This is a great piece of…

This is a great piece of writing and it is saying something that is true. Great writing often does.

I have an ex gf who is a…

I have an ex gf who is a good person, and I'd hope it works out for. But she's not in my story anymore so emotional involvement is not relevant.

Hey Blog About Michigan…

Hey Blog About Michigan Football,

Which would you prefer?

Ultimate success for Michigan football? Or like someone who was notoriously bad at Zelda being so good that it's like totally a big Legend of Zelda deal?

I know this is an unconventional post for a blog a blog about Michigan football, but I'm kinda thinking we all gotta go Zelda guy.

You're all with me right?

Perhaps he chose you to…

Perhaps he chose you to smite specifically. Thanks for blowing it

Plenty of people who would…

Plenty of people who would look the other way are left over from that era. The money is still left from that era. Don't act like 19 years is a long time for a two centuries old university who trades on tradition.

Grow up.

Grow up.

That's a different argument…

That's a different argument than no side effects.

Yes the broader catagory…

Yes the broader catagory of that type of medical treatment has been studied for a long period of time. But the actual thing we're talking about *THIS* treatment was produced on an expedited timeline.

I'm not sure if you're a bad actor intentionally going for slight of hand, or just not able to think critically.

Your argument is the equivalent of saying an experimental car is as road ready as other cars just because we've had automobiles for a long time.

Having to resort to that sort of idea laundering just shows you have no real arguments, which makes a lot of sense because you're arguing against a fact.

It is going. You can't…

It is going. You can't compare it to other mRNA treatments for entirely different things and pretend it's the same thing.

If the important to you…

If the important to you thing you talked about was different than then the thing that got you your audience, over time you lose your audience. That's how audiences work.

Ace is the reason I check…

Ace is the reason I check the blog on occasion rather than multiple times daily like I did for years. He's a good writer, and I've agreed with a lot of his opinions over the years, but the more his work has tended toward moralizing and scolding rather than discussion the less it feels like I'm reading analysis. I wish everyone the best of luck and whatever.

I like how even though you…

I like how even though you don't know their situation, you make yourself look awful trying to describe it.

We need to figure out a way…

We need to figure out a way for people to be able to select and train their own algorithms. Otherwise we'll continue to have an escalation of this problem.

Opting out isn't an option because when the vast majority of social political action continues to migrate online, ignoring it basically means not knowing what's going to happen next (even to people not online) and not having input in societal level decisions.

In 2019 the Wall Street…

In 2019 the Wall Street Journal accessed the football team's brand value at 811 million dollars.

Your line of thinking seems to imply it's out of bounds for someone running a university to have a nearly one billion dollar brand on their radar.

This is where people don't…

This is where people don't understand how the the world works, how much of Michigan's brand power is related to athletics? Big donations? In state political power? Some random super talented kid from far away picking Michigan instead of Stanford or an Ivy?

The answer to that obviously isn't 100% but it just as obviously isn't insignificant? Maybe it's only 5%, probably it's a lot higher than that though. Probably higher than it should be.

So should the University's President pay attention to the University's brand that factors into everything else it tries to accomplish? Of course. Even if it's components don't have the same budget as the engineering department? Of course. To think otherwise is naive.

I bet the first thing that…

I bet the first thing that social justice commission does is call to light all the human rights violations in China.

Chicken and egg though. Non…

Chicken and egg though. Non-compliance with basic health protocols makes this sort of cancellation inevitable.

A tiny noose for dolls or…

A tiny noose for dolls or hands that want to more easily pull down garage doors.

I'd rather let fools talk…

I'd rather let fools talk and be rebutted. Banning just makes other idiots think it's credible because it's "the truth they don't want you to hear". America would maybe be smarter and in less of a cultural civil war if we confronted dumb ideas to debunk them for others rather than clutching pearls and hiding from dumb ideas like they're so powerful we think they'll catch on if anyone reads them.

It's 4-0 corporate…

It's 4-0 corporate. Everything else is window dressing.

Look let's just assume you…

Look let's just assume you're right and sociopaths are trying to take over the world because they don't care about people. Do you think they'd overcomplicate things by taking a virus and hoping people magically believed them without evidence? It would be much easier to release something deadly people needed to protect themselves from.

Personally I'm super creeped out by Bill Gates, but you acting like a flat earther about basic safety protocols and risk management doesn't make anyone want to take any questions you ask seriously.

I like how you're implying…

I like how you're implying someone else is unintelligent while you're clearly challenged at evaluating information.

Even if you want to mak a…

Even if you want to mak a point about how we build our immune system by exposing it to the world, trying to build up your immune defense in the middle of a pandemic by exposing yourself to the pandemic is just a big bucket of dumb.

This isn't letting your kid play in the dirt with worms to get used to microflora and fauna or letting kids get colds so they can fight the dangerous things later.

Do you just not know how to evaluate risk?

I hope you're right as well…

I hope you're right as well and there's a lot to be learned from the Spanish flu comparison.

One thing though, something more lethal typically burns out faster, not slower. Once it kills someone they can't pass it around to others.

Hopefully him talking about…

Hopefully him talking about it publicly helps some other people out too. Good for him.

I don't suggest this as an…

I don't suggest this as an alternate to ads, but any chance you'll ever accept BAT token donations? I tried to send one previously and don't believe it was accepted.  I'm guessing more and more people will be using the Brave browser because it's better and safer, but be like me and want to give you the tokens.

This rubric is in opposition…

This rubric is in opposition to learning from mistakes once someone dies and is actually kind of a pocket veto for anything besides whitewashing. It's pretty anti-intellectual policy.

I'm curious if you think it should be applied to world leaders as well? Certainly, a football coach is a public figure. Some are even the highest paid employees of their state of residence.

What's the sociatial benefit of ignoring  factual actions that caused material harm to others?

He's the coaching equivalent…

He's the coaching equivalent to poisoning the Gatorade or replacing all the strength training equipment with a giant machine designed to cause head injuries.

It's great you ran track and…

It's great you ran track and I understand your point about it being a lifelong sport. But you need to be comparing football to not playing a sport for your point of view to be credible. Running track is not the control group.

Sad pizza.

Sad pizza.

If they flip him back it…

If they flip him back it will forever known as winning "The Battle of Daxton Hill."

People need to start linking…

People need to start linking protest to businesses related to the trustees.

If they're willing to risk…

If they're willing to risk the safety of their most beloved on camera and in public, it's no surprise how they've treated the powerless behind closed doors.

What if my name is Alabama,…

What if my name is Alabama, but the two loss team is Clemson?

I always cheer against Penn…

I always cheer against Penn State because they systemically supported pedophilia. There is no reason to ever hope for their football success, because they've demonstrated an institutional and cultural policy for that success to act as cover for some of the worst possible human behavior.

The "what are your career…

The "what are your career stats" at Michigan argument is the bad logic equivalent to dismissing a sabermetrics  book based on the author's lack of home runs. Or thinking Michael Jordan was an awesome NBA GM.

What if they issue free…

What if they issue free coins for free autograph Say issue 5000 and keep a bunch. If anyone turns them in it burns off the coin. Sell the kept coins when price rises.

Be the change you wish to…

Be the change you wish to see.

If you're going to cheer…

If you're going to cheer against countries that have messed with elections it's gotta tough to be a fan of the USA.

So you mention that…

So you mention that recruiting ratings don't matter because they're like September Heismans but then you lament UM not signing any new top 100 2019 recruits.

There's room for criticism in U of M's recruiting, but playing worst of both worlds is pretty disingenuous.

If you do choose to get…

If you do choose to get another pet, I've always been a fan of getting a rescue and framing the idea of doing so as "the deceased pet's last act was helping us save this rescue's life."

Big if true.

Big if true.

Colorado and reality say

Colorado and reality say "hi".

Ever since I was a kid I

Ever since I was a kid I thought that man was garbage. Guess I won't be changing my opinion any time soon.

Headline: Protesting

Headline: Protesting Protesters Protest Protest-Prostesting Protest.

Plus every time I hear his

Plus every time I hear his name I remember him getting charged for public urination.

Because you don't get any

Because you don't get any quote you can use for a story, and worse because if you ask questions that agitate the people who get to decide who gets to go to press conferences you'll find yourself not invited in the future.

Since that access is a major part of your job, you don't get as agressive as a gumshoe reporter peppering the police chief outside city hall.

Yeah let's not talk about

Yeah let's not talk about Football and just watch "Law & Order".

I mean, I want him to do well

I mean, I want him to do well because: Michigan recruiting.

But his twitter's a bad look. Best practice is not to feed trolls. It just draws things out, is very unlikely to make you come off well, and there's not a ton of upside.  Plus you have the chance to get skewered for some dumb misstep in some battle you didn't have to fight.

As John U Bacon quotes: never turn a one day story into a two day story.

Also looking at responses. More than once he goes for the insult about someone having a low amount of followers. And another time he brags about an expensive dinner. Way to punch down bro! Scoring points off of privledge is a pretty poor strategy long term. So is repeating your "just being mean" hot take.

Honestly these people are jerks for trolling him, but after reading his account it's hard to think highly of him.

I'd prefer he had a bit more self control, or at least found someone more versed in social media best practices to vet him. He's pretty embarassing.
