters is probably a little ahead of McCaffrey due to having the in-game experience from last year.  Practice is great, but there is no substitute for actual in game experience to adjust to the speed of the game, etc.  Peters has that experience.

I'd love to see McCaffrey continue to push Peters (this is Patterson's team this year by all indications) and have a great competition for the starting job in 2019.  Hopefully 2018 allows for more in game experience for both (because we're winning by a large margin!).

Will definitely be following…

Will definitely be following.  Interested to see how Messi and Ronaldo will do and will be pulling for Belgium.  Iceland's inaugural campaign will be something I follow as well and I'm looking forward to getting my son more into the beautiful game.

87-81 Michigan Wins

Michigan falls behind by 5-7 points early because Moe gets some ticky tack fouls and is on the bench for 10 minutes in the first half.

He plays smarter in the 2nd half while Wilson and Walton go off, and Zak has about 15 2nd half points and we are up 10 with about 4 minutes remaining.  The last minute and a half we are shooting free throws to ice the game.

Atmosphere was electric!

I don't know if UMChick took everyone's advice, but I did.  Bought my tickets on Saturday night and woke my soon to be 8 year old son up at 5am for his first Michigan basketball game.

We drove to Indy and had a blast.  To watch that game in the stadium was a great experience for him and he's hooked.  He already asked to go next year!  Throw in the fact that we got to see the WSU vs. UK game and get home for dinner it was definitely worth the experience.

Southern IN

I actually live in Southern IN (hence the 812 in my username) and have family from the deep south--Atlanta area currently and Savannah, GA--I wouldn't say that this area is particularly worse but there is far more covert racism in this area.  In the deep south (especially more rural areas) it is accepted or common place to find someone spewing racist remarks.

Regarding what a previous poster mentioned regarding the KKK, there was a rally about 20 years ago in the town I went to high school in.  I found most of my classmates found the idea of this happening in our hometown to be abhorrent.

Just coming from a guy living in the area.

Prayers for your wife

Sending prayers!  We lost a very dear friend 3 years ago to his third battle with cancer and it wrenches my heart every time I think about the impact he made on our community with how he fought but that he can no longer be with his family,

Keep Fighting!  Thoughts and prayers to you, your wife, and the medical staff performing the surgery.

Good News!

Glad this dude is progressing--going to need him for the big games (not that Wisconsin this week isn't big).  Good cautious approach from a coaching staff who understand where our team is and where this guy is in his rehab.

Will be good to have him back most likely after the bye and for the big matchup with MSU.

I read that at my desk at

I read that at my desk at work...lets just say there may have been some dust in my eye if anyone walked in.

Will be looking for #41 in future games and hopefully he can get an opportunity to get a touchdown when we are running the fullback dive!

2 Questions

2 Questions regarding recruits we seem to have a good shot with:

1) How realistic is it to think we'll see all of DPJ, Collins, Black, and Martin?

2) How does the recent ACL tear on Drew Singleton impact his recruitment in your estimation?  We'll still go hard after him, correct?

Thanks for the weekly recruiting updates!

Man that stinks for Drew.  As

Man that stinks for Drew.  As others have stated, hopefully he can EE and get in with the training staff--get some good hands on rehab.  I had a friend tear her ACL her senior year--tough recovery but things have really improved in that area over the past 10-15 years.

Attack the rehab with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!

37-17 Michigan Wins

Probably already taken, but I'm going with it anyway!

Michigan 37

Colorado 17

The Buffs score 10 in the 4th quarter when we pull the starters.  GO BLUE!

Third Verse

I was completely unaware of the third verse to the Star Spangled Banner.  Interesting read.

I hope it can be said that we can disagree fervently while being able to defend another person's right and ability to state their convictions.  John with the Voltaire quote spoke directly to how we should view this national discussion.  I used to tell my classes that very quote every year.

Sleep in clothes???
Or

Sleep in clothes???

Or possibly wishful thinking...For me it would be the latter.

Turn Taking

I'm with you stephenrjking.  We just had our fourth in July.

Eventually my oldest son and I are going to make a trip to Ann Arbor and catch a game.  My wife and I have done it once, and there could be a time I chance it with two of the kids at once, but I think having the one on one experience with each kid makes for a better experience for all.

Love the family, and it's crazy most of the time, but as my wife told me a few days ago, there's no one else I'd rather do crazy with.

Clemson/Auburn

I'd say Clemson vs. Auburn should be a pretty interesting game---Clemson wins, but will be worth watching.

amazing

I hope to some day be able to do something as efficiently as that guy--impressive!

Georgia, Alabama, and Oregon

I've always rooted for Georgia, especially under Richt.  Dude ran a clean program (as far as most can tell) and genuinely seemed like he wanted what was best for his players.

Bama more recently (have a brother and sister-in-law who graduated there, and a niece attending this fall)--the success they've had recently is deserving of respect--even if I don't like it!

Oregonliked their style of play under Chip Kelly--uniforms are hideous but dang are they fun to watch!  Sister graduated from here as well so the family ties are there.

Sumlin

Sumlin has had his fair share of issue at Texas A&M.  It's a step up from Hazell for sure, but I'm not sure that Sumlin takes Purdue into the upper echelon of the Big 10.

Perfect Spot In My Office

I have a perfect spot in my office for this!   Living amongst the Hoosier/Irish fans, this will go perfectly with the other Michigan gear in the office.

Meh

I can live with this.  As another poster said above, nobody complained until it was specified, so probably no big deal.

Michigan 45- Rutgers 6

Good guys win!
