I was one of the students that went in the President's house. One of my friends took a German beer out of his fridge.

Haskins hurdled that fool in…
  • Haskins hurdled that fool in the OSU game this year - at home
  • Trey Burke made "The Shot" - at Rockit in Chicago. We were on the 2nd floor and the whole floor shook.
  • Braylonfest became Braylonfest - in the student section with my brother's Sparty best friend who had been talking trash the whole game.
  • "I can't believe this! Roy Roooundtree!" - at a friend's place watching on a big screen
  • "TOUCHDOWN, MANNINGHAM! MICHIGAN WINS!" - at home
  • Jordan Poole ripped Houston's heart out - at a friend's place trying not to yell out to avoid waking his 8 month old baby
  • Jabrill's Heisman return against Rutgers was called back by a bogus flag - at home
  • DPJ streaked down the sidelines before hitting the Paul Bunyan pose. - at home
Maybe Beilein pointed out…

Maybe Beilein pointed out that ref was screwing Michigan for the 3rd game in a row that he officiated?

So 13 FGs to get Nordin a…

So 13 FGs to get Nordin a lot of practice in game situations?

Nothing beats a good burger…

Nothing beats a good burger. I have a similar "secret sauce" recipe I really like that adds chopped shallots and a 1/2 TBSP of pickling liquid.

Watching some of the NFL…

Watching some of the NFL games yesterday I noticed that they had commercials split screen with the game during stoppages in play. I don't know how much time that saves, but the NCAA needs to go to that to start. I'd love them to go the World Cup route, but I don't think we'll ever see that happen.

Michigan Bars

I live in between Diag and Duffy's and close to Matilda's. As most of the posters have mentioned Duffy's is really for the under 25 crowd and isn't affiliated with the Alumni Association. I do like the Diag, but on football game days you probably have to get there a couple hours early to get a seat - even more if it's a big game. Matilda's has been my go to because I can usually get a seat/table and they give away free stuff from Michigan brewers from time to time (I have some Bell's and Founder's glasses/koozies).

I went to West End a couple of times during the NCAA tournament this year and it was pretty good, but the last time I went during football season they chose to have the sound on for a Blackhawks game instead of for the Michigan game (it's been a couple years) and I haven't gone back for a football game since.

I've been to Rockit in River North for a number of games and that's pretty fun since the whole second floor is used for Michigan games. It's currently closed for renovations but I think it will be ready by football season. The Wrigleyville location is good too, but not as big.

Definitely

The first few possessions when Texas A&M had the ball you could see that Z was making him uncomfortable. To call yourself "unstoppable" before facing one of the best defensive PGs in the country was a huge mistake. Z was excellent.

Bollinger

This was my sophomore year and my roommate and I always hosted a BBQ for our group of friends and would get a keg of something. After the game ended we heard people out in the streets screaming and made our way to President Lee Bollinger's house where he allowed people to come in and celebrate. One of my friends took a beer from his fridge. Outside of the OSU game that year probably my favorite football memory.

Awesome

Looking forward to this series. This was my sophomore year and I don't know why but after the first game I thought it might be a special season so I kept all the ticket stubs and covers of the Daily after each game. Unfortunately they were lost in one of my moves, but my memory of that season is clear as any other.

A lot of talk

For a guy that doesn't seem like he'll be playing...

Head Coach Jim McElwain has announced that Jordan Scarlett and Rick Wells are suspended from all team activities.

You're right

I went back to some email conversations I had about the teams we might play and saw that Louisville was just slightly above Wisconsin in defesive rating, which gave me more confidence about beating them. Still a great performance against a great defense!

KenPom

The ratings I used were before the start of the tournament. They've been changing daily as the results have come in.

This team

Just beat the #1 offense and #1 defense on KenPom in two games. This team can run or they can grind it out in the halfcourt. They won yesterday because of defense and points in the paint, which I never would have expected for a Beilein team. This team has everything needed to get to the Final Four, and I've enjoyed watching it all happen over the last month or so. Go Blue!

Vegas

My brother in law is at a sports book in Vegas and freaked out when OK State hit that three. Then realizing he was drunk he sent us a picture and he bet Michigan to win straight up!

Franklin BBQ

I was lucky enough to get Franklin BBQ without waiting in line as they came to Chicago for a weekend popup over 4th of July last year. It was pricey (though the ticket included open bar for 3 hours), but it was delicious. No sauce needed.

I think my favorite responses to Brian were mostly people from the south saying "you think barbecue is a verb" type things.

How do you choose?

From so many great ones?

Thought these were interesting

I ate plenty of meals w/ @TreyBurke. I guess jail food is steak, chicken, salmon for dinner and omelette stations and waffles for brkfst

Not to mention to fresh smoothie bar and deli sandwiches every night

Magnuson

According to Magnuson, he's starting at QB.

Satellite Camps

Brian, have you heard anything about some of the assitant coaches grumbling about the schedule? Adam Rittenberg mentioned it this afternoon:

@nickbaumgardner @swmckewonOWH For sure. But already hearing some U-M assistants grumpy about this pace. Don't want too much staff turnover

Not that it makes a difference because Harbaugh runs the show and those that can't keep up will be on their way out, but just wanted to get your thoughts.

Well done, Sir.

"Oddly, there aren't full-season highlights of Slaton anywhere on his Hudl page or YouTube, and the single-game reels only feature scattered snaps at DT."

So many favorites

Pretty much everything on this page: http://mgoblog.com/content/one-frame-time-florida

Spike's heat check with Kate Upton after the title game.

Stauskas hitting a 3 at Illinois just before halftime as their fans chanted "U-S-A."

There's just too many to list here. In general, I'll miss the swagger those teams had. No matter who they were playing, those guys thought they were the best players on the court, and more often than not, they were.

This was

A great idea if it was for at most 3-4 possessions for each team. At half time I gave up on watching it, put the game on my iPad and just listened to it while playing FIFA.

Corley

Someone mentioned that Corley wore an OSU shirt the day before he committed to MSU. Hopefully Hill's saving his Michigan shirt for Wednesday.

At the end of the media

At the end of the media questions didn't Harbaugh say he was going to Baltimore yesterday? I wonder if that had anything to do with this.

Happy birthday Ace!

You've been a great addition to MGoBlog and your intros on the podcast never fail to make me smile/laugh.

Ace = Adam Scott/Tina Belcher

Ace, I may have been one of the first to suggest you sounded like Adam Scott/Tina Belcher (I believe it was on a live game chat a couple years ago), but it was primarily because you were making a very similar sound to this on a lot of the podcasts (and with good reason given the football team's performance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_XaIuw6K6Q

I'll also say that you mostly sound like Adam Scott the rest of the time.

107 Points

Alex, does the 107 points allowed also include the pick 6 that Utah scored?

Really enjoyed the article. Can't wait to see who's next.

So hungry...

Charles and Desmond.

ESPN3

ESPN3 on my tablet has a game between Alabama A&M and Alabama St.

Final Play

Brian,

Nick Baumgardner mentioned on Saturday that MSU should have been flagged on the final play for knocking down the long snapper immediately after the snap, when the rule says that 1 second has to be given (unless the center initiates contact). I didn't want to watch the play again but after he mentioned again this morning I had to do it. Thoughts?

NCAA Rule 9-1-2-o

When a team is in scrimmage kick formation, a defensive player may not initiate contact with the snapper until one second has elapsed after the snap (A.R. 9-1-2-XVIII-XX).

17-3 Michigan

The threat has arrived.

Targeting

I thought it was targeting as well but what I didn't understand is why they picked up the flag. Two guys clearly hit Rudock after he slid feet first.

"What is even"

"Stay low. Keep those feet moving." What a run.

Gerard

I wonder if she meant Gerard Pique. The Men in Blazers talk about how good looking that guy is all the time, and even his FIFA avatars are good looking.

Marshmallows

I was a freshman in 96 and clearly remember marshmallows being thrown around during the first few games. I spent a good hour walking around with marshmallow stuck to my shoes since they had melted in the blazing sun.

Prop Joe's take on Nike:

Nike Hockey Jerseys

Maybe they'd go back to something like this? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51BpV0qKbZL.jpg

Cam Cameron

Is the primary reason I wouldn't want Miles at Michigan. Looking at all the LSU players in the NFL that are doing well at RB/WR while LSU struggled to score points while they were on campus would be a major concern to me.

I'll Watch

Because it's Saturday and Saturdays in the fall are for Michigan football, for better or for worse. I'll watch because you know those players are working their asses off and trying to do better, even if they aren't being put in a position to succeed.

In terms of going to the games, I do hope that people that have tickets continue to go. I wonder about the effect it will have on players and recruiting if fans don't support the team even when the team is down.

Coach Dave Brandon

It's a parody account. Brandon's actual twitter is @DaveBrandonAD and he hasn't said a word about the football program in weeks.

Player Health

Hoke has been very irresponsible with the players this season. In the ND game there was no reason to leave Gardner/Funchess in so late in the game, and then the whole Morris thing today. Aside from the fact that left Morris in after he was clearly injured, you're telling me you can't call a timeout in a game you aren't trying to win anyway so that Gardner can come back in or Bellamy can find a helmet? That alone is enough to fire Hoke.

11-5?

So Willie Henry TD, safety and a FG? Because there's no way we're making 3 FGs.

Good to hear

That things are going better for you Ace. I have a few friends that are gluten free, so if you're looking for something to take the place of beer, Tito's Vodka is gluten free!

But seriously, I have family and friends with food allergies (one friend's son is allergic to corn, nuts and gluten), so making people aware of this is extremely important. Good luck going forward!

Trevor Siemian

No one considered his 4.38 40?

Michigan State 1990

My first Michigan memory was watching Desmond Howard get blatantly tripped in the end zone against Sparty in 1990. Our family had moved to Michigan a couple years before, but I wasn't truly aware of Michigan football until my cousin started going to school there that year, and it just happened to be the first game I ever watched.

My first game wasn't until a year later in 1991 against Purdue. I don't remember a lot of details except it being a blowout and cold, but that was the day I knew where I wanted to go to college. The highlight of that weekend was getting to meet some of the Fab Five, as my other cousin lived in West Quad and knew a few of them.

NU 2008

That was by far the worst weather experience I've ever had at a game. At halftime I was so miserable that I went into the MDen and bought a hoodie, a winter hat and a poncho. It didn't help that much but it was better.  A close 2nd is the Michigan-Northwestern game (at Northwestern)when Justin Fargas broke his leg. It wasn't as cold that day, but it was pouring and miserable.

1997 Ohio State

This was my sophomore year and I'll remember every detail of it forever. Two highly ranked teams, David Boston making it so that every single person in Michigan colors wanted to punch him, Woodson's return and interception, and how loud it was at the end of the game (my ears rang for hours afterwards). Naturally, we went to Bollinger's house after the game to celebrate.

Runners up: 2000 Orange Bowl, The Brayloning.
