"Northwestern fans can be both heartened and disheartened by the loss to Minnesota just like how nineteenth-century resurrectionists were heartened when they pried a heart from a freshly-buried corpse and then disheartened it when they sold it to a disreputable anatomist."

- Sad. As noted, their opponent was a 2-3 team and an underdog.
- Tearing down the goal posts used to mean something
- This is their first win in the B1G.
- Last year, their only win over a decent team was Arkansas. In September.
- Their last good season was in 2006. That was a long time ago. Like Lloyd Carr Rose Bowl long ago.
- Their students are behind the program, even after some seriously bad PR involving coaches and the AD.

There's a logical truism in here, of which I am frequently reminded by my fantasy football team: Teams prone to losing tend to do so to teams prone to winning. Statistically, this is almost always reflected in their respective records.

The point was about those that blame their losses on bad calls late in the game.

|2 weeks 1 day ago||Sure...||
...or they could not have been flagged on the BS PI in the end zone. Bad calls happen - but what aggravates me is that proportionally the clock management and field goal try are what really lost us our game. A team that puts itself in a position to lose on flukey crap calls really doesn't get to complain.

...that stands out to me is that MSU managed to win despite the bad calls.

Michigan State's defense is good. MSU gives up 3 TOs in one half and they are still blanking Nebraska

...but it seems to me that Brandon's PR blunders have been bad enough to merit immediate action without having to wait for all the forensics of the events on the sideline after the probable concussion.

...what he meant to say is that failures of leadership like this normally get swept under the rug, but because Michigan has been losing it is getting the attention it deserves. Is that what he meant?

If anything, it's finally being blown into proportion. One can be incompetent while still having the best intentions, and that seems to be the case from the football program all the way to the top of the athletic department.
