The Murderbot series by Martha wells is fantastic. I have tried a lot of sci fi looking for a great new series and come away disappointed. Not Murderbot. Extremely entertaining.
gideon the 9th. I can’t even begin to describe how innovative and captivating this is. Hard to give a synopsis. Satirical lesbian sword wielding necromancers in a space opera?
city of theives. Setting is the seige of Stalingrad. Hilarious and heartbreaking.
papillion. I can’t believe it’s taken me 50 years to read this. Legendary true story of multiple breakouts from French South American penal colonies. Couldn’t put it down.
my list is the best. Trust me. I would know. I’ve read each of these.
I can relate to this. I know it doesn’t matter. I know fuck them all. It’s a character flaw. I want everyone to understand how wrong they were and to acknowledge the greatness of this team. Why do I care…!?
This championship run has been amazing for many of us personally, and sports can provide great catharsis, and clearly it has for you. But nothing is more important than the path of healing and self-recovery you have courageously taken the first steps towards. I'm very glad this crazy little online space has been a place of comfort for you. Take care of yourself, brother.
This was my question too. Obviously, the research is plentiful concerning concussion risk in general. But is there data regarding youth football? I would think the risk is much lower--smaller bodies, less speed, etc.
I don't think anyone comes out of this new Big 10 undefeated. I see us dropping a game to one of these teams, then winning the Big 10 Championship game, and playing again for the National Championship. We may possibly be putting in a new quarterback, but so will a lot of teams (OSU, Oregon, USC, Washington). We are returning talent everywhere. Our defense will still be as good as anyone in the conference.

I had to go back and look. A co-worker recommended the blog. I joined the morning of The 2011 Game. Which we promptly lost; sorry--my bad. I went back and looked at that year for the memories. That was a weird one. Such hope and promise coming in--Hoke's 2nd year after an 11-2 season (in which we broke the OSU streak for the first time, at home--the snow game), returning with Denard and plenty of talent. Then The Game. The first half was Denard as a star; god he was fun to watch--all-time favorite Michigan athlete. 67 yard touchdown run. Up 21-20 at half. And then didn't score again. I also figured out that very first day to avoid the gameday threads. Woof.
I love this blog. It may seem weird to say, but it has enriched my life. My passion for Michigan is hard to convey to non-fans; UM is really sacred to me. So finding a group of like-minded, passionate, well-informed, smart, funny fans has kept me going through the dark years. Enjoying with all of you the great times--Denard, Trey, JJ, Blake, Mo and Franz, Hutch, Chandee. And finding catharsis in the bad ones--I'll not list them today.
I find some of the best thinking and writing on this blog. Not just sports-related. I am grateful for all of you, Michigan brothers and sisters!
I agree. But our team is designed to do it. QB pressure, limit big plays, and tighten in the red zone on defense. Long, sustained drives, control time of possession, and grind out rushing yards in the 4th quarter on offense.
Ok I stopped clicking on the Penix highlights. That shit is stressing me out. It was like the NFL elite JJ TD pass against OSU. But just one after another.
I don’t think it’s PBONE to have some healthy nerves. Washington has the best offense in the country and Penix should have won the heisman. A loss to them wouldn’t be a shocking upset. But I think we win this game seven times out of 10. They are an excellent team.
I recommend never moving that pennant. Put tiny little construction cones around it. In fact, knock another one of those fuckers off the wall for our basketball program.
2. I like Fla-Vor-Ices after they've been out of the freezer for about 10 minutes so they are a little slushier. I stress eat them during M games. Green is my favorite.

Yeah Stevenrking's post in the other thread is pretty convincing. I agree with him now. Put the pitchforks away and let the story, and the season, play out before drawing ultimate conclusions.

Time to cut loose. Most of us were thrilled with his hire, albeit a bit apprehensive. Howard had big shoes to fill. And things looked promising at first. A lack of recent on the court performance we could wait out--schools are too quick to pull the trigger often. But this behavior is a pattern now. He does not have the demeanor to handle the stress and conflict that comes with being the head coach of a major program.
