Wait wut? Jake is Matt Ryan's brother for realsies?
Yeah I guess I figured they would red-shirt Gardner and if Avery is as smart as they say maybe he can do a little bit of both, particularly if he's not going to be starting for a few years. It would be a way of getting him on the field.
Its hard to say who is or was a sleeper until they play college football and prove themselves at that level. David Harris was a sleeper. Mike Hart was a sleeper. Vincent Smith if he stays injury-free will be a sleeper. Vinopal, Ryan, Johnson and the others we'll just have to wait and see.
Excited about Niko That dude could be a good one. If most of that is muscle. If not, Barwis him.
Yeah I feel like good walk-on kickers and punters could be found without wasting a scholly. A lot of great college kickers and punters started off as walk-ons.
Care to share who this sleeper might be? And don't say Ricardo Miller...
Interesting It seems that a good amount of those walk-ons were out-of-state prospects. I'm glad we're able to pull them from out-of-state.
What are RR's traditional walk-on positions??? I know that RR likes to get a walk-on FB, is there another position that he traditionally looks to get walk-ons to fill? I feel like it would be a good place to get potential lineman with good fundamentals who just need a few years to gain some size. That would help shore up our line depth on the cheap (scholly wise).
What are Michigan's entrance standards for athletes? I know it has been discussed somewhere before but I can't recall. What is the min. GPA, ACT/SAT to be eligible?
I guess there's no way Vos would give up that scholly Sigh. A 6'8" TE would be awesome. I think 230 is a little light though. The dude must be too slow or have bad hands because I would think with that size some higher profile schools would be after him. It would be cool to take him at Michigan and have him be a dual athlete...
Oh yeah As far as money is concerned I guess that would rule out the vast majority of out-of-state kids from being walk-ons considering the tuition. Does anyone know how many of the walk-ons over the last two years have been in-state vs. out-of-state? I guess it's good that that's the case as it helps RR build his Michigan base by taking lesser rated kids from local high schools. That being said there is still a chance that they can earn a scholly so that might provide some incentive for some of these kids. This is why it's so important for Kovacs at the very least to obtain a scholly.
Out of curiosity What are the academic standards for preferred walk-ons? Do they have to get into Michigan via the application process or is there a little more leniency academically if RR says that he wants them?
Good He's an MLB right? I'm glad we're supplementing our position there. Any other info on him?
As a native Angeleno and UCLA/Mich fan I can tell you that one of the big problems that UCLA faces is the fact that it is a public institution. Like Michigan, California is going through some major budget issues and this affects all of its state academic institutions. UCLA in many cases has to share its piece of the pie with all of the other UC schools as well as the Cal State schools. This has a significant impact on its ability to recruit as well as its coaching staff. Rick Neuheisel has done a good job of working within that by convincing Norm Chow and Darrell Walker to join the staff but he does not have the resources that a wealthy private institution like USC does. And of course when you're going head to head with USC for all of these players you're going to lose out the vast majority of times. That being said, Rick has done a better job of late in getting talent to commit to UCLA in these head to head recruiting match ups with Carrol. The pending USC sanctions should really help UCLA attract the local kids as well. Moreover, UCLA has been plagued with injuries to its starting QBs (if you think there is a Michigan *insert position here* hating God I can tell you that Loki himself makes a career out of smiting UCLA quarterbacks) over the last 5 years or so. When your 1st and 2nd string QBs are out for seasons on end it is hard to garner the necessary talent to pull off a victory.
Maybe he got wise to us And switched planes? He could be on the Domino's Express Delivery Plane with Brandon now.
Alright Keanu You do love to play Devil's Advocate...
2005 Rose Bowl Unfortunately they had Vince Young on that Texas team. Otherwise it was awesome.
Yeah Dude took a piss at the bar at skeeps, I mean he literally pissed on the bar. Huge douche. Huge.
Well Whatever he says now, he was claiming to anyone who would listen that RR didn't want him to be there (don't know if RR said that but I imagine that was his interpretation or he was just making up excuses). I can say that he ended up taking a piss inside Skeeps and reinforcing the negative opinion everyone already had of him.
Yup West Quad is the best quad.
Zoltan is Awesome Lived in the dorms with him my sophomore year. Nicest guy around. What was crazy was there was a huge marijuana bust on our floor. Like 8 kids on our floor were fined. Glad he didn't get caught up in that.
Hmm My guess is D-Rob plays second string QB for the next two years and then redshirts and moves to CB for the remainder of his scholarship.
Yup Sigh...it's the circle of life.
Hmm I have a strong temptation to submit this to fail blog.
Well Only if the salt grain is dedicated to the system. Otherwise it wouldn't be fit to come out of a shaker.
Well I wouldn't even take an s star star t in one so neg points for Pitino.
Hmm Well Pretty Boy Floyd will come if we build it, and by build it I mean not suck.
No Braylon Edwards FTL!
Hmm Prob too slow to get downfield fast enough. Especially if you consider an offensive line + freshman quarterback will rarely get the set up right to complete such a play.
Ye Stokes is exactly the deep ball threat we need. And he has burners on him for after the catch.
Wait what? What did he do?
Got it Somewhere between my shoe and the ground. In my rankings that would be between Northwestern and Indiana.
Agreed I'm guessing that we crack the top 6. Something like PSU OSU MSU IOWA ILL MICH MINN WISC NW INDIANA Some teams I forgot the names of.
Yes This is excellent news. Of course if we Saban'd this team as it stands we could probably free up like 15 more spaces.
? What are the California and Texas teams ranked higher than Inkster? I would be curious to see just how dominant CA, TX, and FL are when it comes to the best high school teams in the country.
Hmm Correction: The Lions will take anyone with a hearbeat.
Great episode Mark Wahlberg really made that episode though. Loved the way he kept shutting down Drama.
Good Stuff Anyone interested in creating a pro football fantasy league?
Well If you have a problem with a year old bump go see your primary care physician.
Well I will be upset if we suck. If we do not suck, I will not be upset. Please tell me how obvious it is I'm studying for the LSAT right now...
Righto Exactly. I think that recruiting this year is a lot more fluid (for better or worse) than it was last year or in previous years. We could have a solid amount of decommits if our record is as bad as last year's but on the flip side I think if we're 7 wins or above this year (maybe even just .500) than we'll be on a few high recruits radars that we weren't last year. I think we need to hope that A) We don't suck. B) If we do suck we don't suck too bad. C) If we suck really bad every recruit closes his eyes, sticks his fingers in his ears, and screams LALALALALA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU OR SEE YOU SO THIS ISN'T HAPPENING. Any one of those options and our recruiting will be better than people expect for this year.
Hmm Well the guys a drug dealer with a history of drug dealing dating back to high school so it does not appear that he has learned much of anything. I say throw him into the volcano and be done with it.
Where it's from The movie Burn After Reading. Brad Pitt says something along the lines of Jesus, fuck, no! Should we post a note on the lockers saying classified shit found?!?
well I would just like to see the Big Ten do well as a whole. I think if Michigan can dominate a strong conference it would add to the prestige of a championship.
Agreed Hopefully the Big Ten can get it together for their OOC schedule. OSU needs to get rid of Tressel if they ever hope to win a game after New Year's.
Greatest? If Kobe wins this championship, where does he rank all time? What about 2? 3? This is assuming he's the main option.
