My point is that very few coaches do it well, and that no one can do it as well as Rodriguez.

It appears we have gotten the preeminent spread football head coach.  He already left his alma mater and he won't go to the NFL.  What job is better than Michigan at the college level?  There are lateral moves but going to the SEC is insane.  Quit acting like a State fan, "ooh I'm scared my coach is going to leave after two nine win seasons"

I'm confused

why, as in "scenarios" one and two, is rich rod building a quality program and leaving the worse thing in the world? Obviously we, as michigan fans, are used to having one coach for a very long time and you do want stability.

That's not your argument is it? Yours is that when he leaves we will be in trouble (flounder even) trying to find a coach who can manage a team based entirely on the spread.

8 out of 11 teams in the big 10 run some sort of spread. the spread is not limited to big 10 teams. I don't think we'd have to look that hard.

dex and the others covered everything else, i suppose i'm just nitpickin here.

rosters i keep hearing that naming the rosters screws it up in dynasty mode. is that only for ps3 online or would it affect ps2 dynasty. cuz me and 6 other guys are going to be playing a dynasty and we're kinda anal retentive about the names
could be any sportswriter

are there any good ones out there?  All of them seem to be intent on presenting the "your favorite team sucks and heres why" article.  They are so scared of being called a homer that they will villify the home team.

National Sportswriters aren't any better.  They either state the obvious or cling to a pet theory that takes Brian all of five minutes to debunk.

I cannot remember the last time a read an article in the newspaper and thought it was well written.

That was my first game 2nd grade, excited as hell, and wham.
True Everyone defends their own. But what our we burying our heads in the sand about RichRod (not an invitation WVU troll)? We all admit he uses blue language. He owes WVU 4 million. Okay, so what. If he had to pay it all and he only had 1 million and for some reason there was a clause in his contract that said if we lost to Utah by 35 points that he'd get 3 million, then I think we could infer what the score would be. It's not the protecting their own I have a problem with its the "there is no problem and if there is everyone else does it" defense.
Who do you sit with? The Ohio State Michigan games I have gone to I have always sat a couple rows away from some Ohio State fans so no real chance to observe. I think it would be true hell to be watching the game with a MSU fan. The proceeding game would have been us beating State 28-24. All throughout this game he would laugh as our corners get burnt continually. I bring up the fact that we beat them and he'd inform me that some call that went our way in the 2nd quarter affected the entire game and that State would destroy us if they played us again. Have this conversation everytime something bad happens to Michigan. God that was the worst game ever.
what is the argument? That he wasn't cut? True, there is nothing to report that, but it is obvious. All you have to do is read Brians posts on the matter. The thing of it is, Brian could have posted that two weeks ago. Brian should go and post who got "cut" before they actually do, it wouldn't be that hard to guess who will lose the game of musical chairs here. No, there is no proof, except for the fact that it needed to happen. RichRod didn't need Mallet to leave, he may have wanted him to. Saban needed that kid to go.
QB- Driesbach after he lost QB- Driesbach after he lost his confidence (he was a poor mans bellasari after that) platooning with Wisconsin Mallet RB- Ed "two yard" Davis FB- Evan Coleman (I think thats right, the guy who dropped a touchdown pass against Syracuse?) Wr- Wisconsin Manningham Wr- Bellamy Te- Massaquoi Defense Lbs-Mclintock, Graham, Crable Dbs- Howard, Curry bro's, Bad Lesuer, Shazor. Kicker- Brabbs Punter- Iowa Formation PR- Whitley KR- A Curry Opposing team: McNabb, Kustoc, Edwards platoon. Damien Anderson, Beanie Wells, and Duckett run over us. David Boston and every single Usc wide receiver to ever score on us gets to play. Which bring us to the line. My defensive line would be a rotating front of Branch, Woodley, Renes, Feazell, Carr, Graham. My O-Line features greats such as Hutch, Jansen, Backus, Long and Jumbo. And none of it matters because we are playing against USC's o-line and d-line and the next time we get pressure on USC's qb or protect our statue throwing will be the first time I have ever seen us do that against USC. Sun Belt officiates.
Running Game/Strong Defense Lloyd played as if he had a solid running game ( in spite of opposing teams picking apart the Zone Blocking ) and a Solid Defense ( in spite of the defense getting gassed ) For the 12(13?) years that he was our coach we normally did have a strong run game and solid defense. It makes sense that he played as if he had a strong running game, he did. I wonder if you were one of the fans next to me that got all excited when we opened against Iowa in 2003 in a five wide set(it turned out, abandoning the run wasn't the best idea). In the years or games in which we were stopped in the run or had a porous defense then yes, Lloyd did struggle. And as much as Rich Rod seems like he can handle making adjustments I think even he would have problems if his main offensive theory (running the ball) was stopped and his defense sucked. In fact, I think every coach in the world would have problems with that scenario. Do you really think that if Lloyd had called Rich Rod on the phone at halftime and asked him what to do that we would have won? We couldn't run, we couldn't stop the pass and we had no time to throw. You take a half of a game and judge a mans entire career by it. How about you take a look at the 2nd half of the Orange Bowl against Alabama. That was an adjustment and it was possible because we had protection. Or does that not fit your little pet theory?
UNC isn't bad

UNC was 4-8 last year with 6 of their losses coming by 7 or less.  For some reason I watched three of their games last year (instead of whatever MAC game was on ABC) and they were young, made stupid turnovers but they were athletic.  They were just as athletic as Miami.

If it comes down to all things being equal, I gotta give Butch Davis the edge over Charlie Wies in terms of playcalling.
