Spot on. They had nothing at wide out. I'm hoping Stephen Hill can play more like his other GaTech cohorts at the same position. More like that guy in Detroit, but I'd settle for baybay Thomas too. |

They had the 2009 game on BTN last night... honestly it's almost as good as the UTL game. I mean, it's more watchable the whole way through anyway. UTL is painful to watch, but it is exhilerating to watch the 4th quarter. |

in a double header i got hit 5 total times.... 3 in the first game, 2 in the 2nd. My coach just took me out. Having coached Little league, the biggest issue i have is for the losing coach's pitch count. These days pitch counts are enforced and i imagine he must have had to throw everyone... which puts him at a disadvantage for future games if they fall within a few days. |

retiring, living in AA. Dear Faculty, Staff and Students, Ours is a university unlike any other, and there is no place I would rather be. I have told the Board of Regents that Michigan is where I wish to conclude my career. I will retire as president when my contract ends on July 31, 2014. The University of Michigan deserves the best in a leader, and I want to give the Board ample time to select the next president. I am committed to working with the Board members to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Leading the University of Michigan is the most challenging and rewarding work of my career. It is a tremendous privilege and one that continually energizes me. I am extremely proud of the work we have done, together, to make Michigan more vibrant, more accessible and more global. I fully anticipate the next 15 months will be like my previous 11 years - busy. I have often said I have the best job in higher education, and I look forward to continuing to work with faculty, students, staff and alumni in the upcoming year. When a new president is in place, my husband Ken and I plan to live in Ann Arbor and remain active in the community. We have always lived in college towns and there's really no place like Ann Arbor. We did not think twice about where we wanted to call home after the presidency. Today, it's much too soon for goodbyes. Instead, let's move forward and continue to advance the academic excellence of the University of Michigan. Sincerely, Mary Sue Coleman |

If this is for me i'll give you the quick answer (General Studies) and the tl;dr answer: I started off in the RC, and was pretty much undeclared- I knew i could take the courses i wanted to take, and retrofit a major at some point. RC Social Science was that way- but it required a research/thesis and I didn't have the time to put out a good product. So Iultimately decided to go BGS. I focused on marketing courses in the b school (fought to get into those), took accounting, EECS183, Public speaking in Schoo lof Kinesiology... i was all over the place. I basically mirrored Org Studies. |

Yeah I think it's very feasible to get back to NYC after Ross (one of the top destinations). I'm not in i-banking, i work in systems integration practice a major consulting company, and want to transition into either mgmt consulting or maybe even something marketing/technology focused. Basically, it comes down to- how much is Columbia's "brand" worth. |

Yeah Columbia isn't giving me anything, and michigan is giving me full tuition. Having a girlfriend complicates things a bit (not the deciding factor, but is a consideration). It's hard to ask her to uproot and move to Ann Arbor (she loves NYC, friends family etc.) I'm 28, she's 29 so the idea of moving to a "college town" isn't as sexy. Although, AA is more than just a college town IMHO. At any rate, i suppose these are "champagne problems". |

Yeah, i mean i went to U of M undergrad, and I absolutely loved it (obviously- who wouldn't?) Now I'm back in NYC (I grew up here) so NYC is certainly my kind of thing. I always found it annoying that offensive players can face mask in football (by stiff arming) I also hate the jump ball in college... i'd be okay with giving the "tie" to the defender, but i'd also be okay with making them actually jump for it. In baseball, they really should let the players play the game (w/r/t warning both sides without at least letting the other team retaliate once.) I think that's all i got. |

For the record, I agree with you 100%, but to make the case... you can hide being gay a lot easier than you can hide being black. You don't have to ask Jackie Robinson is he's black. In that sense it's not apples to apples. If all of a sudden a player comes out, it creates controversy, and it could disrupt the locker room a couple of different ways. And on the ideal team where your entire team could be okay with it, the media circus that would ensue could be an unwanted distraction. Just some thoughts. |

Michael Irvin said something similar, basically that with your hands far apart and poor technique, you make it easier for the defender to disrupt you, and it's harder to recover and bring your hands together in proper position to make the catch. Denard's got work to do, but it seems like he did what he needed to do to make his case. I'm just happy that he was able to perform at the level he did, considering he's competing at the highest level, at a completely different/new position. |

GaTech is a strong academic school as well, and yes, Georgia is definitely the school, probably followed by Alabama/Auburn in the state of Georgia. However, what exactly did Rutgers add in terms of fanbase? Georgia Tech is a strategic location... pretty much the capital of the south. If the move for Rutgers/Maryland made sense to B1G officials, I'd say the move for Georgia Tech makes sense. |
| 13 weeks 2 days ago | This was literally a |
This was literally a question. I'm not saying we should be fouling just to foul, I just don't know how important it is to "not foul". So we keep hearing "fewest fouls in the country" but how does that transition well, when I constantly see players getting uncontested looks in the paint? Maybe the solution isn't to foul... maybe it's just this last stretch, but it just seems like we can't seem to make it difficult to penetrate. Someone below mentioned the over-comitting on double teams, and I have to say I agree, we seem flat-footed at times on defense, which leads to points in the paint (particularly when our big men are away or out of position.) McGary hustles his ass off, and i think generally our big men are underrated. I really was asking this as a question, though. |

I'd be curious to look at the numbers, but atke D'antoni as an example... aren't his offenses known to shoot the basketball prettyearly on the shot clock? So Points per possesion might be identical, but there are significantly more possessions. Anecdotally, i felt like a standard score in the 80s/90s would be 88-82. It seems much higher now. Also, I think the rules in the league have allowed for things like excessive offensive handchecking. I think the league favors scoring. That said I'm not an expert, but I'd be curious if there was any literature out there that evidenced this assertion. |

It doesn't get called much in the NBA, because players dont really do it. Why? you can get hurt. the NBA season is a long one... you start to see it a little more in the playoffs, but in all, you can get hurt doing it... which further evidences your point. I think the charge has some value, but it needs to be reevaluated. As noted above, you can't get a charge called for sliding under after a player has left his feet... that's ridiculous. |

Wilton Speight - QB - Richmond (VA) Collegiate: The 6'6", 217-pounder has no offers at this time. Speight might be the sleeper of the group. I like the way he throws the ball under pressure. Sometimes it's unbelievable how accurate he is with guys in his face, but to be honest, it seems like he's in a habit of throwing off his back foot because of a porous offensive line. He barely has a chance to breathe before two or three defenders are in his face. He's a little too stiff in the pocket for my liking and will struggle to avoid college rushers; he lacks great arm strength and has a little bit of a hitch in his delivery. He just looks very unpolished. I could see him going somewhere like Texas Tech or Washington State and lighting it up a few years down the road, but I don't think he's a good fit for Michigan. http://touchthebanner.blogspot.com/2013/02/scouting-report-2014-quarterb... EDIT: not trying to call out TTB or Magnus, just saying that's where I'd seen a similar player evaluation. additionally, Magnus does offer some explanation as to why his tosses might be off the mark, or not as impressive (the poor O-Line.)

Anyone else kept feeling the dong punch from ESPN, calling out Ohio's record vs michigan in football, MBB, and evein Women's BB? Someone else mentioned it as well, but when I saw "Top 10 nominee" on Craft's three pointer, i about lost it. And, the last play of the game wasn't even a blatant foul, even without a "make-up" call. You simply don't get that call in that situation (or most others with good officiating.) |

I think it'd be a huge disadvantage if we revert back to QBs who can't run. The game has changed, it's important to have a dual threat. We may not need to go as far as a Denard Type, but I really hope Devin Gardner's performance and style of play next year makes coaches re-think the statue QB, even if he can just scramble and have 5 or so designed runs per game. |

I get your point, but at the same time why is there virtually only one path to the NFL (amateurism)? You don't have to go through NCAA to play professional baseball or soccer. Why can't athletes capitalize off their skill sets, while Athletic departments can? |

Wait is that for me? On my iPhone can't tell.. Dude, I tried being civil with you but you constantly resort to childish responses to my posts. You're getting worked up over nothing. You've had about 30 posts today and i still don't understand what your concern/beef/issue is. Clearly state your point, read people's counterpoints, respect others opinions, defend your argument etc., but no need to be immature. |

Waiting for counter argument... Probably "but said politician said there were stories, I need examples of someone who had this happen WHILE IN COLLEGE" (b/c CTE's are instantaneous. |
| 16 weeks 3 days ago | First of all you're twisting |
First of all you're twisting his point. He's generally saying it's risky. With risk, what do you think about? Reward- is it worth risk? His point is valid... what DO they have to fall back on wheter it be CTE or any other serious injury? (I'm expanding it beyond CTE, because it's just as relevant.) So his point to me seems, at least dudes are getting paid. I think you're just attacking something to attack it, and you're getting really defensive about it because few people share your passion for this statement. |
| 16 weeks 3 days ago | Well i was in the midst of |
Well i was in the midst of editing my comment, but basically, Concussions? I can't really name too many, but career ending injuries... absolutely there are plenty of examples. My point is essentially (slight variation to your topic) is why shouldn't these kids be compensated now for a rare skill they have? Free tuition isn't a fair trade. One example, Tyrone Prothro, star Wide out... now a bank teller in Tuscaloosa after snapping his leg during a play. http://www.aolnews.com/2010/09/30/five-years-later-ex-alabama-star-tyron... |
| 16 weeks 3 days ago | Can anybody think of a single |
I know this belief is contrary to popular opinion, but I'll attempt to express myself anyway. Many, many, many college football players would not qualify (academically) at the major universities they represent. That doesn't mean they're not up to the task in the classroom, but of these students a great number still view themselves as at the university as a stop gap before joining the NFL. On many occasions said athletes don't attend class or take it seriously. The problem here is that many of these students need to put in extra time to stay competitive in the classroom, or often times, spend so much time in athletics, it's unreasonable to ask them to compete in the classroom. I guess to end my rant: Many student athletes (particularly football, which typically generates the bulk of Revenue for ADs) are not able to take full advantage of this "free tuition". They have a rare skill set, and in my opinion, should be compensated accordingly. If you explain the economics of college athletics to a foreigner, they'll scratch their heads. |

It definitely happens, i mean it happened to us (Fab Five.) it's happened at Ohio State, and it certainly happens in the SEC. The question you should really ask is... why haven't they gotten caught? I wish I knew the answer, but I will say, if you look at Tennesee as one example. Three players held a person at gunpoint, and the fan didn't want serious repercussions, stating he wanted the players to stay on the team. http://www.aolnews.com/2009/11/13/corey-zickefoose-tennessee-football-vi...

I personally didn't like the comments, but who am I to judge*. if Harbaugh were to say, win a few superbowls, and want to coach Michigan once Brady Hoke was done, I'd be up for it. *Harbaugh knew Bo, Michigan coaches, and sacrificed a lot more than I have for Michigan athletics. |

| 16 weeks 6 days ago | I'd say no. I don't agree |
I'd say no. I don't necessarily agree with LightTheLamp. I think he lasts longer than 3 games, but his career wouldn't be very long. He also will have similar issues (learning to block among them.) Sure his draft status may have dropped, but going to RB won't rise his draft status and increase the amount of money on his first contract. I think he's just going to have to dedicate himself to route running. I think his hands will be fine, but he needs to be crisp with the routes. In short I think he'll have a better, longer career at WR / Slot than if he went to RB. He's going to be an investment, but could wind up being a steal in this draft. His route running is underdeveloped, yet he still can gain separation from his defenders. |

Bearish. a Bull is optimistic... Think Merrill Lynch's logo, or the bull on wall street. I agree- he is a high ceiling guy (just like when he was at QB, he had a higher ceiling than did Tate.) He's had a handful of snaps at a new position competing against top level competition. Look at DG, he struggled at the very same thing (route running). My guess is, if you think DR will be drafted early, you're probably in for a surprise. However, i think late enough, DR could wind up being a steal, especially for football teams that are good at building players up. With coaching and experience, he could be a great asset for a football team. |

I'm impressed that despite poor route running, he's able to get a good deal of separation from top CB prospects. Goes to show you, if you look at DG's struggles at route running, it takes time and it's not easy. I know Denard will put in the work, he just needs a team that will take the chance. |

But it's weird... So his grandma dies and one of the first thing he thinks of is to say "hey, great time for my fake girlfriend to die... before i get caught." Like that wouldn't blow up in his face? Early in my conversation with the source, the Notre Dame player said, “He lied, but the media blew it up.” In response to my follow-up question asking if the source thought that Te’o kept the story going because of the media attention, the player replied, “Yeah. Right after the Michigan [State] game. He should have never brought her in the media. His grandma passing was enough.” |

He'd been a victim in HS to something similar, a group of guys created a fake screen name (this was like 1999) and had an online relationship with him for a few months. This of course, was before having skype or anything like that was common place. I don't know if i do or do not believe Te'o, but I doubt he invented this to win a heisman.
