that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

Reasons columbus is actually a better place to live than Ann arbor..
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Missing||
Where is the decision box asking if you are a porn star?
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Dove||
I'm not sure if its internal brainwashing, or the marketing MBA but I may be a little too into the kool-aid. I do believe a corporation can try to acquire good will that will bring top of mind presence when a consumer faces purchasing decisions.
Example - Dove's recent ad campaign for 'real beauty'. Sure - they want to sell you soap, but their message is that they are a company that supports men and women of all shapes sizes and colors.
Nationwide is trying to send a message that they care about children - obviously there are alot of people who are not receptive to the message coming from an insurance company.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Nationwide Ad||
Disclaimer: I'm biased because I work there. I had nothing to do with the commercial, but I do understand where we are coming from.
The reality is that children die every day because of preventable accidents. Read more from the CDC. Nationwide does alot of things I'm not proud of, but speaking up for children is one they do reliably, respectably, consistently, and more than any other - financially.
Children's Hospital in Columbus (the premier childrens hospital in central ohio) is now named after Nationwide for a $50 million dollar grant.
They aren't trying to sell you insurance with the ad, if they were they would have stuffed 'Chicken Parm, you taste so good' down your throat.
Instead they are trying to raise awareness where others have not. An ad about texting and driving would fall in the same vein, in my opinion - but its been done.
Its not just a front, the company sends out internal literature to employees - and its not a sales pitch - the corprate discount ensures any non-call center staff will at least get a quote.
As far as the criticim as to 'tell me how to prevent it, dont fear monger' - SB ad time is a little expensive, if you really want to learn about simple steps you can take around your house -

I did it for the twins and it was well-received; I couldn't let Ethan one day go searching for his and ask why the twins got one but he didn't :p
I can't wait till the 3 of them pick out their own mgoblog handles!
The readership of the site has grown tremendously, so you may be correct that it's not sensible to have tons of posts- but sometimes I feel like mgoboard is more of a family than just a news blog.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||zone d||
People use the term zone D, but a zone defense still implies the same number on defense as on offense?
Wouldn't a better analogy be power play defense??
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Understand||
It might have been user friendly to add class of 2032 to the title.... I'm guessing all the downvotes had more than your very very very little hate!
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Actually, Nope||
Actually, the experience with Ethan has been so different than with the twins, I'm not sure what to do with myself. I haven't put together the crib or installed the carseat, all that was to be done this weekend :/ Ethan is eating well from the breast, has had multiple bowel movements, and seems to like to sleep. Knock on wood, things are looking great.
But MGOWife is sleeping (that didn't happen with the twins) so I've collected my COC resources, posted to FB and MGoBlog, and am now going to nap. I feel I'm in some twilight zone hospital episode.
Had I planned the post better, the last line would have been:
WHO HAS IT BETTER THAN US??
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Mad Dog||
Hoping he doesn't discover 40's for many many years. His sister was walking at 9 months, so lets hope there is 0 correlation between the two.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||mgowife||
MGoWife made them for the twins 23 months ago. I couldn't find the custom shirts we had made :/ Oh well, they cried a ton putting on the shirts last time.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||but||
But no 40 time, lets hope he doesn't discover them till college.
|14 weeks 3 days ago||um||
I'm guessing with that avatar hes actually a dude?
-edit - my bad. I thought you were responding to the post above. Ignore me.
|14 weeks 5 days ago||Superfluous||
If it were somehow tangentally related to UM, I'd be more inclined to agree. If they were michigan bikini's, your wife, or an avid known fan of the university (read Ms. Upton) then I'd understand. But what value does 2 random girls in a bikini really add to your persona or the site?
I personally won't mind until the day when the site is blocked by the corporate webwasher as 'swimsuit/lingerie'...

I had a wedding during the game yesterday and my dvr didn't have space. It sounds like I didn't miss much.
Did we even try running with drake Johnson? Was last week a fluke or are we saving him for Maryland?
|32 weeks 1 day ago||good luck||
I can't speak to having newborns at football season, but my twins were born right before the burke tourney run. I caught some, dvr'd the rest.. avoided Facebook and my phone to miss spoilers.
the first2-3 months sucked, and life is so different. I'm typing this message with baby girl(18 months) on my chest in a rocking chair now.
I've got the twins able to raise their hands for touchdown, but they have no clue what it means.
only valuable advice i have is Ignore all advice and survive. second, sleep whenever you can. work sucks on 90 minutes sleep a night.
I've got a 3rd on the way in January (Dr's said less that 1% chance we'd ever get pregnant naturally so I'm already slating the little man to play in Wimbledon one day..) but I've heard 1 is way less difficult than twins. let's hope they are right!!
I got a box of mgohandmedowns from mgobloggers, the wife was really touched by that.
it's great to welcome another wolverine to the family!
|42 weeks 3 days ago||utah||
I'm shocked no one else is hoping one of the three end up with Trey in Utah.. unless LeBron comes back to Cleveland to fulfill his commitment,watching a team of former Um players is about the only thing that would get me to watch a game.
Oh yeah, or LeBron losing if he decides not to come back

Why isn't this on the front page? Are Brian and company trying to decide what the opposite of muppets are?

Posted a thread on this last week.

Commmit the 6th foul at 23 seconds. Hold a non 70+% shooter on the inbounds for the 7th.

|1 year 2 weeks ago||Brady||
Did people crucify Brady when he went for 2 against OSU?
I understand the arguments against it, but I feel like we were playing not to lose, rather than to win.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||True||
However, if I recall correctly, they only had 1 offensive rebound from a missed free throw all game? Rebounding FT's is significantly easier for the non-shooting team.
|1 year 3 weeks ago||missed FT||
Imagine the shock of people who were betting on it..

Yet the tix were outrageous. KY-UL fans paid for both but only went to one?
|1 year 3 weeks ago||not a cigar guy||
But this feels like a moment for one.
Watch our next opponent, switching between that and getting the pleasure of either seeing MSU lose, or 3 of the elite 8 from the big ten.
Having watched 0 games before the tourney of either team, I don't know who I'd prefer to play. Brian prefered UK right?

With a 10, 11, 7 and either 11 or 14 all in the sweet sixteen,does this year's tourney have possibly the highest average of all sweet 16s?
