Interesting idea. I'll look into that.
|4 hours 27 min ago||It was relaxing for a while||
It was relaxing for a while but then it turned very stressful in the second half.
We led 24-10 at halftime and seemed to be in complete control. But then the offense went in the crapper in the 3rd quarter and Tom Brady threw a couple of costly interceptions. We trailed 31-24 in the 4th quarter and had to convert a 4th down on the game tying drive. Then Brady threw a TD to Dialo Johnson on the next drive for us to go up 38-31 and Arkansas got desperate and threw a pick six to James Whitley right after.
The final score (45-31) did not truly display how scary that game got for a while.
That was a very good Arkansas team, though. They probably would have played in a BCS bowl if they hadn't gift wrapped their game to Tennessee (the eventual national champion) with the worst timed fumble in the history of football.

ESPN Classic....my arch nemesis. You can only show Kordell Stewart throwing that hail mary or Rocket Ismail returning those kicks so many times before my middle finger gets too tired to aim at the TV screen.
But some comments...
1. I thought they stopped playing college football classics several years ago. I was happy with that.
2. They're showing Michigan wins? That many wins? Something's not right.
3. Showing 2010 Indiana is a joke. Denard is nice but watching the secondary playing 15 yards off the receivers for 3 hours is not worth it.

I looked it up and it was basically a 2 QB system with Andrew Maxwell and Cook for those first couple of games where they tried and failed to generate any type of offense. Both QB's were abysmal. Then somehow after game 3, Cook got the nod and started playing well and they ran the table.

Yes. That's the thing that keeps nagging at me. And it just comes naturally with a new QB. There are some exceptions...and I really hate using those fuckers as an example but in 2013, MSU had to break in Connor Cook. They had to rely on their defense to score points in their first two games against lowly South Florida and Western because their offense couldn't cross the street. Then, somehow, they finished 12-1 and won the Rose Bowl. I don't know where Cook was rated as a recruit but superior coaching can do wonders.

Very, very, VERY fortunate to have that early schedule. I always get a little apprehensive when we're starting a new QB.

A couple of those games they were equally as horrible (Wisconsin 1987, Minnesota 1997) and somebody had to win, which they did.

Random facts for those who like random facts. When Hawaii has had to travel the long distance to a B1G school, they are 0-5 all time:
Lost 53-10 at Iowa in 1991
Lost 42-14 at MSU in 2005
Lost 38-0 at OSU last year
Lost 28-0 at Wisconsin last year
Lost 28-7 at Wisconsin in 1987
The majority of the time, when they play a Big Ten school, the game is at their place. And they have done respectable in those games having beaten Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Northwestern.
Another random fact: Mike Patrick called our game against Hawaii when Harbaugh was our QB. Now 30 years later, he's calling our game against Hawaii with Harbaugh as our coach.

That seems much more logical than the 70 point wins most here are predicting.
Last year when Hawaii played in Columbus, OSU led 17-0 going into the 4th quarter. If we only lead by 17 in the 4th quarter, I can't even think of how scary this place would be.

Good riddance. ESPN used to love to replay ND's radio calls of Rocket Ismail's kickoff returns endlessly.

Seat wise, this has got to be like sitting in the nose bleed seats for the Final Four. Sure, it's nice to be there. But can you really tell what's going on?

Yes. That happened in the second half. But as maddening as it was, it was also the least surprising. USC has been gifted that kind of luck many, many times over the decades in the Rose Bowl. There is no shock left anymore.

The 2004 Rose Bowl against USC. Navarre threw a perfect bomb to him, right into his hands, and he drops it like a bar of soap. Would have gone up 7-0 in the first quarter.

Normally, I'd agree. But I'll watch more of this game only because it involves a future opponent.
I still think playing games on the other side of the world is stupid.
|3 days 9 hours ago||When Hawaii played OSU in||
When Hawaii played OSU in Columbus last year, the Bucks were up only 17-0 at the start of the 4th quarter. They eventually won 38-0 thanks to some turnovers but it was a massively slow start.
Something tells me this place would be pretty damn scary if we're only up 17 in the 4th quarter.
So that's another reason I hope we win by 100.

Oh, the cruelty of Fall weddings.
One of my best friends since preschool got married the same day as the 2007 Penn State game. When everyone got to the reception hall, we were all seated at our tables. While a minister was saying the blessing, everyone's heads were bowed while I was looking down at a handheld battery operated TV of the final seconds of the game.
It looked exactly like this...
The blessing and game finished simultaneously. So while everyone else said, "Amen!" for our eventual meal, I screamed "Amen!" for 9 straight wins over Penn State.

84 Harbaugh broke his arm a couple games into the season. So when 16 Harbaugh hops in his DeLorean and goes to that year, he better make sure his younger self avoids that injury.
And since he'll be in 1984 for a while, he might as well drive in to Detroit and watch the Tigers win the World Series.
