I flicked the radio on after TD's because of the delay and then listened to the post game recap. I thought they were OK. It takes a little getting used to because Brandy has been the color guy forever and Frank Beckman is the guy I associate the words, "Touchdown Michigan!" with. I like both guys so much though that I enjoy listening to them talk about anything.
I'm not sure how much my opinion matters considering I actually like Matt Shepard's broadcasts for the basketball games and I think I'm the only one on the planet that doesn't hate Brent Musberger.

They always worry me, especially in that stadium where crazy, stupid and flukey things always seem to go their way.

Time to be the wet blanket.
It was the first game of the season. That's the reason it was mostly full on time. Any other noon start would not look like that...which is why I always hope for 3:30 home games now.
Wet blanket out.

Thought Bama should have been flagged for a late hit on their interception but instead, holding against WVU, naturally.

Saban can't be happy with this so far. He pays his recruits to play much better than this.
|2 days 14 hours ago||I don't care if the talent||
I don't care if the talent level isn't the same. Speaking as someone who had a 2nd row seat to witness the blocked field goal for The Horror, this felt good.
Almost all my hopes were satisfied for this game: No interceptions by Gardner, offensive line actually opening up holes for the running backs, intensity on defense. Only thing that pissed me off was that 97 yard drive against the second stringers. But it's nice that's the main thing that annoyed me. It would have been nice to see another receiver step up besides Funches but there were only 14 passes so I'll live.
Hopefully Peppers is alright. I liked what I saw from him in the first quarter.

Jessie Palmer just said SEC teams don't do that. They get recruited to play in their systems and not come out early even when they're up big. Then he said, "When I was at Florida and we were up 60 in the 4th quarter, we never pulled our starters and I always stayed in."
Blah, blah, blah, SEC greatest ever in the history of the universe, blah, blah, blah.

I'll bet the UCLA message boards would be hilarious to read right now.
I love any bad publicity for USC. After what they were able to get away with for so long under Pete Carroll, they deserve embarrassing stories like this.
But don't worry, Trojans. I'll still root for you when you play Notre Dame.

The Big Ten had a history of doing this in the 70's / early 80's and then again in the mid 90's. When I was in high school, Michigan always seemed to be opening the season against Illinois.
|4 days 16 hours ago||ESPN covered that story to||
ESPN covered that story to the point of madness too because they lusted after anything Pete Carroll related. I thought it was stupid.
|5 days 10 hours ago||I know it's of little comfort||
I know it's of little comfort but Beth really is better than Pam Ward. Watch highlights from the 49-3 game over Sparty from 2002 and listen to Ward say, "touchdown Michigan," in that painfully bland, monotone voice and it doesn't get any worse than that.

Hopefully we're not subjected to any more red football fields.

I'm sure it's times like these that Trojan fans miss Pete Carroll with his sweep, sweep, sweep.

No more legends numbers switches and patches.
No matter how much I see it, I can't get used to seeing Gardner wear 98.
|5 days 18 hours ago||I was 5 and it ended up going||
I was 5 and it ended up going alright. But I didn't understand the rules of football at that age yet. So I just cheered when everyone else cheered. (Michigan won 47-0 that day so there was lots of cheering.)
At that age, the sight of 100,000 people is more amazing than anything happening on the field.

Buckeye marching band members wouldn't consider that inhumane. But their football team would.

People have got to stop calling this 'The Horror II.'
It could only be called that if we lost...and GOD forbid, otherwise I'd have to destroy the world.

It's been a rough couple years for fake people.
|6 days 18 hours ago||The Schembechler years,||
The Schembechler years, before we started playing Notre Dame, was filled with non-conference schools that were nowhere near Ann Arbor. Well, there were a few that were a couple states away but not many.
1969: Washington, Missouri, Vanderbilt
1970: Arizona, Washington, Texas A&M
1971: Virginia, UCLA, Navy
1972: UCLA, Tulane, Navy
1973: Stanford, Navy, Oregon
1974: Colorado, Navy, Stanford
1975: Stanford, Baylor, Missouri
1976: Stanford, Navy, Wake Forest
1977: Duke, Texas A&M, Navy
But this was normal. No MAC schools or 1-AA teams in those days.
In 1983, we played just two non-conference games, Washington and Washington State so we could play every team in the Big Ten. But it was just Michigan and a couple other schools that did this. I'm not sure why that was allowed.

|1 week 16 hours ago||When it comes to Michigan||
When it comes to Michigan football, I hold grudges worse than anyone. I complain about losses and blown calls for years, decades even. Heck, I complain about things that happened BEFORE I was born. (Example - Mike Lantry's field goal against OSU was good, DAMN IT!!!)
But even I have to tell you to get over it and watch the game. I was at ground zero for 'The Horror.' And I'm still tuning in. If I can do it, you can do it.

I feel like I need to adjust the color on the TV.
|1 week 3 days ago||While I agree that it's time||
While I agree that it's time to start winning at their stadiums again, I despise the new schedule quirk.
It was nice knowing that ANY season, we would have at least one rival at the big house. My entire life it's been that way. I would take that over having both OSU and MSU at home every other year.
It's another reason I hate the additions of Maryland and especially Rutgers to the conference.
|1 week 3 days ago||He played very well against||
He played very well against OSU. Unfortunately, the defense never did.
|1 week 4 days ago||Actually they did. The only||
Actually they did. The only time ESPN Classic was generous to Michigan fans was during OSU week. They showed the wins over them from 1969, 1977, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1995, 1996, and of course 1997.
But the other 358 days a year, they showed 1 Michigan win for every 5 gut wrenching losses. Literally, I added them up. The crazy thing about that channel was how UM heavy it was when it came to showing college football classics. It was roughly 75% Michigan and 25% the rest of college football.
Around 2001, I emailed Classic at their official site a three page list of Notre Dame and OSU losses that I thought would be perfect for viewers to relive but I never got a response. But it wasn't long before that station fizzled out anyway.
