Some of one of those things - highly motivated - has to do with them being more intense. But the rest of that, and the other things - better prepared, competent gameplan - goes right back to better coaching.

I think these tweets have quite a bit of hindsight revisionism. Newspapers need to assign a narrative to the game, and MSU is obsessed with Michigan, so when MSU wins it was because of the obsession.
The real reason MSU has dominated this rivalry recently is because they've had better teams. MSU lived for this game before Dantonio was their coach, but they ususally lost anyway because Michigan was the better team. However, since Lloyd retired, MSU has usually had the better team over the whole season. And (suprise!) they usually ended up winning this game too. I think very little of the outcome Saturday will have to do with intensity of mid-week presser quotes and a lot more to do with which team has better coaching.

You got tickets after it changed to a donation based system. Prior to that, it was a list that you actual had to wait on until your turn until your turn came up after enough people died/stopped renewing their tickets. It was supposedly like 20 years long in the early '00s, and I remember signing up after graduating even though I was moving to the other side of the country just in case I was back in the area when my name finally came up - if I waited until I actually moved back to sign up, I might never get tickets.
But then Martin switched to the priority points based system, and he and especially Brandon jacked up prices and PSLs until they burned though any waiting list people who might pay more than exisiting customers, and now there is no wait as long as you have enough priority points. It was great for next quarter's revenue while things were going well, but it killed fan loyalty for times times like right now. Why renew tickets during bad seasons when you can just save your money and buy your way back on when things are going well? It's not like the athletic department will care about your loyalty if they think someone else might pay more once things are going well again.

Actually if you RTFA, WWJ CBS TV had it first and ESPN is "scooping" it from there. And "it" is a statement from Denise Ilitch, a regent. From the article:
So this isn't just some random rumor made up on a message board, regents are saying things to media outlets.

While Stauskas led the team in 3PT% last year, we still are getting back three other guys who shot over 40% (Irvin, Walton, and LeVert), along with Spike at 38%. I think three point shooting will be the least of our problems this year.

As someone that was watching on TV, I think camera angle has something to do with it. When the camera pans over, you get a couple seconds of the safety camping out for an easy INT with Funchess seemingly too far behind to make a difference. But just when you start groaning LOL TD OUT OF NOWHERE

While it's totally understandable that the offensive line wouldn't be good, it still shouldn't be this bad. And it was bad last year too, even when we had two tackles that went on to get drafted by the third round. It wasn't particularly good the year before either. And it's not like the offensive line is the only problem - none of the skill position players are distinguishing themselves (and Devin Gardner seems to be getting worse), and the defense seems to be getting worse every year.
Expectations for the O-line should be lowered because of the issues you mentioned. But all the vitriol on the blog is due to the many, many issues the team has beyond the O-line. If the only issue was the offensive line being subpar, people on this blog would be a lot happier.

If a businessman takes over running a football team and does a poor job, and then the fans successfully have him ousted, other fanbases of teams being poorly run by businessmen might get ideas.

People who need rawk music during every break in play can get that at a minor league baseball game, and they can take the whole family for less than face value of a Michigan ticket. In the mean time, Michigan Stadium is still the only place to hear the Michigan Marching Band play during the game, but that's slowly getting phased out. Somehow this athletic department thinks killing what makes you unique to chase the lowest common denominator will increase demand, but why would it when you can get the same experience elsewhere for much cheaper?

While the main reason for the problems is bad coaching hires, a big part of the reason they were bad coaching hires (or good coaching hires that went bad here) is instituational vanity. I really wonder how RichRod would have done if he would have received the same instituational, financial, and fan support that Hoke received on day one. But alas, he wasn't a Michigan Man, and the AD assumed we didn't need to pay much for coordinators because it was an honor to coach at Michigan. And as to Hoke, the entire reason behind hiring a coach with a 47-50 career record was institutional vanity - no other blue blood program have even considered him. But he was the best Michigan Man available, and apparently that was all that mattered to us.

In his defense, the title would be hard to find in a search. it was "OT: Sparty student section vacant". Why would the OP ever look for a title like that?

Ugh, this means winning a few more games is bad news. If Hoke manages sneak into a bowl at 6-6, we're going to be going through The Process in January again.

While it's the medical staff's job to quickly diagnose the injury, it's the coach staff's job to make sure they get diagnosed when they need help to stand up straight after taking a hit to the head and not let them play until they are diagnosed. Which leads back to Hoke again.

While he's certainly started to lay a nice foundation at a traditionally moribund program, he probably needs to win a few games before he's on the radar.

I don't remember anything like this in 2010 (might have been pointless since there were no non-Michigan Men being discussed), but we definitely did this in 2007.

FYI I did go to my discrete math for pretty much the entire semester, but I don't think I actually learned anything. I somehow did great on the final anyways, and that was the last time I ever used anything I didn't learn in that class. So you didn't miss much.

I don't know about that. Williams probably would have lasted the season if not for his "lost control of the team" answer. Hoke is too proficient in non-answers to say something that stupid.

Goddammit I thought having to listen to former players snipe at the program was done when we got rid of Rodriguez. I'm sick we have to deal with this crap again. Way to kick the program when it's down.

FWIW I'm pretty sure we tried one against ND, but it got blown up because of the timing issues you mentioned. Sheldon Day got to Gardner before the screen was set up because the lineman over him (IIRC Magnusson) barely touched him before releasing. Or maybe it was some sort of WR screen, but in real time I thought it was supposed to be to an RB.

But it shouldn't be hard to justify it if he has an actual valid reason for doing it. So far the only reason he has provided is featuring his punter, which is crap, which is why it keeps coming up.

This sounds good in hindsight, but the same thing could have been said about the first half of the Akron game last year. Akron didn't really belong in the game either in the first half, but then we kept turning the ball over and they started making a few plays and suddenly we had a ballgame on our hands. If the coaches really knew we were going to stomp them they should have agressively stomped them on 4th down and got some breathing room on the scoreboard. A one score differential at halftime is legitimate life too.

|5 weeks 4 days ago||The problem isn't that he was||
The problem isn't that he was addressing people attacking the players, the problem is that he was doing it in response to a question about people unhappy with the coaching staff. Instead of addressing the question he deflected it and made it sound like anyone unhappy with the coaching staff
