This is dumb but not surprising in the least.
There's going to be more closeups of Harbaugh during that game than you have EVER seen from a head coach during a game.
It won't be just touchdowns, opposing touchdowns, sacks or interceptions. The cameras are going to zoom in on Harbaugh for 1 yard gains, 5 yard passes, flags, extra points, safeties...you name it.
It's going to be completely over the top.

Seems almost unanimous from the rest of the world that we lose to Utah.

I was ready to build a shrine to Greg Mattison that year over how improved the defense was, minus the ND and OSU games....contests where the D got torched but we outlasted in the end. But yeah, Denard + improved D + favorable schedule made up that season.
If Desmond is trying a reverse jinx, I hope it works.

Yes! I can't wait either.
There was a moment last year that stood out to me. The season had quickly turned into a disaster and Desmond Howard said on Gameday that he had watched Michigan''s practices that week and he did NOT like what he saw. He said the only one who seemed to be putting in any real effort and extra drive was Peppers. My heart obviously sank over that comment but it made me admire Peppers more.
I really want to watch him go out there and kick some ass.

This brings back the memories of hope gradually turning into reality. And the million times I said, "Stop fooling yourself."

Wow. Four pages for North Dakota State vs. Montana. You people are ready for football!
I was ready for football a few weeks ago when I turned on ESPN and they were showing the college national championship for fishing.
|2 days 22 hours ago||Not really. In the last 7||
Not really. In the last 7 years I've been to 8 games and we won 6 of them.
Some folks probably forget that Brady Hoke was 20-0 in home games until our train wreck offense couldn't do sh*t against Nebraska's 117th ranked defense two years ago.
Last year was the first time since 1996 that I didn't attend a single game. There was no way I could watch that madness in person.

I was at Crisler watching it on the big screen with the fans.
My record at the big house is 26-3. My record at Crisler is a dismal 1-6. I knew going in that bad things seem to happen when I'm at Crisler. But I couldn't take the chance of them winning it all and not being able to see the madness in Ann Arbor in person.
It's basically my fault we weren't 2013 national champs.

Yes, I said that. But I also said it's OK if it's during Michigan's bye week, which it was.
|3 days 2 hours ago||Well, he's still married||
Well, he's still married after 20 years so I think he'll survive.
Relax, man. He simply said he doesn't care about the non-Michigan fan's football schedule. He's not saying he curses all humanity and kicks puppy dogs for sport.
A dear friend of mine is getting married in a few weeks, the same day as the BYU game. And if it's a 3:30 start, it will be torutre for me having to check the score on my phone but I'll deal with it. And I know she doesn't say f*ck me and my schedule because, you know, it's kind of her day.

A million up votes to this if I could.
|3 days 3 hours ago||So you got married during||
So you got married during football season. You do realize that's a big no-no, right?
Michigan had bye weeks that year on September 23rd and October 14th. If it was one of those days, you're forgiven.

The timing of this one had some drama, being just a few months removed from the Moeller thing. The team was still sort of in mourning. Carr couldn't even bring himself to use Moeller's parking spot.
Remy Hamilton, who kicked 26 field goals the year before (and reached GOD level status in my eyes for kicking the game winner in South Bend) had a horrible outing in scrimmage and a horrible week of practice. He missed his only FG attempt that day.
The running game resulted in this:
Tim Biakabutuka 7 for 36 yards, Chris Howard 6 for 13 yards and Ed Davis 4 for 11 yards.
Dreisbach was 27 of 52 for 372 yards, 2 TD's and 2 interceptions.

That pissed me off too. And I think the reason is the same as why we traveled to East Lansing in football two straight years....because Maryland and Rutgers joined the conference and threw the whole schedule off balance.
Last year should have been a one game return with OSU playing at Crisler and no trips to Columbus to even things out and that didn't happen. Now OSU again gets us at their place and no return trip to Crisler.
|4 days 20 hours ago||With major help from the||
With major help from the officials against Stanford and Pitt.
Stanford got robbed of a TD that broke the plane in OT.
Pitt got called for a phantom pass interference that set up the game tying TD to send it to OT. Then in the 2nd OT, Pitt's shot at the game winning field goal was wide right but ND was offside and there was conveniently no flag or re-kick. Plus I recall a ND player taking a punch at a Pitt player and the ref doing nothing about it.
So yeah. There was some major luck on their part.

I did a double take when I read that Purdue is playing at Marshall. But then, they played (and lost) at Rice a couple years ago so I guess it's not that odd.
|4 days 23 hours ago||The endless interceptions we||
The endless interceptions we have had to endure have been rough. And it sounds like Rudock isn't a turnover machine (fiercely knocking on wood). So that's great comfort.
I wish we knew more about the sacks stat. Gardner was sacked about 1,000 times, understandably, given the O-Line he had to work with. And Denard would always take the sack rather than throw the ball out of bounds.
If there's nobody open and nowhere to run, I'd like to know that Rudock will throw it away.

It was always a fantasy of mine that Steve Breaston would return a couple of kickoffs for TD's in Notre Dame Stadium so they would know what it felt like. But in the end, I was happier with the demolition job Mario Manningham did on their secondary in the 47-21 blowout right under Touchdown Jesus.
Although we had that closeup of that toolbag Irish fan giving Breaston the finger in the endzone after he missed a TD catch.
|5 days 22 hours ago||Adding a few notes to some of||
Adding a few notes to some of those losses.
There was a screw job in that 2000 UCLA game from the officials...though it's been so long I can't remember the specific moment where a Bruin picked off a pass with one foot out of bounds, allowing them to set up the winning score (I believe).
2002 Notre Dame was miserable all around but that was also the game where Carlyle Halliday left the football on the two yard line which then rolled under a Michigan defender while Halliday went into the end zone holding air and got rewarded the score. Had the correct call been made, we go into halftime down 9-7 instead of 16-7.
2003 Oregon hurt...bad. Every single thing that could go wrong on special teams did and the Ducks got rewarded almost all their points because of them.
Poor Navarre. I always liked him. He took so much criticism and still did his best to improve every week. There was never an interview with him I saw where he didn't come across as a really nice guy.
|5 days 23 hours ago||I think a much better topic||
I think a much better topic would be 5 of the worst fight songs....because there's soooooooo many to choose from.
Seriously. Watching so many different schools over the season, I hear their fight songs and they sound like a theme song to a children's TV show, somewhere along the lines of Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. Then I try to picture the football players singing the song in the locker room afterwards and they must get rewarded a cookie and an apple juice.
