Here's a bummer. I've got no popcorn on hand for the 1:30 press conference.

I suggest you find a different school's athletic department to ruin. We will be fine without you.
Have a nice life.

Brian, if this is a Halloween prank, it's the cruelest Halloween prank in history.
If you're serious, all I have to say is, WAHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What we have learned over the years is it's Indiana's offense that causes worry.
They are good at torching our defense. In our last 3 meetings, this is what they have done to the Michigan defense.
2009: 467 yards of total offense (197 rushing, 270 passing) and one piece of gum thrown by Bill Lynch.
2010: 574 yards of total offense (297 rushing, 277 passing) and 41 minutes in time of possession.
2013: 572 yards of total offense (410 passing, 162 rushing) converting 9 of their 14 3rd downs and scoring 47 points, which is the most points IU has scored in a game against Michigan in the series history.
That is the trend now. I'd like to say this weekend could be different but...you've seen the team play this year.

I've had only one encounter with Brandon. The first time I ever attended a Michigan baseball game in 2013 against Nebraska. Walking into the stadium with a coke, this guy in a suit talking on his cell phone knocks my shoulder from behind making me spill half the drink. I turn to give him a dirty look and I notice its Dave Brandon...who doesn't acknowledge me and keeps on walking inside the stadium.

Loved the reminder that there's just 4 games left. You lose track when you've wanted your season to be over since week 2.

Not exactly. He was given a one year leave of absence to "get himself together," but chose to resign instead.

Indeed. Even today, I have to google his picture to remember what he looked like.
The only thing I really remember about him was the halo drama and then participating in the email campaigns to get it taken down.
In regards to Ellerbe, he kind of pulled a Brady Hoke in having a good first season. The basketball team had quailty wins over #1 Duke, Syracuse, Indiana, MSU, and ended up 25-7. I don't think it was until the following year when the sh*t hit the fan about the Martin saga and by then, the interim lable had already been removed.
|5 days 20 hours ago||Next week, it will have been||
Next week, it will have been ten years since Florida fired Ron Zook. He was considered a clown, a disaster of a coach (who ironically had a much better record against UF's rivals than Hoke has had against our rivals). I believe it happened after Florida had lost 38-31 to Mississippi State, who had lost to 1-AA Maine earlier in the season. UF wasted no time in canning him even though there were 4 games left in the season plus the bowl game. Despite getting fired, Zook still coached the team through those final 5 games while the school looked for a new coach, eventually ending up with Urban Meyer.
Is there any way the same could be done with Hoke? Or was that a rare thing that happened at Florida? Can't Hoke be fired tomorrow and still have him finish the season, provided he wants to? Not having to wait until Thanksgiving to know it's official really would give us some semblance of happiness.

I hear ya. This is the first time since 1996 that I didn't even bother recording the game.
I didn't even get home until halftime and barely checked the score in the first half. Several years ago, I never would have done that.
That's what Michigan fans have been reduced to now. We're dead inside. There's never anything to look forward to.

I miss the days where the main thing we got fired up about was Lloyd Carr getting 9-3 seasons out of 11-1 talent.
|5 days 23 hours ago||Any team that had a pulse||
Any team that had a pulse torched our defense. The 2010 D gave up an average of 39 points a game and the most season points in the history of Michigan football.
Even crappy teams like Illinois, who couldnt beat Western and didn't make a bowl put up 38 points, 45 points and 65 points in three overtimes against us.
And against non-MAC schools, our high powered offense couldn't do shit.

I remember Terry Bowden resigning 5 games into the season when he coached Auburn so it's not like it's never happened before.

MSU fired Bobby Williams after the 49-3 game at the big house, the first week of November. We can do the same to Hoke now the last week of October.
But I don't see it happening.

The pass to Craig Dunaway that set up a TD. In the movie, they edited in a different shot of a ref calling clipping to make it look like that play was called back. Then Jeff Goldblum's character throws his popcorn at the TV screen and says, "Come on, blue. You're not supposed to fold until the 4th quarter." And then another guy responds, "Leave Bo alone. He's got enough to worry about."
In an interview about that movie, the director says the original ending had a flashback scene to the group of friends when they were students at U of M, I think it involved Thanksgiving. The scene was shot but eventually cut and it wasn't added to the bonus features on the DVD.

*SIGH* 1996 OSU. I was in high school at the time and I had not yet become a pessimist when it came to sports. So when we were down 9-0 at halftime, there were no thoughts of doom and gloom. I knew we could come back and win. Then the second or third play of the 3rd quarter, Ty Streets takes that short pass to the house and at that moment, I felt we were going to come back and win.
Today, if Michigan is down 9 points, I've got no hope for a win.

Stanton referred to us the following season as the University of Puke, which is pretty much the equivalent of calling someone a doo-doo head. He was never smart enough to really get angry at.

Remember when we called that year the season of infinite pain? I called for Jim Herrman's head after game one.
|1 week 2 days ago||I was at that game. Watching||
I was at that game. Watching the offense was nice but the defense...good GOD. I had thought the days of the defense getting torched by Indiana was over with RichRod gone but nope. This was worse. IU continuously went down the field on our D with ease. Touchdown drives of 3 plays, 5 plays, 2 plays, it was disgusting.
|1 week 4 days ago||This board was scared to||
This board was scared to death after seeing how awful the offensive line looked in that night scrimmage in August and then everyone was jacked after we beat App State. I think 95% of the posters here predicted us to win big in South Bend.
Don't be so hard on yourself. You're certainly not the only guilty party in this area.
|1 week 4 days ago||I'm probably going to make||
I'm probably going to make you feel worse but here goes.
1. MSU's teams in 1978, 1990 and 1999 actually ended up being good squads.
2. Yeah, they got away with mugging Desmond on the 2 point conversion in 1990, the ref gave them a bogus extra yard on their game winning drive when we had stopped them on 4th down in 1995 and Spartan Bob gave them the extra second and the ref decided to ignore the massive holding on the game winning play in 2001...all painful blown calls that screwed us but for the rest of those games, those MSU teams put up fights that Hoke teams are completely incapable of putting up, especially the last two years, especially on the road.
3. MSU's teams in 93, 95 and 2001 stunk but they weren't the train wreck we currently are. Those teams were 6-6, 6-5-1 and 7-5. Do you see us winning 6 games this year because I certainly don't.
4. Harbaugh broke his arm in 1984 in the first half. Once he was out, that win was in the bag for MSU. Conner Cook isn't going to break any bones.
5. And being a Michigan fan means knowing that Michigan should never be the underdog in this series, as we weren't for 45 years. Now we're at the point where the majority of us believe we can't stay within 4 touchdowns of MSU. How fucking depressing is that?

East Lansing in 1985, we won 31-0 but still left about 17 points on the field with a missed field goal and two interceptions thrown by Harbaugh when we were going in for scores.
Still a nice win. A recap about this game in the Detroit News started with this...
"Spotting the University of Michigan two touchdowns is like giving Carl Lewis a 20-yard head start."
I miss the days of us being Carl Lewis. Today, we're more like a middle school kid running cross country but stopping every 30 feet to use our asthma inhalers.

George Perles' first year as head coach in East Lansing. He told the story of how he and Bo chatted before the start of this game at midfield. It started like this.
PERLES: I have to tell you Bo, I'm really nervous.
BO: You should be.
