Not a mod, but if you play…

Not a mod, but if you play as chaos remember it is always better to attack than defend, as you get an attack multiplier but no defense multipler. I say attack whatever territory that will then expose the most Ohio state territories the next turn. The deeper in their NE base the better

Stars > Territories It is more about daily active users/stara than current territories. Clemson actually has a slightly more daily active users and total star power than VT
Team Chaos it will all come down to eliminated teams. team chaos will determine the outcome one way or another.

Anyone have any clue on how long CFBRisk will run for?

I will solve your problem

If you do not want those tickets, I will solve your problem and buy all four off you for $50 each. That way, you are back to neutral and can buy those $90 seats instead! Problem Solved. But seriously, email me [email protected] if you want to sell them.

It is crazy the publicity

It is crazy the publicity this is getting on ESPN right now too. I don't remember in any other year the "Fourth" being this strong. Of course this is Disney's marketing department hard at work, but very impressive.

Somewhere Dave Brandon is soaking this all in and taking notes.

Need an energy guy

After watching the Indiana game and now this game, it is becoming clear what is currently holding back this years team. We simply don't have an energy guy that will rally the team when things are not going our way. When teams are able to take away what Michigan wants to do, we seem to shut down and play with less energy. This is seen in the 50-50 balls and getting destroyed on the boards.

In the past it has been:

2010 - 2011: Zach Novak

2011 - 2012: Zach Novak

2012 - 2013: Trey Burke / Mitch McGary

2013 - 2014: No one with McGary injured

Until McGary returns, we are missing a spark plug to rally and bring energy to the whole team. When things get tough, this team tends to get soft. I've been waiting for Michigan to make a run this whole game, but have come to realize that it was never going to happen as we are currently missing the type of player to jump start the rally and get the whole team energized.

On the snowflake side: Irvin is showing more and more of his overall game and I am really enjoying it. By the end of the year, he will be Not Just a Shooter.

They did, but the 3s were not

They did, but the 3s were not setup by good offense. They came off a stalled Indiana offensive possession with the shot clock under 5 seconds and Ferrell was forced to shot a contested 3 or else it would be a turnover. This is very good defense and exactly what you want the offense to do. It was just one of those days where anything he put up happened to go in.

The only other 3 from him I can remember (I'm sure there were others), was after an offensive rebound and the D was scrambling. That would happen against any type of D formation though.

As far as giving up offensive rebounds, that is the major knock of zone defenses. It is a scramble to find a man to box out.

I thought it was a panic move to go to the 1-3-1 just because Indiana was scoring. Michigan had very good defensive possessions in the man-to-man that didn't work out because sometimes that just the way the ball bounces. If someone did a UFR of the defensive possessions, I believe the man-to-man vs 1-3-1 would grade out much, much better.

I agree that Morgan was a

I agree that Morgan was a much better defensive match-up on Vonleh, but we were not able to generate anything on offense while Indiana wasn't really looking too much for Vonleh on the inside. Sometimes you just need to test it out for a couple possessions to get momentum back.

He lit us up when he was

He lit us up when he was forced to take a 3 with under 2 seconds left on the shot clock because that was their only offensive option without getting a shot clock violation. Maybe it was just my eyes, but I would be billing to bet the PPP of 1-3-1 vs Man-to-man was higher if you discount the forced 3s (which is good defense IMO) at the end of the shot clock.

The only turnover I can remember the 1-3-1 forcing was 1 shot clock violation. This also happened in man-to-man but it was harder to throw up a deperation 3 against the 1-3-1. But this opened up a lot of driving lanes and instead led to a lot more drives and fouls against Michigan. Just look at the number of fouls and FT attempts for Indiana in the first vs second half.

I love Beilein, but this game

I love Beilein, but this game is on him. He didn't make the right offensive adjustments and his defensive adjustments were wrong.

On offense, he should have noticed right away that Sheehey was guarding out 5 while Vonley was on Robinson. He should have put Horford in for Morgan (who did have a solid game minus the FTs), because Horford has a much better post game than Morgan. This would have caused either a switch of defensive philosophy by Crean or someone from the top helping out by scrapping down low. If he choose the later option, it would have opened up the 3 ball  amd lanes to penetrate with ball movement.

Even without that, the offense started struggling with limited movement as Ferrell sticking on Stauskas. The answer for this is not more iso, which let the offense get very stagnant, but instead even more movement. Then set up the overplay with backdoor cuts to the basket.

Also I was unhappy with Beilein's defensive choose of going to the 1-3-1. Man-to-man was working great, Indiana had a lot of very crappy positions that Ferrell bailed them out on with 3s at the buzzer. Just because they were going in, doesn't mean it was a good offensive possession for Indiana. Instead, the 1-3-1 allowed Indiana to have better ball movement and be able to get into the paint, which they were not able to in man. The defensive was good this game until he changed it. A made shot =/= bad defense.

In the end though, it was just one game and Michigan will move on with hopefully lessons learned after a film session. The Big Ten title still goes through Crisler. Hopefully Robinson decides to wake-up.

No wonder why Indiana and MSU

No wonder why Indiana and MSU is a "protected rivarly", they both like to shoot themselves in the foot.

You can legally chop block if

You can legally chop block if the guy is not engage with anyone else. In that play the LB was already being blocked by the center, so it was the right call.

U-C-F Knights! Down with the

U-C-F Knights! Down with the SEC! They took the first drive right down the cock's throats for a 7-0 lead. Storm Johnson (transfer from Miami (YTM)) is the real deal at running back for them.

"Play Like a Chicken

"Play Like a Chicken Today"

Is the best sign. Classic.

I know most of you around

I know most of you around here hate the NBA, but the first half has been quality basketball by both teams. This is going to be a great series. Go Heat!

I have no clue what the

I have no clue what the "violation" was and I am still trying to figure it out, but I do not believe it is as simple as this.

After the play, Gonzaga tried to make a subsitution afterwards, but the refs disallowed it because no time went off the clock as it was a dead ball violation. If it was as simple as the ball was inbounds to Stockton and he went out of bounds, at least .1 of a second should have been taken off the clock (he clearly had both feet inbounds when he caught the ball) and Gonzaga would have been able to substitute.

Does anyone know the exact ruling? I would love to know.

Holy Blizzard Soccer.

If snow keeps on falling like this, it will be very interesting watching them play in 5+ inches of snow n the second half.

Don't forget about the Big

Don't forget about the Big Strong Longsnapper!

If you are still trying to

If you are still trying to feel better, turn on ESPN. Virginia is up 64 - 53 on Duke with 2:48 left and Virginia ball.

Glad I can help out,

ain't it delicious?

BEAT PENN STATE!

One game at a time boys.

What a Block.

Not even the Moon was safe against that.

FYI, the Heat announcers just

FYI, the Heat announcers just asked TH Sr. why he was missing the game. He responded that  he is leaving at halftime to make sure he watches the game in entirely and be in the moment.

They then said that TH Jr was a Junior and what about next year? TH Sr. response was that "you can't teach height". TH Jr has the length to shoot over people that TH Sr. never had. TH Sr. "chest can barely fit in Miami", because he is that proud of his son. How he helps put his team in a position to win every game and hopefully lead a Final Four run. But afterwards, it is ultimately TH Jr's decision to make and TH Sr. supports his son either way. Unfortunately, overall, my impression of his comments was that TH Jr. is leaning more to heading to the draft next year than staying, but it is still very much undecided.

Random, but Tim Hardaway Sr.

will not be at the game. Just saw him with the Heat telecast during the Miami game. I can't think of the last big game that TH Sr. wasn't watching him son play live.

Go Blue! Beat State!

It is best for UM if OSU and

It is best for UM if OSU and IU split their series and each pick up a loss. The best chance of that happening is for OSU and IU to both win at home. I highly doubt OSU can win at Assembly Hall.

You do realize that 5th place

You do realize that 5th place is only a single game behind 1st place? Right? And Michigan will play both current 1st place teams at least once at home before the end of the season?

I am going to say Yes,

I am going to say Yes, but that is just because I don't think it can be any worse. B1G officiating does not mesh with Michigans current style.

Did he watch the OSU game for

Did he watch the OSU game for this year?

It was the loudest I ever heard. Definitely on par with @ OSU, while IU was probably a little bit louder.

A) That was Josh Gasser
B) We

A) That was Josh Gasser

B) We made the tourney that year: 2010 - 2011

But that Turner shot was a killer as a came in the semi finals of the BTT, in the 2009-2010 year that we missed the big dance. If we won that game, all we needed to do was beat a so-so Minnesota team in the finals for the automatic bid.

I am sorry, but damn there

I am sorry, but damn there are just so many Negative Nannys here. I am not directing this at you, but I have a feeling most of the "downers" barely even watched Michigan Basketball until a couple of years ago at best.

The State game is NOT a knock-out game. In fact, it is a game where State will be favored to win and is a huge bonus if Michigan comes out with the victory.

I thought it was common knowledge, but do most of you know the receipe to win the Big Ten Regular Season title?

A) Defend your home court.

B) Beat the teams you are suppose to beat on the road.

C) Steal a couple of road games you are not suppose to win.

So far Michigan has accomplished both A and B. As far as C, Michigan beat Minnesota @ the Barn and just came up short again Wisconsin, but this was a game I would classify as C and not B. Michigan still has at a C with the game vs State on Tuesday.

Now if you want to look at State, so far they have pretty much done the exact same thing as Michigan. They did A and B, and have one C victory over Wisconsin but they lost the Minnesota @ the Barn. They stll have to go to OSU and have 3 very tough games at home vs Mich, IU, and Wisco.

Everyone needs to quit freaking out about one game where we lost because of a Prayer! Enjoy this Michigan team as it is. Yes it has its weakness, but this is the best it has been in 20 years! And if you haven't been watching Michigan basketball for more then the last couple of years, please STFU, and let the rest of us enjoy the this team for all that they are (and are not).

When you live in a binomial

When you live in a binomial world of only 0 (miss) or 1 (make), the outcome does not dictate true difficulty. That is why I like the UFR so much, as if Brian did one for the final play in Regulation, Levert would of been in the plus with Beilien getting a -1.

Levert was in great position with a hand right in Burst face when he shot the ball. Unfortunately there wasn't much more Levert could do as Burst caught the ball in perfect stride heading slightly towards the basket. The real error here was not putting someone on the inbounder to make it difficult to make that perfect pass.

And to all those saying "Levert should of foul", he never really had an opportunity to without taking off under a second of game time as Burst went into his shooting motion very quicky. He started it with about 1.6 second left in the game.

Burst went into his shooting

Burst went into his shooting motion with about 1.6 seconds left and released the ball with about 0.9 seconds left. In what happened you are left with 2 scenarios.

A) Wisconsin ball at midcourt with 1.6 seconds left in the game.

or

B) 3 Wisconsin FTs.

I like the original scenario much better then the other two possibilities if we decided to foul. Do you know the percentage of the shot Burst made going sideways with a hand right in his face? I will give you a hint, It is not high.

He made it, it happens. Now it is time to focus on beating State and using this game as an example that you cannot allow teams to even have a chance at the end of games because shit happens and prayers (not yours) are answered.

And if the refs deem that

And if the refs deem that intentional, then it is 2 foul shoots and the ball. Does that really seem like a smart risk?

I had a debate with my roommate about this.

I actually agree with no fouling. There was only 2.4 seconds left and Wisconsin is inbounding from their baseline. Now if you let them pass it in to around halfcourt and foul, that only takes up at most 1 second. Now Wisconsin is inbounding with 1.4 seconds left from halfcourt. It is much easier to run a play to get a player an open look off a screen from half court.

IMO the biggest mistake was not putting someone on the inbounder to make it harder on him to throw a perfect pass to a man on the run 1/3rd of the way down the court.

Wow, I guess we will just

Wow, I guess we will just beat them in over time then.

TTIIIMMMMAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

TTIIIMMMMAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

This.

The most likely path for this is for both teams to lose on the road. Therefore, I am hoping IU losses on Saturday.

This is MGoBlog!

Fergodsakes!

Not a chance they pass us

They might get a couple of first place votes, but no way would that one half be more impressive then full game victories over OSU and @ Wisconsin.

Besides, Duke is about to win by single digits in a home game where they were up by 21 at half time. Does that sound like #1 worthy to you? Only if you watched the first half. Also NC State has never been considered an elite or even a very good defense their year, it is not like Duke put those number up vs a high caliber defense.

Sort of

Just think of it as rooting for Indiana to lose. That is the best outcome to help Michigan win the Big Ten.

No

Beat Wisco!

Regression to the mean for the #1 team!

Yes!

I don't care for the #1 ranking, I care about the Big Ten Title.

I know you are kidding at all, but I would rather it be guaranteed that the worst Michigan does during the hardest 4 game stretch in the nation is 2-2, instead of going into Breslin needing a victory to make it 2-2. Yes I would rather beat State than Wisco. A) it is State. B) they are more of a threat for the Big Ten title, but I will not be picky.

Besides, with all the #1 teams losing this year, doesn't regression to the mean of #1 teams losing, have to happen soon? What better time than next week?

Oh yea, I still have not gotten over Death to Backboards from a couple of years ago.

Woohoo.

I guess Indiana can be beat at (an) Assembly Hall.

BEAT WISCO!
