Also a happy backblaze user here.

I love Boise! I don't see that much Maize and Blue here - lots more orange and Bronco blue instead.

I have the EGO battery…

I have the EGO battery operated and absolutely love it. Thing cuts like a champ, their trimmer and blowers use the same battery and are pretty good too. My yard is quite flat so I didn't not get the power assist version, but kind of wish I did because why not? Anyway, heartily recommend the EGOs.

Sounds like fitness shouldn't be a problem then - just make sure you have water, sunscreen, and some layers. The normal stuff.

If you are feeling up for it and can get a campsite, I would definitely recommend at least one overnight hike - there's a lot you can't see on a day hike, especially in the northern part of the park. We spent nearly a week in the northeast corner and absolutely loved it; saw plenty of sheep and goats, and three grizzlies.

Also, a few comments below recommending chatting with the rangers when you arrive and I could not agree more! They know the park intimately, the current conditions, and where they have already sent a bunch of people for the day.

So much I love about that…

So much I love about that place! Can't miss the highline trail at the summit of the Going to the Sun road (http://www.hikinginglacier.com/highline-loop.htm). There's a spur that'll take you up to the Grinnell glacier overlook - super steep but actually the easiest way to see an actual Glacier in the park.

How long will you be there? All hotel/motel or some camping? Level of hiking experience?

Same! Hopefully it's not too…

Same! Hopefully it's not too little, too late.

Wildlife Viewing

I don't have any fishing advice, but I would strongly encourage you to make friends with a couple of the the folks driving around with the large whip antennas. They often spend the whole summer in their RVs in the park and will radio back and forth all day with bear and wolf sightings, etc. They're also pretty willing to share their spotting scopes when they've found a good spot. A few years ago we got to watch young wolves chase a herd of bison because we'd said hello to some retirees over breakfast.

All Purpose Back

I'm pretty sure it's stands for All-Purpose Back.

Seconded

Animal style is the way to go. On the fries too.

Walton

One of the reasons I actually love Bill Walton as an announcer: "THROW IT DOWN BIG MAN!"

Great Diary

Some can be tough to get all the way through (internet attention spans and all that), but this was perfect. Thanks!

Would that I Could

I really want to upvote you for this, but alas, I do not have enough points (yet).

Willie McCovey

Although, I do like "McCubby."

Love it.

Fun read.

Totally agree.

Wholeheartedly second this recommendation. I give it to people who say they don't like fantasy books and they invariably ask if I have the second book about a week later.

Woodley Park Food

If you stay on the Zoo side Indique (one metro stop up at Cleveland park) is quite good.  If you do venture over to Adams Morgan I recommend Amsterdam falafel.  Open City, just around the corner from the Woodley park Chipotle, is also pretty tasty.

I just like hitting.

TYLER: I'll play wherever they need me. I like both sides really; I just like hitting. My family is friends with Russ Grimm and he put it well in his Hall of Fame speech, "The ability to move a man from point A to point B against his will is a wonderful thing."

I really like that kind of  perspective.  Imposing one's will on the field.

Very Cool

Thank you.  Color coding Off / Def was a great idea.

That was awesome.

Great work.

Exactly.

Most famously during one of his interviews with Cosell.

He also forgot to use spell check.

u no what i'm sayin?
