- Apple intentionally designed the software so that they wouldn't be able to get the data off of it, because encrypted data protection is pointless if there is a backdoor to it.
- The FBI wants access to the data on that one iPhone, and got a judge to order Apple to create a modified operating system that doesn't lock out users after multiple incorrect unlock attempts. Presumably they will install this OS on the iPhone in question and then brute force unlock it.
- Apple doesn't want to do this because the government can then use this same operation system to unlock any iPhone, and this is problematic because they made the strong encryption abilties a selling point. Customers that bought an iPhone in part because of the device protections would be understandably pissed, and Apple would prefer to not piss off customers.

Did someone submit a badly formatted post to the Home Brew Wednesdays thread? In Chrome for me, the page loads way off to the left with no scroll ability. I'm wondering if the mods can go in and fix whatever post broke the page.

My wife got me a starter brewing kit a few year ago for my birthday, and the stuff that came with it was ok. It didn't help that the types that came with the kit weren't what I would have picked on my own. Plus it was from extract instead of from scratch, which felt like cheating but I don't even know where to begin starting from scratch. In the end, it just seemed easier to try lots of different stuff from the store rather than try to make my own stuff that might not even be very good.
So what say you, people who actually brew from scratch. How hard is it to actually brew beer starting from scratch rather than from extract? And how hard is it to make beer that won't make me regret not buying good stuff from the store?

2004 - Purdue was an undefeated, top 5 ranked team that had Gameday on campus for their game against undefeated Wisconsin. Then this happened:
And then the next week this happened (go to 6:59 if the embed doesn't work right):
And then the whole program pretty much went in a death spiral and never recovered.

Let's try without any googling:
1.) Which of the following players averaged the most yards per punt in his Michigan career?
a.) Blake O’Neill b.) Will Hagerup c.) Zoltan Mesko d.) Tate Forcier
Although I'm tempted to take Tate because his punt(s) had no returners back and got to roll
2.) Gerald Ford replaced Richard Nixon as president. Whom did he replace as Vice President? (this question is inspired by current events but is in no way an endorsement of a political party or of being vice president)
3.) Which of the following players led the MBB 1989 national championship team in rebounds per game?
a.) Glen Rice b.) Loy Vaught c.) Terry Mills d.) Rumeal Robinsion e.) Sean Higgins
4.) What Michigan running back gained 128 yards against Ohio State in 1990 and coached Michigan safety Jarrod Wilson in high school?
5.) Michigan women’s basketball team last made the NCAA Tournament in what year?
a.) 1999 b.) 2004 c.) 2009 d.) 2013 e.) they have never made the Tournament
6.) Michigan’s softball team last failed to win the Big Ten regular season championship in what year?
a.) 2002 b.) 2007 c.) 2011 d.) 2014 e.) they have won it every year
7.) Who started at quarterback for Bo’s last Rose Bowl winning team?
8.) Who were the last two left-handed quarterbacks to start for Michigan?
Drew Henson, Rick Leach?
9.) Sierra Romero won Big Ten Player of the Year how many times?
10.) Which MBB player has the most triple-doubles in Michigan history?
a.) Gary Grant b.) Darius Morris c.) Manny Harris d.) Derrick Walton e.) Caris LeVert

Let's see what I can get off the top of my head without searching or peeking at anyone else's answers:
1.) Michigan St.
2.) Brandon Minor
3.) Lavell Blanchard
4.) Derrick Alexander
5.) I can't remember and will be immediately upset about it when the answer is posted
6.) Nik Stauskas
8.) No clue
9.) Michigan won on the final play of the 1990 OSU football game thanks to a FG by what kicker?
EDIT: Now that I've scanned other answers, I'm counting #5 as correct

I'd like to add Navarre to Ecker, 2003 vs. OSU. After Michigan dominated the start of The Game, OSU crept back within a touchdown in the 4th quarter after the Michigan offense had been stagnant for a while. The stadium was getting uneasy at the prospect of giving OSU the ball back with a chance to tie the game when this happened: (Go to 3:12 if the embed doesn't work right)
Chris Perry would score a few plays later and the rest of The Game would never be in doubt, sending Michigan to the Rose Bowl.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||The problem with this is that||
The problem with this is that the other side won't keep their heads down and mouths shut about satellite camps, they're running their mouths in an active attempt to shut down the satellite camps. And they would have succeeded if it weren't for people like Harbaugh making the case on why they shouldn't be banned. It's best to take the high road when you can, but some times you need to fight back.

Ohio St. just throws everything off in that chart because they are currently way ahead of everyone nationally. But if you look at the national ranks, Michigan is closer to #3 LSU than #11 Iowa. Also, Michigan is likely to land quite a few high ranking recruits between now and signing day, while Iowa and the rest of Tier 2 are unlikely to land many. So even though that chart makes it look like Michigan is close to the rest of Tier 2 at this time, the tea leaves are pointing to the final results looking like last year with OSU and Michigan well ahead of the pack in the B1G.

Except, at least according to the preview from last week, Notre Dame was a top-25 team and Miami wasn't nearly that good, but they got shipped to Ann Arbor for travel distance reasons rather than seeding reasons. So it really was an upset, or at least a surprise.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||Yeah, as others have||
Yeah, as others have mentioned, he was pretty far removed from the national title by the time he arrived here, and was most remembered for the terrible tenure at Syracuse that he had just finished. The initial reaction was less than stellar. So I don't know how this can be a 180 if he tenure turned out pretty much like everyone expected when he was hired.

|22 weeks 3 days ago||I didn't like that one either||
I didn't like that one either because that set a precedent for moves like this, but at least Hopkins is D3 in most sports with the one glaring exception that needed a landing spot. ND would be a great addition to the Big Ten in most sports, but they only want to join when it's convenient for them.
|22 weeks 3 days ago||This would be stupid if they||
This would be stupid if they let ND join for just one sport. One of the biggest strengths of the Big Ten is nobody getting special treatment. If they want to be an east coast school, let them be an east coast school. For all sports.
But after Rutgers, I wouldn't put anything past Delaney.

The problem in the Bahamas wasn't lack of people cheering their asses off. It was lack of being able to shoot the ball through the hoop.
|24 weeks 1 day ago||The circumstances around it||
The circumstances around it are weird, but I like the move because at least one of the second-tier B1G programs is finally taking that BTN money and trying. This is 100x better than taking yet another MAC coach with a couple decent seasons and trying to tell everyone this guy is the one that will be the next Urban Meyer. This is something a lower-tier SEC program would do to try to make a splash and move up in the world.
Which means it probably won't work out, because apparently no coach ever works out at Illinois. But if every B1G team went after big names like this, most of them would work out and the whole conference would be better off.

I don't know, but apparently the FBI think so. I'm guessing if they have an unencrypted system partition and a separate data partition that is encrypted it might be possible, but I'm just spitballing there. I don't know enough about encryption or how it's implemented on the iPhone to really say for sure.
