- Apple intentionally designed the software so that they wouldn't be able to get the data off of it, because encrypted data protection is pointless if there is a backdoor to it.
- The FBI wants access to the data on that one iPhone, and got a judge to order Apple to create a modified operating system that doesn't lock out users after multiple incorrect unlock attempts. Presumably they will install this OS on the iPhone in question and then brute force unlock it.
- Apple doesn't want to do this because the government can then use this same operation system to unlock any iPhone, and this is problematic because they made the strong encryption abilties a selling point. Customers that bought an iPhone in part because of the device protections would be understandably pissed, and Apple would prefer to not piss off customers.

Yeah, as others have mentioned, he was pretty far removed from the national title by the time he arrived here, and was most remembered for the terrible tenure at Syracuse that he had just finished. The initial reaction was less than stellar. So I don't know how this can be a 180 if he tenure turned out pretty much like everyone expected when he was hired.

|6 weeks 1 day ago||I didn't like that one either||
I didn't like that one either because that set a precedent for moves like this, but at least Hopkins is D3 in most sports with the one glaring exception that needed a landing spot. ND would be a great addition to the Big Ten in most sports, but they only want to join when it's convenient for them.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||This would be stupid if they||
This would be stupid if they let ND join for just one sport. One of the biggest strengths of the Big Ten is nobody getting special treatment. If they want to be an east coast school, let them be an east coast school. For all sports.
But after Rutgers, I wouldn't put anything past Delaney.

The problem in the Bahamas wasn't lack of people cheering their asses off. It was lack of being able to shoot the ball through the hoop.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||The circumstances around it||
The circumstances around it are weird, but I like the move because at least one of the second-tier B1G programs is finally taking that BTN money and trying. This is 100x better than taking yet another MAC coach with a couple decent seasons and trying to tell everyone this guy is the one that will be the next Urban Meyer. This is something a lower-tier SEC program would do to try to make a splash and move up in the world.
Which means it probably won't work out, because apparently no coach ever works out at Illinois. But if every B1G team went after big names like this, most of them would work out and the whole conference would be better off.

Put the new diaper under the old diaper. Then after you're done wiping the baby up, you remove the old diaper and the new diaper is already there to catch anything. No race against time.

I don't know, but apparently the FBI think so. I'm guessing if they have an unencrypted system partition and a separate data partition that is encrypted it might be possible, but I'm just spitballing there. I don't know enough about encryption or how it's implemented on the iPhone to really say for sure.

It shows players are forced to sit on the bench for a much larger amount of time due to auto-bench than due to fouling out.
|15 weeks 1 day ago||I always assumed it was moved||
I always assumed it was moved to drive, or at least retain, cable subscription. After all, if you need cable to watch certain can't-miss events, you're more likely to pay for cable. The TV execs didn't care if it had marginally fewer viewers because any lost advertising revenue was made up in cable fees, and the sports execs don't care because they were getting paid either way. Or at least the sports execs didn't care until cord cutters caused the ratings to drop so much that ESPN and company aren't going to pay as much anymore.

This probably won't be popular because MSU, but I think the Jack Allen one has to win. Watching him just throw away the linebacker like he's a child sets it apart from the rest.

|24 weeks 2 days ago||The reason that there aren't||
The reason that there aren't any flags is because the QB is supposed to get down well before the defense has a chance to hit him. But since Rudock keeps trying to stretch it to get extra yards before he slides he is getting the worst of both worlds, where he doesn't get the protection that is supposed to be the whole point of sliding and doesn't get all the yards he would if he stayed up. If he is going to slide, he needs to get down earlier.

He can recruit. It would be interesting at least, which is more than can be said about the last guy. Didn't they pass on Leach the list time around?

|25 weeks 6 days ago||Yeah, I was going to chime in||
Yeah, I was going to chime in on this too. The only way Penn St. was scoring was if they got a short field, and Iowa was backed up to their own goal line and punting out of the end zone. The odds of getting off a good punt are low, and the chances of something disastrous happening are high. Iowa had shut down the Penn St. offense all day, the chances of them getting a field goal without good field position were so much lower than something going horribly wrong with the pressure punt. It made sense at the time, and hindsight only confirmed it.
