I am very sad to see him…

I am very sad to see him leave, but very happy for Jim Harbaugh the man and coach.  I sincerely hope he gets the double-header championships he's wanted all his life.  His coaching ability certainly deserves it.

And I am very thankful that things worked out for him to come back to Michigan and build a piece of football history in Ann Arbor.  Jim Harbaugh gave a lot to Michigan, and he got a lot from Michigan--a perfect relationship.

It's been a magical run.  I'm hoping the best is yet to come with Coach Moore.

I am already dreaming about…

I am already dreaming about this day.  Could be the ultimate Michigan football moment ever.

7:56:06?  Are you sure that wasn't his 40 yard dash time?  Or is this a different Tom Brady?

The #1, very best TOS episode EVER.  Absolutely brilliant.

I hear that next season they're going to dot the "i" with a recorder player instead of a tuba.

But...

...the music, is f***ing AWESOME.  So perfect for an Ohio "highlight" film.  Clearly, they got a top student from the OSU School of Music especially for this performance.  :P

Fans always want more.

Win…

Fans always want more.

Win a championship?  We want a second!  We want a dynasty!  We want to CRUSH Ohio...(ok we pretty much did that.  Next?)

But just because we want more doesn't mean that the actual people involved have to participate in our drama.

The realts football: Players go pro.  Coaches move around.  We watch, and---when Michigan has the pieces in place---we

Ice hockey is--without question--the best sport, and thank you for bringing it to Michigan.  I wish I could commute from DC to see you guys play.  I hope my next trip to Ann Arbor can include a B1G women's ice hockey game!

Let's go....Blue!  Adding…

Let's go....Blue!  Adding any hockey is a plus, and women's college hockey is really fun to watch.

It will only get better going forward too.  They're going to get rid of the antiquated no-check thing soon and it will be fantastic.

I spent many happy hours as…

I spent many happy hours as a teenager being lured into the "gaming" world by my uncle (who loved to gamble) at Northville Downs.

I really enjoy living in DC, but I SO miss Detroit.  Especially now.  Michigan football. Lions.  Red Wings don't suck anymore.  Pistons...ok, so no city is perfect...

Nope.  We won "fair and…

Nope.  We won "fair and square."  The NCAA confirmed it.  :)

I LOVE this moment in Michigan history, and can't wait to see what the next chapter looks like.  God, I wish it were September.

If you're desired by two…

If you're desired by two employers, you should absolutely negotiate with both until someone makes the offer you can't refuse.  It is the DUTY of an employee to get the absolute maximum amount of money for the minimum amount of work.*

No one can know what's in Jim Harbaugh's head or heart, so it's impossible to guess what will happen.  But it's still interesting to try to peek behind the veil a bit.

*Not because of sloth, but because the employer is trying to extract the maximum work for minimum money.  If the free market is going to work, the employee has to equal things out whenever possible.  THEN the market can truly dictate a fair wage.

Good sleuthing--this seems a…

Good sleuthing--this seems a logical explanation for an NFL interview with Shaw.  He's on no one's radar as a top NFL HC prospect.

This has to be incredibly…

This has to be incredibly frustrating for college coaches.  Not to begrudge students the opportunities, but the high pressure to win is now coming with so many things that make it very difficult to build a team.

I fear college football is going to start to look more like "one and done" basketball--basically all-star games with teams of players that really haven't played together that much.

Or G?

Or G?

"We are caught in an…

"We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny."

This Nice Thing will last…

This Nice Thing will last forever.

I love that they have each…

I love that they have each other's back so publicly.  The best family in coaching history. Ever.

I love that our coaches …

I love that our coaches (plural) have great opportunities, even if it means that we lose some of our best talent.  I'm happy that this crew achieved their (and our) dream.  Now, Godspeed one and all.

Michigan is a program that should be able to attract top level coaching talent, so I'm at peace with however this plays out.  We could keep the band together and rerun Harbaugh, Minter, Moore and JJ.  Or we could have a brand new operation.  I think we can be successful either way.

Team 144 was one for the ages. Now I can't wait for #145 to come in and raise another banner.

I bet JJ would be a very…

I bet JJ would be a very fine football coach if he had the interest in it.  Smart, articulate and he's learned from the best.  Very much like his mentor.

Depends on how you look at…

Depends on how you look at it.

Four-team playoff:  Hard to get in, but once you're in you only have to win two games.

Twelve-teams:  Easier to make the field, but then more difficult

So if you define "winning a championship" as what happens once the CFP starts the ESP-genius is correct.  But if you think the process starts at the beginning of the season, I think the four-team version is harder.  Just ask FSU how easy the four-team playoff is...

2021. Ohio St. 3rd quarter…

2021. Ohio St. 3rd quarter Haskins TD put us up 21-13 and I knew that the team was not going to fold.  Ever.

A lot will depend on whether…

A lot will depend on whether there is an email somewhere in the MSU camp that says (essentially), "OK, so this guy is a bust.  We have to figure out a way to get rid of him and get out of this insane contract."

If anyone sent any message like this, MSU will settle.

But if all the communications are, "Mel is awesome, we just have to ride out the tough stretch and he'll have us back on top," Mel is going to lose.

I don't think it's a forgone…

I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that just because Jim has been honest that the "investigation should conclude with no more penalties."

Given the behaviors of the NCAA and B1G though all of this, if I were Jim Harbaugh I would want explicit assurance that I wouldn't be kneecapped because some jackass in NCAA enforcement decided to act out a personal vendetta against me.

This isn't unreasonable.

And this demand makes…

And this demand makes perfect sense:  If Michigan knows what Harbaugh has already told them, AND they still offer him a contract it would be daft to then fire him for something that was known when the contract was offered.

Not only is this a reasonable demand, it seems like it would easy to challenge such a termination after the fact, too.

There HAS to be more to it than just this.  (or am I missing something?)

I prefer regular onions on…

I prefer regular onions on my cheeseburger, not scallions, thanks.

I feel old.

I've been a…

I feel old.

I've been a Michigan fan since 24-12, 1969, watching my father and uncle get emotional about beating Ohio. I wounld up attending Michigan.  Undergrad (2 of these) and Master's degrees (2 of these as well), and I never missed a football game as a student from 1974-1981.  I've followed the team ever since.  My parents had season tickets for 30+ years, then we would gather on Saturdays to watch games at their house.  I lived it all:  Bo, Moeller, Carr, Oh-My-God-It-Can't-Get-Any-Worse-Than-This, Oh-Yes-It-Can. Harbaugh.

But right now?  I feel...good.

The good guys won for a change.  And the "almost but not quite" moments of past years have been transformed into a beautiful prelude to this beautiful championship.

It's all come together, and past disappointments have become just a part of the amazing ride that Michigan football has taken me on for the past...half-century.  Yeah, I feel old.

But right now?  I feel...good.

Great schedule, and so many…

Great schedule, and so many unknowns about the team.

What we do know is that regardless of who is coaching and playing there will be a great attitude and bond--and a considerable amount of talent.  I think the program is set up to be one of the "reload, not rebuild" power programs, regardless of the specifics of who stays.

This year has been a story for the Ages.  Looking forward to the next chapter!

I'm not a football guru, but…

I'm not a football guru, but I'd say

Zinter, Johnson, and Grant are on the short list of guys getting drafted early.

They owe us one.

They owe us one.

I really would love to see…

I really would love to see the Lions win it all.  But if that doesn't happen, a "Harbaugh Grand Slam" would be pretty cool.

My SO is a die-hard Ravens…

My SO is a die-hard Ravens fan, so we have NFC (Lions) and AFC covered.  Things could get tense here if we get a Lions-Ravens Super Bowl.  But that would be a first-world fan problem, so we're not sweating it.

In any case, the Harbaugh clan really did pull together on this, and the coaching we've got from MacDonald and Minter has been superb.  The defense was playing chess and the rest of college football was in the pre-checkers era.

Everyone loves the spunky,…

Everyone loves the spunky, lovable losers.

To be hated, you have to be the team that beats everyone.  I'm good with a little hatred.  Just makes it more fun to come back and do it again.

In any case, this was a magical season from a unique, wonderful team.  Very glad I got to watch it unfold.  It was magical.

"They needed this win."

"They needed this win."

Reece, baby, we GOT that win.  Go sit in the corner.

Stopped drinking after four…

Stopped drinking after four martinis, but the game was still glorious.

I stumbled on this community a long while ago, and started participating in time for the last three seasons.  As a lifelong Michigan alum and fan, this year would have been special no matter what.

But being a part of this family has made the entire run much more meaningful and enjoyable.  Thank you one and all for a wonderful way to win a championship.

I stumbled across this site a while ago and mostly lurked...then got inspired to start contributing, just in time for the last three seasons.

I'm so fortunate that I found a community to share this run with.

Thank you, Brian, Seth, Alex, *people I don't even know* who made this community possible.  It makes moments like this infinitely more meaningful.
