I despise Notre Dame like hell but I always worry about their luck. It's not always restricted to one season. When I was little, and Lou Holtz was their coach, I remember them benefitting from flukey and mind boggling lucky plays in critical moments year after year after year. And seeing how the refs just handed them the Stanford and Pitt games last year... I don't want to start seeing more of that.

I really want to give those guys a Mario Manningham type beating under the lights this Fall.

4 days 43 min ago How is playing at MSU two

How is playing at MSU two years in a row even allowed?  In the last 40 years, no team in any of the major conferences has played AT a rival's stadium 2 years in a row.

College football schedules have always needed some type of scheduling changes because of realignment but it's never been used for rivalry games because....hello, they're rivalry games.

We had a thing with Iowa in the 80's where we would play 2 straight at Iowa City, 2 straight at Ann Arbor, 2 straight at Iowa City before going back to the 1-1-1-1 format.  Likewise, more recently, we played at Minnesota in 2002 and 2003 and at home against Minnesota 2004 and 2005.

Does this mean we could get MSU at home in 2015 and 2016?  That's the only thing that could be slightly fair in this warped new schedule.

God, this is so stupid.  We alternate MSU and OSU at home every year.  That's the way it's been and that's the way it should stay.

4 days 58 min ago Well, Notre Dame was kind of

Well, Notre Dame was kind of a dick in the first place, making sure to stop the series after they had one more home game, so they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Cancelling the 2014 game makes it even as far as home and away games are concerned.

4 days 1 hour ago Is this a joke? You can't

Is this a joke? You can't travel to a rival's stadium 2 years in a row in football. We go to MSU in odd numbered years and to OSU in even numbered years.

There have been years where we have played at Minneosta and Iowa 2 years in row, but they're not rivals.

No, no, no. This has to be fixed.

Does Chicago's arena always sound like a library? This is pretty sad.

5 days 1 hour ago Wisconsin basketball,

Wisconsin basketball, Wisconsin football....it never ends with the scheduling for them.  In basketball, they always seem to play the best teams just once and in football, they always miss playing one of the top teams...which was a major factor in going to all those Rose Bowls.

Maybe Bo Ryan and Barry Alvarez made a deal with Satan.  Either that, or GOD is giving them a break after Wisconsin's 100 years of futility in both sports before things got turned around.  Take your pick.

I'm not sure about the scheduling but as far as their basketball team is concerned, all those miracle buzzer beaters are nothing but Satan.

5 days 17 hours ago I remember in the 90's, when

I remember in the 90's, when I started getting hooked on the internet, that was a typical "slam" to us by OSU fans, from what I read.

scUM, most commonly used by MSU fans, is on the level of an insult from a middle schooler.  MeatChicken would be full out elementary school.

6 days 34 min ago You are correct, Brian.  Bill

You are correct, Brian.  Bill Martin never wanted to stop the series with Notre Dame.  Just do a 2 year hiatus like we did in 1983-84, 1995-96 and 2000-01.  The reason for that was in part because of the now tradition of dumbing down the conference schedule to all cupcakes plus a relevant team.  (Or if you're a team like Wisconsin, play all cupcakes.)  We were tied in with Notre Dame every year and I remember hearing some grumbling from fans that they wanted to play somebody different to play against some new blood but still keep the series with Notre Dame. The solution was another 2 year hiatus.  Problem solved.  It never meant we wanted to cancel the series altogether.

Speaking only for myself, I never wanted the series to end either.  But then Notre Dame sort of joined the ACC last year and sort of didn't so they could, I don't know, have some type of a conference affiliation but still be kind of an Independent.  That pissed me off from day one.  If you're going to be a member of a conference, you need to be a full fledged member.  You should not allow a team to play half of a conference schedule and still "sort of" be considered a member.  This is just another example of special treament being allowed in Notre Dame's favor.  And seeing that they turned down invites from the Big Ten to become a member decade after decade after decade, I wish the the Big Ten would finally tell Notre Dame to fuck off once and for all.  That means never again asking or even considering them for membership and for Sparty and Purdue, along with us, to drop our series with them once and for all.  Notre Dame's entitlement can only go so far until you finally have to say, "enough!"

6 days 22 hours ago Off the top of my head, 1989

Off the top of my head, 1989 when we were #2 and they were #1, they scheduled a kickoff classic game with Virginia before us while we opened against them.

In 1992, they scheduled Northwestern before us while we opened our season in South Bend. And in 1999, at the very last minute, they threw in a game against Kansas while we had to open against them.

That's when Lloyd finally spoke up and said WTF? The schools had a gentlemans agreement that we would open against each other and Notre Dame keeps ignoring that. Domer fans denied there was ever such an agreement but we never actually heard from their coaching staff or athletic director on the topic. And as we have learned over the last couple decades, Domer fans opinions don't mean crap.

It's this kind of crap that makes me glad we take a break in the series every now and then (1983-84, 1995-96, 2000-01). If Notre Dame wants to pound their chests over beating crappy ACC teams, while technically not being a full fledged member of that conference, go right ahead. Seriously, who else but Notre Dame would sort of/sort of not be a member of a conference?

6 days 22 hours ago Exactly. You start out 2-0,

Exactly. You start out 2-0, the world could care less. But in the last 20 years, if you start out 2-0 and you're Notre Dame, you're not only back to glory but you're front runner for the national title. It doesn't help that the media buys into this too soon hype either.

Night games on BTN are never really must see games and that list proves it.  The majority of them are always matchups between unranked squads.  If there is a ranked team playing, they are usually about a 40 point favorite that puts the game away in the 1st quarter.

1 week 6 days ago I know it's supposed to be

I know it's supposed to be funny but Fitzgerald looks like a total toolbag, especially to be celebrating a penalty to that extreme.  I know it's partly the Michigan factor.  The highlight of his college career (other than the Rose Bowl) was them beating us in '95, to end the 30 year losing streak.  And I'm sure that's carried over into his coaching job. I don't think he has that kind of reaction to a penalty if he were playing Minnesota or Purdue.

I know it's not going to be easy but I will enjoy any future win over him.

I'm not gone but most of my account is.  ZFR blocked nearly all of my single game highlight videos, which was close to 300.  They don't seem to have a problem with compilation videos so my player tributes, defense tributes and other random vids are still up.

It also pisses me off that you have to watch an ad now when you click on my remaining videos.  I never agreed to that but I guess YouTube changed the rules yet again.

2 weeks 2 days ago Keith Jackson was legendary.

Keith Jackson was legendary.  Most of his time was spent broadcasting games for us.  In 1989, Bo's final season, he did 10 of our 12 games.  After his retirement in 1998, Bob Griese brought up the fact that he's broadcasted more games from Michigan Stadium over the years than any other stadium in the country.  And speaking of Michigan Stadium, it was Keith who gave it the nickname, the Big House.

He broadcasted many of our greatest moments, countless wins over OSU, Bo's second Rose Bowl win, the national title game in 98, Desmond and Woodson's punt returns... and he broadcasted some of our most heartbreaking moments like the Colorado hail mary and Sparty mugging Desmond on the 2 point attempt.

After his retirement, ESPN Classic asked him which were his favorite college football games so they could broadcast them on a day as a tribute to him.  One of the games he picked was the 98 Rose Bowl, which ironically, was over his alma mater, WSU.

He's had enough great quotes to fill a library.  Some of my favorites were....

*1996 game in Boulder, Colorado's second hail mary is just incomplete.  On the replay, Keith says, "I don't think I could have handled that one."

*In 1998, after we crushed Penn State 27-0, Keith said, "Just before the game, I talked with Michigan's Jim Brandstatter.  He asked me what I thought would happen in the game.  And so I gave him my thoughts.  Now I realize I don't know a thing about anything."

And one from before I was born, the 1977 Texas A&M game at the big house...

"Now the Michigan Wolverines are assembled in the tunnel and the crowd is coming to it's feet, and when the Wolves come on to the field, you'll hear a roar that will knock pine cones out of trees 50 miles away."

2 weeks 6 days ago My friends were in end zone

My friends were in end zone row B for 21 years until the student section expanded last year. They always got me tickets either right by them or one row behind them.

So you and I were probably sitting very close to watch for several games the last few years. Unfortunately, I was in row B end zone for the horror where the field goal was blocked at the end too.

Doesn't Tuiasasopo live in San Diego? That's pretty ironic.

I too welcome any jokes at Notre Dame's expense. But part of me feels sorry for him only because I truly think he is gay and the catfish angle is to cover that up so he can attempt to have a career in the NFL. It's the only thing that makes sense in that whole mess where his stories kept changing.

So I want to laugh at him, then I feel bad. But he's a Domer, so I laugh. And so on and so on.
